!!Tropes include:

* {{Antihero}}: Quincy is a guy unafraid to break heads, lie, cheat, torture, curse, and outright kill anyone who offends his moral sensibilities. He is also deeply disrespctful to the forces of Heaven but still on the side of the angels (literally).
* BerserkButton: It is not a wise idea to mess with kids around Quincy.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: The conflict between Heaven and Hell really is that straightforward. Quincy is an {{Antihero}}, though, and doesn't quite neatly fit into their worldview. It doesn't help that GoodIsNotNice.
* ChivalrousPervert: Quincy hits on virtually every woman he meets and checks them out but it rarely goes beyond aggressive flirting.
* DeadpanSnarker: Like many urban fantasy heroes, Quincy has a lot of sass for just about everyone he meets. This is particularly true of God and the forces of Heaven. He even threatens them on occassion.
* DealWithTheDevil: Quincy makes these on occasion as a way to deal with larger threats. Ironically, this is actually more dangerous for the demon in many cases as Quincy is quite able to beat them within an inch of their immortal lives if they try to screw him. [[spoiler: As Mort found out when he used ExactWords on Quincy.]]
* {{Dhampir}}: Sort of. Harker is part-vampire due to his parents having been injected with Dracula's blood during the former's conception, making Harker stronger and more resilient than a normal human without the weaknesses or dietary needs associated with vampires.
* DidNotThinkThisThrough: A number of the villains.
** A sorcerer named Jacob Marlack [[spoiler: humiliates Quincy and leaves him for dead, content the latter could never beat him. So Quincy does a SummonBiggerFish and sends a greater demon after him.]]
** Mort humiliates Quincy, a man who specializes in exorcisms and demon slaying. Mort is a demon.
** Happens twice in ''Hell Frrezes Over''. [[spoiler: A Seraph turns out to be the BigBad with a plan to wipe out all humanity. Quincy confronts him and promptly gets his ass kicked because he is out of his league. Said Seraph is then banished to Hell and made a demon because his plans are, well, evil.]]
* TheDogBitesBack: The original Renfield, Augustus, blames Dracula for refusing to turn him after his thirty years of service were up. Mostly because he was completely nuts. Renfield then got himself turned into a vampire and has spent the past century trying to ruin Dracula's life.
* ExactWords: Demons, Angels, and Fairies all use these to get around the fact they can't lie.
* FamousAncestor / HeroicLineage: Many of the main cast are descended from classical literary characters and folk heroes.
** Quincy is the son of Jonathan and Mina Harker.
** Gabby Van Hellsing is the great-granddaughter of Abrahan Van Helsing.
** Jack Watson is the great-grandson of [[Literature/SherlockHolmes Dr. John Watson]].
** Jo Harrison is the great-granddaughter of John Henry.
* GodIsGood: Glory is quite insistent on this fact and all indications are she's right.
* HappilyAdopted: Harker's "Uncle Luke" took him in when the former's remaining family died of old age. Harker considers Luke a surrogate father.
* HaveYouSeenMyGod: Year Three and Year Four deals with a quest to find God. [[spoiler: He's been missing since the revolt and it requires all of the Archangels, including Lucifer, to call him back. The other option is the apocalypse.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Harker is a mostly heroic figure, but that doesn't stop him from being an asshole.
* KilledOffForReal: It happens to multiple characters.
** [[spoiler: Reinfeld the Fourth a.k.a Sylvester is killed by Agent Smith.]]
** [[spoiler: Christy the Bartender is killed by Orobos]]
* MoleInCharge: [[spoiler: Agent Smith, head of the Department of Homeland Security's Paranormal Division, is a Cambion working for Orbos.]]
* NayTheist: Quincy is not a religious person despite the fact that he knows, for sure, that Heaven and God are real. This is motivated by the FreudianExcuse that he's seen centuries of horrible things that haunt his nightmares.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Quincy looks like a middle aged man but is actually well over a hundred.
* RelationshipUpgrade: [[spoiler: Quincy and Flynn go from being enemies to friends to dating then to a married couple over the course of the show.]]
* RetiredMonster: Lucas Card, aka Count Dracula has decided that remaining a homicidal feudal lord would be detrimental to his survival. He is ReformedButNotTamed and attributes his continued survival to changing his ways from being a feudal overlord.
* SirSwearsALot: Harker, in spades.
* SociopathicHero: Gabby is a HunterOfMonsters primarily because she enjoys the act of killing.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Quincy is an incredibly accomplished exorcist and demon hunter. Demons who mess with him are unlikely to remain long in this plane.
