And The Fandom Rejoiced / Kingdom Hearts

  • Kingdom Hearts II got this in a pretty major fashion in terms of voice acting, though the entire series had it for including Final Fantasy alongside Disney. Square Enix not only got access to several actors from Disney movies featured in the game (examples being Hercules' original VA Tate Donovan and James Woods as Hades), but spared no expenses on roping in some pretty well-known names for other characters, such as Jesse McCartney for Roxas as well as Haley Joel Osment and Hayden Panettiere (better known as Claire from Heroes) reprising their original roles.
  • Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep has essentially been a series of ATFRs: three classic Disney Princesses' worlds, Stitch's world, Ansem the Wise's apprentices, a fittingly redesigned Zack Fair in Olympus Coliseum, and Mickey as a D-Link Summon. In his Sorcerer's Apprentice costume. And Mickey as a party member for Aqua. And now we have confirmation that Leonard Nimoy and Mark Hamill are on board.
  • Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] has a lot of this. To put it into perspective, it is probably the first video game to get its own page.
  • The Updated Re-release for PS3 called Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix (including Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and the cutscenes of Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days) features the Final Mix version of the first game! Oh wait... Final Mix, right...what? The game is actually getting an export?! Really?!? And Europe's getting it too, meaning the polygonal remake of Chain of Memories will finally come here as well! Everybody wins!
  • A trailer for Kingdom Hearts III has been released. I repeat: A TRAILER FOR FREAKING KINGDOM HEARTS III HAS BEEN RELEASED.
    • Gets better when you realize that Donald and Goofy will, once again, join Sora on his quest. This troper is very happy that they are back in action after seven years and four games of being mostly minor characters.
    • The first new worlds of KH III have been confirmed: Tangled and Big Hero 6! And speaking of BH6, it's a continuation of the movie's story instead of a retelling!
    • The new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III has dropped at the D23 expo, and the promised new world has been shown off: TOY STORY! That's right, a Pixar movie will FINALLY be getting a world in Kingdom Hearts! We also get confirmation that you can have more than three party members out at a time. But most importantly, we now have official confirmation that the game WILL be released in 2018!
      • ...Or not, because the release date has been bumped forward. But never fear, for the bump isn't that big, and it finally gives us a release day: January 29, 2019.
    • A preview in May was held, showing more of Olympus Coliseum and the Toy Story world, while also confirming Wreck-It Ralph as a summon! This could be a subversion, however, as it deconfirms the inclusion of a world based on Wreck-It Ralph.
    • E3 2018 brings the goods confirming a Frozen (2013) world. Josh Gad is confirmed to reprise Olaf.
      • Pirates of the Caribbean is getting represented again, and it looks GORGEOUS!
    • The first teaser for the KHIII DLC (Kingdom Hearts III: ReMIND) has dropped. Not only will we have more opportunities to play as Riku and Aqua, but Roxas will be playable too. The Oathkeeper and its own form will be available. As for story bits, we'll get more backstory on Xehanort and interestingly enough Luxord.
      • Nomura confirmed that ReMIND will have 13 new bosses!
    • The second trailer reveals that not only is Oathkeeper back, so is Oblivion.
    • The third trailer has plenty that caused the fanbase to freak out again:
Yozora: I've been having these weird thoughts lately...
Sora and Yozora: Like... is any of this for real or not?
  • In October 2013, Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix was finally confirmed for 2014, will contain the Final Mix versions of KHII and Birth by Sleep along with the cutscenes of Re:coded, and will eventually be coming stateside.
    • For the Birth by Sleep section of 2.5, the originally multiplayer-designed Mirage Arena - notorious for its Nintendo Hard challenges and infuriating superbosses - is having its difficulty adjusted down to account for its remake as an exclusively single-player game.
    • 1.5 and 2.5 are both being re-released on the PlayStation 4 with 60fps support!? Hell! Yes!
      • Even better, combine that with the upcoming 2.8 compilation (which will contain a 60fps HD remaster of Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance], among other goodies) and Kingdom Hearts III, both of which also being made for the PS4, it is now finally going to be possible to play the entire series on one console!
    • Kingdom Hearts III on Xbox One was a welcome sight for Xbox players who have been waiting years for the series to come to a Microsoft console, but not being to enjoy the whole series on anything other than a PlayStation console negated some of that excitement... Hold up, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 ReMix and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue are on the Microsoft Store? They're both finally on Xbox One?! Hallelujah! You no longer need to be tied to Sony to experience the whole story!
  • Union X players were beyond pleased when they finally show what happened during the Keyblade War, content that was in the original (Japan-only) X(chi) browser game but was never included in the mobile version.
  • Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory? Ah cool, a rhythm game similar to the Thetarhythm series. 140 songs? That's a lot of Shimomura. IT'S A CONTINUATION OF KHIII AND WILL FEATURE KAIRI AND SUBJECT X?! Take my money Square-Enix!
    • On top of that, it will come to the Nintendo Switch, a first for the series.
  • In Fall 2020, over a year & a half since the game came out, Kingdom Hearts III's official soundtrack will finally release! Players will finally be able to enjoy the beautiful music without relying on YouTube rips that could get copyright-struck at any time!
  • And much to the joy of PC players, all games (Remix versions for first two) were released in Epic Games store 30th March 2021, including the latest Melody of Memory.
  • In October 2021, Sora was announced as the final DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and what's more, Sakurai revealed that Sora had been the real #1 choice of the 2015 Smash Ballot for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. Not only that, but Sakurai also revealed that several of the Kingdom Hearts games are coming soon to the Nintendo Switch!
  • It's the big Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary show. What will they have? Confirmation of Dark Road's new release date, cool. Missing-Link a new mobile game using Scala ed Caelum as a hub, that's nice. Wait... is that... OH MY GOD IT IS! Kingdom Hearts IV!
    • Union X fans will be happy to see Strelitzia is here!
