''The Unyielding Plasma Sentinels'' is a (as of yet not real) series of video games styled as a sendup of 1980s and 1990s action cartoons, as well as [[UsefulNotes/TheSilverAgeOfComicBooks Silver Age comics]].

On a distant vaguely-Earthlike planet in an alien-yet-familiar society, the first and last line of defense against threats who would conquer and corrupt it are the [[ProtagonistTitle Plasma Sentinels]], a team of warriors and their allies with strange properties armed with experimental weapons and gadgetry.

! Tropes pertaining to specific characters:

[[foldercontrol]]

!! Heroic Factions

[[folder:Task Force ST001 "Plasma Sentinels"]]
* SuperTeam: Three of the four members showcase extraordinary abilities and/or are themselves unusual. The fourth member, while not explicitly "superpowered", is still an impressive genius.

!! Ouroboros
* AllLovingHero: He's willing to extend forgiveness to anyone, and believes most people have the capacity for redemption within them.
* ConcussionFrags: Ouro's weapon of choice is a rocket launcher fitted with concussive charges, designed to be debilitating to machinery yet nonlethally knocks down fleshy targets.
* {{Determinator}}: Really this trope can be said for the entirety of the team, but Ouroboros ''especially''.
* LivingForeverIsAwesome: At least, that's his view on his situation. Eternity to him means he'll be able to protect those who can't protect themselves, and that he'll always be around to keep the world on track.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: The Nice of his team, being a golden-hearted hero.
* ThePollyanna: It's extremely tough to actually break this guy's spirits. Even when he's in horrible pain from his myriad deaths and on the brink of defeat, Ouro still keeps up his optimistic outlook and keeps fighting.
* RequiredSecondaryPowers: That immortality would be worthless without a high pain tolerance. Fortunately he's got pain tolerance to spare.
* ResurrectiveImmortality: Ouro's main claim to fame is that he just won't stay dead - and his resurrective ability kicks in pretty quickly, too. Doesn't do anything about nonlethal incapacitation, though.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: A heroic blue one.
* SociallyAwkwardHero: Has a tough time with social situations.

!! Equinox
* GlassCannon: Equinox used to be hardier, but [[BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu seriously wracked his body during]] the Big 40 and now is considerably frail.
* GoodOldFisticuffs: To be fair, when you're able to dramatically amplify your own kinetic energy, punching things starts getting a lot more practical.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: The In-Between of his team.
* PowerOfTheVoid: Equinox's energy manipulation abilities allow him to tap into the [[VoidBetweenTheWorlds Hyper Zone]], the void of infinite chaos between universes. Not only does this allow him to [[ArtisticLicensePhysics casually tell the Law of Conservation of Energy to sod off]], but it's what gives him his sheer strength.
* SuperpowerMeltdown: Too much storing or drawing of Hyper Zone energy ''will'' start taking a [[OverdrawnAtTheBloodBank bloody toll]] on his physical body, requiring him to limit himself. In absolutely desperate cases (or when he gets too cocky for his own good) he'll throw this to the wayside.
* TeleporterAccident: How he got his abilities in the first place.

!! Tomahawk
* ActionGirl: As one of the world's strongest defenders, she's no stranger to combat situations.
* AnxietyDreams: Is prone to these as a result of the work she does - she may be passionate about it, but hell if it wouldn't give people stress.
* {{BFG}}: Tomahawk's usual gun is a rather hefty-looking piece of machinery designed to suppress an area with raw plasma.
* CombatPragmatist: Though [[{{BFG}} heavy weapons]] are her preference, she's able to make do with just about anything she can find.
* GoodIsNotSoft: Tomahawk's the hardest of the gang when it comes to dealing with their rogues' gallery and is more than willing to break a couple bones if it means the owner of those bones won't be causing any harm to others.
* HotBlooded: Quite the hothead who's definitely not afraid of busting up those who would abuse power.
* MadeOfIron: Carbon nanotubes, to be exact. The tankiest of the Sentinels, befitting of her status as a robot.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: The Mean of her team. Though downplayed a bit as she gets along well with the other two in the trio, she puts up a tough display against her enemies.
* RobotGirl: A robot who is female.
* WrenchWench: Her day job is working at an auto shop. She shows a few shades of GadgeteerGenius as she adds on to some of her weapons.

!! Phoenix
* CrimefightingWithCash: Phoenix and his manufacturing company are one of the main sources of income for TACTICS.
* KnightInSourArmor: Phoenix grew jaded over the course of his years of work trying to improve the state of the world and takes umbrage with corporate interests having a hand in world governments. Nonetheless he continues fighting for its people overtly and subtly.
* TheMentor: Housed and mentored Equinox after the accident that gave him his abilities.
* MissionControl: Typically commands the Sentinels from an area in close proximity or from the skies.
* NonActionGuy: Is mostly just a normal nac and, while he's capable of defending himself, prefers to support from the sidelines.
* ReedRichardsIsUseless: Type 8 with some Type 5 when it comes to his weapons. Phoenix's goals outside of "save the world from devastation" involve solving problems affecting the world.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Other TACTICS Personnel]]

* FunWithAcronyms: TACTICS is the '''T'''errestrial '''A'''lliance of '''C'''ounter-'''T'''errorism, '''I'''ntelligence, and '''C'''rime '''S'''ubversion.
* HeroesRUs: TACTICS is responsible for managing most of the superpowered beings on their world.
* InterpolSpecialAgent: Justified. Due to their connections with world governments and law enforcement, TACTICS has near-global authority to send out their task forces to deal with criminal happenings wherever they rise.
* SuperCop: Some of their membership shows clearly unnatural prowess.

!! General Alexandria Polk
* [[AFatherToHisMen A Mother To Her Men]]: Extremely cordial and respectful to those who work with her, giving them what leniency they need.
* BadassNormal: A baseline nacgebig with no enhanced or borderline supernatural capabilities, but decidedly not to be underestimated given her credentials.
* CoolShades: Never seen without a nice pair of sunglasses.
* NervesOfSteel: It's generally pretty tough to get a rise out of Polk, though she can be pushed into TranquilFury if threatened enough.
[[/folder]]

!! Rogues' Gallery

[[folder:The Singularity Order]]
!! The Sunsetter
* AffablyEvil: He's actually fairly nice to the Plasma Sentinels, all things considered, and he'd rather have them as allies as opposed to enemies. However, their disagreement with his view that UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans means he can't take any chances with them.
* BadassBandolier: Sports a bandolier full of various grenades.
* {{Bandito}}: The Sunsetter uses this as his aesthetic, dressing himself like a vaquero and wearing a sombrero.
* BeardOfEvil: Has a rather understated goatee.
* BenevolentBoss: Treats those who are a part of his gathering pretty well and is the one who personally installs/ repairs the higher-ranking members' [[{{Cyborg}} upgrades]].
* BigBad: One major part of the BigBadEnsemble.
* CardCarryingVillain: Albeit for a [[ThenLetMeBeEvil different reason]] than the other card-carrier who makes up the BigBadEnsemble, but he still embraces the label and even engages in a bit of the theatrics that come with the trade.
* ColdHam: Normally keeps a somewhat world-weary, relaxed yet composed tone of voice, but will play up the more "shouty" aspects of being a villain when he feels like having some fun.
* {{Cyborg}}: Most of his left half is custom-made mechanical parts. He's about 45-50% machine overall.
* ElectronicEyes: His left eye glows a rather eerie vibrant blue. It seems to have some sort of aim-assistance for his weapons.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: The Sunsetter is only interested in causing as much damage ''as necessary'' in order to get what he wants, anything else is unacceptable overkill. Betraying your principles to advance your status is also a good way to [[RewardedAsATraitorDeserves be on the wrong end of a weapons platform]].
* EvilRedhead: Has rust-colored hair.
* GadgeteerGenius: Even outside of prosthetics, the Sunsetter has a knack for machinery, building levitating weapons platforms, smaller arms, and even [[MechaMooks rudimentary AI soldiers]].
* IControlMyMinionsThrough: Agenda, Kindness, and Respect are his go-to methods.
* TheIdealist: Extremely confident that he's able to right the wrongs he perceives within his society, if only he could rule the world just for one day.
* JetPack: Uses thrusters built into wings that slide out of his back to make hasty escapes when need be or just rain death from above.
* MadScientist: A prosthetics engineer and later nurse who went rogue and turned his talents towards world domination.
* MorphWeapon: The Sunsetter's left arm is a variable utilities and weapons platform made of [[{{Nanomachines}} nanobots]].
* PurpleIsPowerful: His outfit is entirely purple, and his mechanical parts have purple in their paint jobs.
* SignatureHeadgear: Quite proud of his sombrero, and rarely ever seen without it.
* SirSwearsALot: The most prone to swearing out of the entire cast.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: The Sunsetter's goal is to TakeOverTheWorld by brute force, and then instill a new order without the influences that have left people like himself and his cult in dire straits, as well as tackling the concept of "organic obsolecence" by forcibly integrating everyone with machinery.
* XanatosSpeedChess: The Sunsetter's ability to improvise should one of his plans go south is fairly impressive.

!! Lieutenant Irene
* CoDragons: Alongside her coworker Gravehopper.
* EyepatchOfPower: Has one over her right eye. It's just for show, as her right eye is still very functional.
* LadyDrunk: Almost never seen sober.
** DrunkenMaster: ''Unfortunately'', she happens to get better at her job when on the bottle.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: A metal riot shield slides out of her right arm that reacts with a magnetic blast when hit. It's protection and [[CounterAttack reflection]] at the same time.
* MadBomber: Explosives are her go-to for solving problems.

!! Lieutenant Gravehopper
* AmbiguousGender: Nothing concrete is given on their gender.
* BodyHorror: Comes with being a partially-decayed corpse: various elements of their organic body have putrefied.
* CoDragons: Alongside their coworker Irene.
* HardLight: Has the ability to solidify projections they generate.
* SilentAntagonist: Doesn't speak a word, but lets their body language and projections speak for them. Justified case, considering their vocal cords have decayed to the point of being useless.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Frantic Evil International]]
* NGOSuperpower: A group of smugglers, thieves, and terrorists with their own territory.
* SupervillainLair: The organization's seat of power is Frantic Island, a large private island from which their mastermind conducts his schemes.

!! Frederick Frantic
* AcePilot: He may not make his own war machines, but he knows his way around them, and is possibly the best helicopter pilot of his world.
* AttentionWhore: At least half of his motivation for villainy is to become Public Enemy Number One.
* BadBoss: By design, working for Frantic in a non-armada position is as un-cushy as physically possible.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Sure, he may look like just an over-the-top 80s cartoon villain, but he's certainly not ''ineffective'' at what he does, and the sheer breadth of his resources means he can keep causing trouble.
* BigBad: The other major part of the BigBadEnsemble.
* CardCarryingVillain: Frantic actively revels in his own villainy, enjoys [[InsultBackfire being called a vile sleazebag]], and will make sure the whole world knows it.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: He's the head of a massive black-market trade operation.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Frantic would like you to ''think'' he doesn't, but [[spoiler:he does draw the line at acts such as forcing someone to fight their brainwashed lover]]. He also shows a bit of discomfort at [[SociopathicSoldier some of his army's passion for bloodshed]].
* {{Expy}}: Has a passing resemblance to [[WesternAnimation/{{MASK}} Miles Mayhem]] and a bit of VideoGame/{{Wario}}.
* ForTheEvulz / ItAmusedMe: The rest of his motivation for villainy? Well, it's just fun to him.
* TheGeneralissimo: Frantic's visual style is that of a dictator, and he runs his own private island nation much like a military dictatorship. However...
* GeneralFailure: His own arrogance tends to get in the way of his plans for world terrorization, and his myriad [[VillainousBreakdown tantrums]] don't help either.
* HiddenDepths: Despite being the embodiment of the "Saturday morning cartoon villain", Frantic is still quite the business genius and extremely adept at planning when his ego isn't getting in the way.
* PsychopathicManchild: Frantic is prone to throwing tantrums, reacts with childlike glee at the idea of causing destruction, and is quite the egocentric.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Frantic's attire consists of red fatigues with black trimmings.
* SigilSpam: Everything he owns tends to have his logo on it somewhere.
* VocalDissonance: A terrorist mastermind with the trappings of a military dictator... who speaks in a nasally tone that calls to mind [[WesternAnimation/HeManAndTheMastersOfTheUniverse1983 Skeletor]].

!! The Eradicator
* AmbiguouslyHuman: In a world of RubberForeheadAliens with [[AmazingTechnicolorPopulation wildly varying skin tones]], he seems to have a human skin tone and more humanlike proportions. [[spoiler:His blood is also shown to be a proper human red when defeated.]]
* AnimalMotifs: Hawks. He calls his own transport helicopter a hawk, possesses a screech that mimics a bird of prey's, and keeps several hawks as pets that [[BeastOfBattle sometimes even hunt alongside him]].
* ArmCannon: His main weapon is a boxy laser projector on his left forearm. It has several functions, including a grappling hook.
* BadassLongcoat: A black leather longcoat is his traditional attire.
* BlackHelicopter: How he likes to make his entrances.
* BloodKnight: Rivals just about every other blood knight in the series.
* CaptainErsatz: Essentially [[Series/{{Interceptor}} the Interceptor]] if he had time travel.[[labelnote:Trivia note]]Which is actually keeping in line [[http://www.interceptors-lair.com/htmldocs/behind_scenes/sean_interview/sean_interview2_5.htm with what Sean O'Kane suggested]] would have been the ideal ending for his Interceptor character in an interview.[[/labelnote]]
* TheDragon: Serves as Frantic's top enforcer and praetorian.
** DragonWithAnAgenda: [[spoiler:However, he's also what's been keeping his boss from quite a few grisly fates, and lets on that he's mostly keeping Frantic around for both being quite the interesting fellow and Frantic's existence being fairly important to the [[TheFutureWillBeBetter Good Future]] the Eradicator gets all his fancy toys from.]]
* NobleDemon: The Eradicator has no qualms about giving his opponents VillainRespect for beating him, and outright helps them just so he can fight them at their strongest.
* PsychoForHire: As part of Frantic's services, he works with other small-time bad guys if they've got the cash.
* TimeMaster: Possesses the ability to hop through time and even exerts control over its flow at points.
** FlashStep / TeleportSpam: That time travel device of his works on space, too.
** MesACrowd: One of his more recurring tricks is to have multiple versions of him converge at one point in time to overwhelm an enemy.
* ViolentGlaswegian: Isn't Scottish [[spoiler:(at least, not from ''our'' version of Scotland)]], but certainly has the voice and disposition down.
* WickedCultured: The Eradicator is an avid fan of performing arts, has two entire libraries worth of [[spoiler:[[TheFederation Interstellar Commonwealth]]]] history books in his lair, knows his way around the piano and the guitar, and is a certified falconer.

!! Frantic Armada
* CloneArmy: The Grunt Corps. are Frantic's shock troops consisting of clones of the same soldier.
** EmptyShell: These clones are ''born'' lobotomized, lacking all capacity for emotion or knowledge other than how to carry out their given tasks. They're more like fleshy robots than proper sentient life.
** ExpendableClone: Their main trait: they're surprisingly cheap to manufacture.
* EvilMinions: A fully-formed army of soldiers fighting under the command of a criminal lunatic.
* PunchClockVillain: Some of Frantic's army are working under him just to pay bills and debts, and quite affable when off the clock.
* SociopathicSoldier: Not the majority of his army, but some of Frantic's troops definitely enjoy their role too much and seem to ''live'' to destroy. They're actually enough to unnerve Frantic a little.
* WeHaveReserves: Frantic's always got some clones or hired soldiers around.
[[/folder]]

!! Other Characters
[[folder:Present Characters]]
!! Doctor Johnathan Ferom
* AbnormalLimbRotationRange: It's somewhat common to see him twist parts of his body in odd ways when addressing others without moving from what he's doing.
* CoolOldGuy: He's about the same age as Phoenix.
* CreepyGood: A scientist who exiled himself from public view and modifies people's bodies with all sorts of experimental procedures... but he's actually a very well-intentioned man.
* DefectorFromDecadence: Identifies himself as an ex-QUADRA scientist who quit knowing what his boss was up to.
* TheInformant: Takes this role with TACTICS and the Sentinels, tipping them off to any misgivings he has.
* ProfessorGuineaPig: Has definitely done some bioaugmentation to himself.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Past Characters]]
!! Robert Quadra
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: As the owner of the QUADRA Company, though he was seen as an HonestCorporateExecutive up until the Big 40.
* MisterAltDisney: Got his start with animating, and eventually turned that into a corporate empire that allowed him to attempt to take over the entire world. He ''definitely'' doesn't keep to the real-life Walt Disney's utopian ideals, though these are used as his facade.
* PosthumousCharacter: Long dead since the "start" of the story.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Only briefly mentioned by some characters, but his actions with the Big 40 led to the formation of TACTICS and by extension the Plasma Sentinels, Sunsetter's StartOfDarkness, Frantic's career change from black marketeer to supervillain, and Ferom and associates forming Chimera Labs.
* TakeOverTheWorld: Wanted to turn the world into his personal kingdom.
* VillainWithGoodPublicity: Quadra's shady dealings went on far before the Big 40, but his PR was able to easily conceal these. Then he decided to strike out at the world...
