!!''Of Lovebugs and Promises'' provides examples of:

* BerserkButton: Don't try to harm Bruce's siblings. You won't like him when you do...
* CharacterFocus: Events in the work tend to focus on one or two particular characters during a chapter.
* {{Crossover}}:
** Primarily between ''Series/WhiteCollar'' and the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse.

** The ''Film/XMenFirstClass'' version of Erik Lensherr is a high powered lawyer and Charles Xavier still owns his own school for children that Clint and Natasha attend. Whether or not it is still as mutant school remains to be seen.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: Russian, to be more specific. Though it is only two words in two chapters out of seventeen.
* LivingLieDetector: Bruce sees through lies through a mixture of reading body language and his own body's reaction to hints of deception.
* NoodleIncident: Several including whatever got Steve and Tony universally banned from all Apple stores.
* PointOfView: Third person omniscient with perspectives shifting by chapter or section.
* ShoutOut: A blink and you'll miss it shout out to ''Franchise/{{Digimon}}''.
* SinkOrSwimFatherhood: Phil's initial relationship with his first child, Clint, who he agreed to take in on accident and couldn't bring himself to backpedal on.
