An interesting situation about this story is that it thoroughly demonstrates what happens when a suicidality reckless and adrenaline-addicted person, relatively, from our world enters One Piece. Cross barely beats most of the mooks, he's one of the weakest members of the crew and it takes quite a bit of time for normally laughable injuries to stop harming him.
At the same time, the fan fiction demonstrates how a Dangerously Genre Savvy person can be and subverts the "Power" principle of most Shonen Manga.
