!Main Characters
[[folder:In General]]
* BlondBrunetteRedhead: All the angels in the main cast are blonde, Vignette is the brunette, Satanichia is the redhead.
* BokeAndTsukkomiRoutine: While Vignette and Raphiel hang out in a cafe, Raphiel mentions that since Vignette often plays the straight man of a group that she'd try the goofball role. Vignette says that she doesn't do it because she enjoys it, and Raphiel replies by [[ComicalOverreacting screaming that she's really shocked]].
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Barring [[OnlySaneWoman Vignette]], all of them are pretty off their rocker, albeit each in their own way.
* CrossPoppingVeins: A big red one which shows up on nearly all the girls at some point as part of a RunningGag.
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Of the FourGirlEnsemble genre. While its a show about 'cute girls doing cute things', most of the girls are not stereotypically nice and sweet, instead focusing on their less pleasant sides, which real girls their age would realistically have.
* FourGirlEnsemble: Actually parodies the genre by having girls with mostly negative traits.
** Gabriel (OtakuSurrogate): {{Tomboy}}ish, irresponsible, and occasional DeadpanSnarker. She would much rather spend all her time gaming.
** Vignette (TeamMom): The StraightMan to her immoral friends who keeps them in line and serves as a [[OnlySaneMan voice of reason]].
** Satanichia (TheDitz): While she shares the role of {{tomboy}} with Gabriel, she fits this role better due to being a BookDumb ButtMonkey.
** Raphiel ({{Ojou}}): The wealthiest out of all the girls and behaves elegant and ladylike, even if [[BitchInSheepsClothing it's all an act to conceal her less pleasant side]].
* FourManBand:
** Vignette (OnlySaneMan), the maturest and most sensible.
** Gabriel (ComedicSociopath), prone to bouts of violence or cruelty to others, especially Satania.
** Raphiel (TheSmartGal), who is cunning and by far the most manipulative.
** Satania (ButtMonkey), who has her only role as the one constantly bullied and tormented by everyone else.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble:
** Gabriel (Melancholic): Rude and unmotivated about life in general and preferring to stay shut in her room gaming all day.
** Satanichia (Choleric): Tries to be mean to everyone and at times would rather hang out by her lonesome, while she's very focused on proving her worth as the epitome of evil... [[HarmlessVillain with little success]].
** Raphiel (Phlegmatic): Calm and composed and loves to be around others... for the sake of messing with them for her own amusement.
** Vignette (Sanguine): The most sociable and strives to live up to her full potential.
* LightDarknessJuxtaposition: The angels are associated with light, especially Gabriel who is often accompanied by RaysFromHeaven. The demons are associated with darkness, especially Vignette who manifests her demonic powers with shadowy auras.
* NatureVersusNurture: Not one of the girls acts how they are stereotypically supposed to, aside from maybe Satania (who tries and fails at being evil).
** Gabriel and Raphiel were both top angels in heaven before becoming corrupted on Earth. Gabriel being corrupted by the allure of MMO gaming, while Raphiel found the joys of trolling Satania for amusement.
*** In the episode where they go back to Heaven, Raphiel's interactions with her maid imply she was always like that.
** Vignette is kind and sweet which is far from how a demon is expected to behave. Gabriel even suggests she should quit being a demon.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent:
** The two main angels are hardly angelic; Gabriel is lazy and Raphiel is sadistic/trollish. Vignette can't believe they are heaven's top two angels.
** Subverted with Tapris and Zelel, who both act as stereotypical angels.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: The two main demons are hardly demonic; Vignette is sweet and Satanichia thinks she's an archfiend but is merely petty and silly.
* PerpetualPoverty: Gabriel, Vignette, and Satanichia all have money problems; Gabriel spends too much on her MMORPG, Satanichia spends too much buying from the Hell Shopping Network, and Vignette's allowance keeps getting cut because of her not so stellar demonic performance. Only Raphiel is shown to be pretty well off because she comes from a rich family, has a stellar record in performing her duties as an angel, and has little need for money anyway.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Girls are not only very similar to their parents, even their parents are alike each other!
* StealthParody: Of SliceOfLife works, since while it is still mostly a [[{{Moe}} "cute girls doing cute things"]] show, its focus is cast on the negative character traits and bad habits of all except Vignette (or, by demon standards, even hers), which contributes a healthy share of the parody part. For such cute characters, the girls are feistier, pettier and more unkind than what their designs suggest at first glance.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Gabriel, Vignette and Satanichia are not above beating the living crap out of each other, though Satanichia is often the butt of the violence; Raphiel is delighted to troll her friends just as much, but she never resorts to physical violence. Most of the stories involve forcing one of the four girls to do stuff they don't want to do. Still, they do enjoy seeking each other's company and spending time together, all in all.

An angel who is a former top student of her class in heaven and the wielder of the First Trumpet of the Apocalypse. She regresses to a slobbish gaming otaku not long after arriving on Earth.
----
* TheAce: She was the top student of her class in heaven. That ends after she descends to Earth and becomes a lazy otaku.
* ACupAngst: She is irritated with Raphiel pushing her boobs against the former's face, followed by resting them on her head.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: While Gabriel treats Satania like a chew toy in both media, in the anime, Gabriel has acted on Satania's behalf in more than one occasion and has referred to the young demoness as her friend. This implies that whatever she feels for Satania is not ''malice'' per se, but rather, annoyance at her obnoxiousness.
* ApocalypseMaiden: She's in possession of the [[InstrumentOfMurder First Trumpet of the Apocalypse]] and on many occasions has contemplated using it rather than dealing with her problems.
* ArchangelGabriel: Her namesake.
* ArmorPiercingResponse: When Tapris questions her about her old personality.
-->'''Tapris:''' "But what about the you I knew in Heaven?"
-->'''Gabriel:''' "Yeah, that me was a lie."
* BarefootLoon: As her mental health deteriorates with becoming TheSlacker and desiring to just laze around and play online games without leaving her house, she takes to be barefoot (and wear just a tracksuit jacket over her underwear). Only when prodded to come to school she'll wear her uniform-issue shoes and stockings.
* BigEater: She consumes two servings of Tanin-don and strawberry parfait. ''Each''.
* BishieSparkle: Pre-otaku Gabriel who was still a perfect NiceGirl sweetheart displayed this wherever she went. She momentarily regains this after being disciplined by Zelel back into her perfect angel self. It appears they aren't merely an artist's choice but a physical ethereal glow that emanates off Gabriel that other characters can see.
* BlatantLies: Attempts to fool her elder sister, Zelel, about her time in the human realm. Zelel doesn't buy any of her claims, however.
* BookDumb: Seems to have receded to this after becoming a slacker, constantly looking for opportunities to copy Vignette's homework.
* BookEnds: The anime starts with Gabriel unwittingly teleporting her panties to her desk at school in an effort to avoid being tardy by using the Divine Unimpeded Passage; in the last episode she does the same, but she ends up sending her plaid uniform skirt.
* BribingYourWayToVictory: Gabriel ends up purchasing a staff, which allows the user to cast healing spells without consuming MP, in a game for 1500 yen. Since then...
* BrilliantButLazy: Gabriel is still ''very'' intelligent and capable, but her slacking has led her to lag behind academically; still, her efforts to keep her slacker lifestyle ironically show what she's able to do if she tries.
** Most tellingly, like [[BookDumb Satania]], she never does her homework and is constantly behind. But unlike Satania, she's able to easily pass important tests, with only minimal last-minute studying.
* BrokenAce: She was once a perfect, kind-hearted overachieving angel who wished for everyone to be happy, then burned out ''hard'' very shortly after coming to Earth. Now she's a lazy crank who lives in filth and sinks her spending money into video games and microtransactions.
* BrutalHonesty: Sees work as a pain, which to her is a means of financial sustenance.
* ButNotTooEvil: Albeit Gabriel is a "faillen angel" and acts callous and uncaring, she is by no means evil. Her biggest evils are self-indulgence and pettiness, but nothing past threats or malice, in great part due to Vignette's influence.
** [[AdaptationalNiceGuy This is most prominent in the anime]]. For example, she takes on an extra day of waitressing, just to help Satania. Though she lies through her teeth about it.
* CantHoldHerLiquor: Played for laughs when she gets drunk after drinking a cup of amazake, which only has a low amount of alcohol at most, then reverts to her real form and almost ends the world in the middle of episode 9.
* CharacterTitle: '''Gabriel''' [=DropOut=].
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Lampshaded by the ClassRepresentative, believing her to be a [[MrImagination chuunibyou]] after overhearing her intentions of announcing the end of days as a future "career" path.
* TheComicallySerious: Gabriel often times will remain unenthused and indifferent even when her friends have become excited, best shown in the opening where she keeps her blank look while the other girls are cheering.
* CompanionCube: More often than not seen with some electronic device. She even brings her laptop to the ''beach'' during the BeachEpisode, of all places.
* CorruptTheCutie: PlayedForLaughs. Before coming to Earth, Gabriel was an upstanding and overachieving angel, and even a few days after she came and lived with humans, she was doing good deeds and being a morally upright person. When she heard the distress call of a person from an MMORPG, she immediately signed up and created a healer. This turns out to be a bad idea as everybody in the game kept dying, so she was forced to buy a staff that didn't use MP for healing spells in order to continue helping them. The next that's seen of Gabriel, she's turned into the slovenly video game nerd who'd rather see herself as a "faillen" angel than go back to heaven.
* CutenessProximity: The original innocent angelic Gabriel would become this response in others who start falling over how cute and sweet she was. Even after becoming a faillen angel she's still able to get this from others from time-to-time such as Raphiel, while she herself is able to [[DeliberatelyCuteChild play this up]] for personal gain.
* TheCutie: Played with. She fits the trope in appearance, but not in attitude. As a matter of fact, she won't behave as TheCutie unless she is absolutely forced to, like when she's saving face in front of her sisters. Out of the four girls, Gabriel is the least "cute".
* DeadpanSnarker: Her default voice is a deadpan tone and she often gets very sarcastic, especially when Satania is involved.
* DeliberatelyCuteChild:
** What she argues was her angle in heaven, as she states that her coming to Earth made her realize that it was a sham.
** She tries to adopt this tactic when dealing with her sister Zelel in order to keep her from uncovering the truth about her, having seen it work to great effect in the MMO she plays. Though Zelel sees right through the act.
* {{Deuteragonist}}: In spite of being the titular character in the anime, Gabriel's role is equal or lesser than Vignette's or Satanichia's the further the story goes.
* DisproportionateRetribution: Her solution to get rid of the people who saw [[ItMakesSenseInContext her panties magically appear on her desk]] is to bring about the apocalypse, citing everyone else as "collateral damage".
* DumbBlonde: Played with. A blonde and slobbish, video game otaku; however, she is not dumb by any means, just lazy and procrastinating.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: Her hair after becoming a slacker is different enough for even Tapris being unable to recognize her at first glance. Though it doesn't quite appear like it, it's actually ''very'' messy, and Tapris can finally see who she is after Raphiel straightens it.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: She is shown going from perfect angel to extreme slacker as she gets drawn into an MMO.
* {{Expy}}: Of [[Manga/LuckyStar Konata Izumi]], as BrilliantButLazy otaku slackers who would rather indulge in their hobbies all day.
* FallenAngel: Literally. She goes against everything heaven taught her, and as a result becomes very corrupt. She is ''very damn well'' proud of it. However, it's referred to as "faillen", as she was tempted by earthly delights, but not cast down to hell.
* FlyCrazy: Forced to deal with a swarm of mosquitoes at home after her aircon breaks down.
* ForHalloweenIAmGoingAsMyself: In episode 6, she decides to just wear her angel outfit for Halloween (out of laziness rather than the usual reasons), until Vignette and Raphiel force her into a werecat costume.
* ForHappiness: This was her dream. That all goes out the window when she became engrossed in games.
-->"Like, humanity can just go to Hell and die, for all I care."
* FormerlyFit: Her otaku lifestyle has been detrimental on her physical ability, her top running speed is to plod forwards and leaves her breathless, she needs to exert all her strength for a grip test and it doesn't even move the needle, while she struggles to let her little sister ride on her back like a pony and collapses in exhaustion after a few crawls.
* FunSize: The shortest girl out of the main quartet. She's even shorter than Tapris who is supposed to be her junior.
* TheGadfly: Not to Raphiel's extent, but Gabriel herself likes to mess with Satanichia on occasion.
* GagCensor: If she exposes anything that wouldn't be family friendly, RaysFromHeaven come out of nowhere to keep her covered.
* GamerChick: Not originally, but after she came to earth, she discovered video games and started loving them so much, she became a lazy slob who doesn't really want to do much else.
* GenderBlenderName: Gabriel is a male given name; its female counterparts are Gabrielle and Gabriela/Gabriella.
* GirlishPigtails: Ueno and Tanaka of the Cooking Club secretly tie Gabriel's hair like this while she's busy scarfing down their cooking.
* GoingCommando: After a failed attempt to teleport to school, where her panties are instead teleported into her class's desk. The humiliation results in Gabriel finding herself unable to turn up to school for the rest of the day.
* GoodIsNotNice: Her friendship does not include praise or even a remotely rewarding experience. Still, her friends are fond of her regardless of all the crap she pulls on them, and seek her company as much as they can. She is also shown to be willing to help her friends as long as the situation warrants it and they don't do a big fuss about it. the main situations where she helps include the happiness of her friends and the sanctity of life.
* GratuitousJapanese: Parodied in Episode 3, where she claims to the Angel Coffee owner that she struggles to speak Japanese fluently. ''All with a blank expression'' on her face.
-->"Suimasen, nihongo muzukashikute." (I sorry. Japanese so hard.)\
"Desu yo ne." (Yes, that true.)\
"Ro sannen ni sao hachinen to iimasu shi ne." (Other saying go, "three years the oar; eight years the pole.")
* GuileHero: Often verges into ManipulativeBitch given how immoral she can be, but she's very skilled at twisting the people around her so that she can get off easy, get things for free, or outright deceive such as her sister.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Was a pure hearted angel and wanted to [[ForHappiness make others happy]]. Then she became engrossed in a MMORPG.
* HiddenDepths: As part of CharacterizationMarchesOn, she's more tolerant than she appears, growing ever more lenient of her friends getting into her apartment. This even includes Satania, even stating at one point that she doesn't really want to antagonize her.
* {{Hikikomori}}: She'd rather be holed up at home and game all day, every day, than spend her time in the outdoors.
* {{Hypocrite}}:
** When Gabriel finds out her older sister will be visiting and found out Gabriel had became a faillen angel, Gabriel believed that she would unleash divine retribution upon her could destroy all of humanity. So the solution Gabriel comes up with is to blow the First Trumpet of the Apocalypse and wipe so there'd be no Earth for her to visit.
** Zelel reveals she knew about Gabriel's whole sweet sister act was a farce and played along as a test of character to see if Gabriel would confess and repent, to which Gabriel retorts that it was low of her to fool her own sister, despite Gabriel attempting to do the same thing by piling lies upon lies.
* IdiotHair: Sports one after she regresses into a slacker.
* TheImmodestOrgasm: A non-sexual and downplayed example, where she moans when Vignette applies some sort of anti-itching cream on her back.
* InSeriesNickname: "Gab", a short form of "Gabriel".
%%* InnocentBlueEyes: Before regressing to a slacker.
* InstrumentOfMurder: Possesses a trumpet that signals the apocalypse if she blows on it. She occasionally has to be talked out of using it.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold:
** While Gabriel herself won't admit it, Vignette acknowledges that she does have a caring side to her, stopping by Vignette's house during one of her sick days to not only check up on her, but to deliver her homework and refreshments which Gabriel purchased with what little remaining money she had.
** In episode 11 she helps Satanichia keep the dog she rescued by begging the owner of Satanichia's building to allow pets and even agreeing to work an extra day at the coffee house, all without telling anyone.
** While she still loses an awful lot of time, money and effort on her [=MMORPG=], it's fair to say that she is still a ''healer'' type in-game, like when she began playing in the first place when she had the best intentions.
** In the second [=OVA=], she breaks Heaven's mandate of intervention to human affairs in order to save the blind girl they befriended when she is in the brink of death due to a traffic accident and even restores the girl's failing eyesight.
* LegFocus: Due to how becoming TheSlacker has made her prefer lazing about playing games, with her usually doing so without wearing any socks or shoes or even pants, a decent amount of time is spent showing off her bare, slender legs. Even when she's all dressed up, the fact she [[ACupAngst completely lacks a chest, something that irritates her at times]], means that a good deal of fanservice focus is put on her legs instead.
* LittleSisterHeroine: Pretends to be one in Episode 12, so as to lull her older sister's vigilance and eventually deceive her, portraying the bogus BigSisterWorship. This does not work.
* MeaningfulName: Whether she is NamedAfterSomebodyFamous, i.e. ArchangelGabriel from ''Literature/TheBible'' or is supposed to be the very same, isn't quite clear, but Gabriel himself is generally supposed to be a good guy and God's messenger, which fits the whole "coming from heaven" idea for this show's Gabriel. The biblical Gabriel is also a {{Bishonen}}, sometimes even depicted as female, and possess a trumpet that heralds the coming of the apocalypse if blown.
* MessyHair: She was well-groomed before she regressed into a slacker.
* MetaphoricallyTrue: She reports to the principal of the Angel School that her time in the human world was spent saving two countries from war and destruction, which was actually what she did in her video games.
* MoneyFetish: She believes herself to be deserving of money from her hypothetical worshipers.
* MsFanservice: She's had several naked scenes, but nothing is ever shown thanks to a GagCensor of RaysFromHeaven.
* NoSell: The massage slippers that Satanichia slipped into Gabriel's locker have no effect on her.
* NoSocialSkills: Invoked and subverted. She knows exactly how she's supposed to behave; she just doesn't care and cannot be bothered to even try.
* NotListeningToMeAreYou: This interchange during the Christmas episode, where Gabriel cannot even be bothered to open her mouth in approval of the dinner:
-->'''Vignette''': "Okay, now that we're all here... Let's eat!"
-->'''Raphiel''': "Yes, let's."
-->'''Vignette''': ''(to Gabriel)'' "What do you think of my turkey?"
-->'''Gabriel''': "Hrm."
-->'''Raphiel''': "We made meatloaf, too."
-->'''Gabriel''': "Hrm."
-->'''Vignette''': "Jeez, don't just grunt! Tell us it's good!"
-->'''Gabriel''': ''(faintly nodding)'' "Hrm."
-->'''Raphiel''': "That's our Gab-chan!"
* NotSoStoic: Even with all her selfishness and antisocial behavior, Gabriel does care about her friends (Yes! ''Even Satanichia!''), though she's not above using and abusing their friendship.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Gabriel pretends to [[GratuitousJapanese have difficulty speaking Japanese]] to her boss in order to excuse her own incompetence in getting the order wrong.
* OneHourWorkWeek: Gets a job to keep paying for microtransactions, but refuses to work more than one day a week claiming she would die should she work more than that.
* OnlyInItForTheMoney: Her motivation for working.
* OtakuSurrogate: A GamerChick who would rather spend her days playing an MMORPG rather than going outside.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: To Zelel, Gabriel uses her friendship with the rest of the main cast as an excuse to be allowed to remain on Earth.
* PrecisionFStrike: Drops a "Goddammit!" after she is not allowed to take her laptop with her to Heaven past customs.
* SacredBowAndArrows: The HotSpringsEpisode OVA reveals that she has these, which she uses to destroy the slime summoned by Satanichia.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: In the second [=OVA=], she uses her angelic powers to not only save the blind girl they befriended from the brink of death, but also restores her eyesight, despite knowing that doing such an act is forbidden by Heaven.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: After Vignette advises Gabriel, who stopped by her house to use her air conditioning, to bathe, Gabriel strips ''in front'' of her. She also goes around her apartment without wearing any pants and has no problem answering the door.
* TheSlacker: Can you even imagine how she went from a well-spoken, excelling angel to a slobbish, gaming otaku?
* SpockSpeak: She used to be a well-spoken angel... until she regressed to a slobbish gaming otaku after descending to Earth, at which point she starts to speak informally, and can even be condescending with others.
* TheStoic: After regressing into a slacker, she rarely shows enthusiasm and has the same bored, deadpan expression on her face.
* StrongAsTheyNeedToBe: Gabriel's physically ability varies as required by the plot, going from being so unfit she got exhausted from exerting almost no effort in physical fitness tests, to displaying superhuman strength enabling her to beat around the athletic Satania.
* TeleporterAccident: Tries to teleport to school... and only succeeds in teleporting her underwear. [[spoiler:Happened [[CallBack again]] in the anime's final episode.]]
* ThenLetMeBeEvil: Or more accurately, be lazy. She claims that her kind, angelic overachiever she was in heaven was all a farce and she was repressing her true self who was a lazy, selfish, good-for-nothing otaku who didn't give a care about what happened to the world.
* ThisIsWrongOnSoManyLevels: During the second [=OVA=], [[spoiler:and after witnessing Vignette and Satanichia's distress, she questions the fact that heaven's mandate dictates non-intervention when it came to saving the life of their new friend. By herself, she both fixes the girl's injuries and restores her eyesight, facing divine punishment for these.]]
* TomboyishPonytail: Ties her hair like this for work.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Used to be a sweet angel who wants to help people. She is now a selfish gamer Otaku slacker who acts like an asshole towards everyone.
* UnknownRival: To Satanichia, who considers her actions (tardiness, sleeping in class, and doodling on textbooks) as high level acts of villainy, and strives to one-up her someday. Gabriel, on the other hand, doesn't give a damn about Satanichia.
* UnsympatheticComedyProtagonist: She's an unrepentant jerk, so it's easy to laugh when bad things befall her.
* UsedToBeASweetKid: Before discovering video games she was a happy and kind person out to help the world.
* WeWantOurJerkBack: After Gabriel is reverted back to her model-student, perfect, angel self by being disciplined by Zelel, her friends have this reaction. Satania is at first delighted to have a [[ExtremeDoormat submissive]], [[AllLovingHeroine all-loving]] angel as her personal slave willing to bring her food and do her homework, but then Gabriel's concern for Satania's wellbeing leads her to restrict Satania's life (e.g. forbidding her melon bread, making her read excessive volumes of demonic encyclopedia, and disabling the Hell Shopping Network by shooting the host). While Vignette who has been accustomed to catering to Gabriel's ever whim is now lost for a cause since Gabriel is so responsible. So the girls resort to corrupting Gabriel back into a faillen angel. But turns out Gabriel had never been restored to her angelic self and was putting on an even bigger act then last time.
* VocalEvolution: Before her [[CorruptTheCutie corruption]] into a selfish otaku gamer, she had a much higher and cuter voice.
* YouDontLookLikeYou: Tapris initially doesn't recognize the now-slobbish Gabriel until Raphiel grooms her.
* YourAnswerToEverything: Many times she contemplates solving all her problems by blowing on the [[InstrumentOfMurder First Trumpet of the Apocalypse]] which would result in the end of the world. Vignette has to keep talking her out of it.

A devil who is, ironically, kind and responsible. She is constantly trying to keep Gabriel, her best friend in check.
----
* AngryChef: Reveals herself to be one in Cooking Club, where it's one of the rare occasions she will get violent and actually knocks Gabriel out when she pushes her too far.
* ArmorPiercingQuestion: When she asks the Angel Coffee owner how to commit bad deeds.
* AscendedDemon: In the OVA though it isn't brought up unlike Gabriel's FallenAngel status, Vignette is a demon with a holy aura, getting a censor glare that covers up her entire body
* BadLiar: Being altruistic and kind-hearted, Vignette has great difficulty in telling lies, as she was forced to do so to Zelel to cover for Gabriel.
* BerserkButton: Vignette is a great lover of "events" and will celebrate anything no matter how small and woe beware anyone who tries to mess up the event.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: While she is incredibly nice, even she can lose her temper and resort to violent measures, which usually gets everyone to fall in line quickly.
** When Gabriel makes fun of an already stressed-out Vignette during cooking class, she responds by knocking out Gabriel with a single punch; even Satanichia is absolutely terrified by this. Though funnily enough while earlier she does threaten both Gabriel and Satanichia with a knife, she can't even kill a fish when they named it.
** When Gabriel and Satanichia pose the threat of ruining her Christmas party, she throws forks at them with deadly precision to keep them in line.
* BigFriendlyDog: Her pet ifrit, Chappy. Vignette found it as a small puppy (as in no bigger than a regular-sized bowl) during a mountain trip the year before she went to the human world. When she returns, Chappy has grown so big that she can barely get it through the front door of the Tsukinose's house.
* CannotSpitItOut: The manga confirms Vigne is in love with Gabriel, but can't muster the courage to say it.
* CharacterFocus: She gets this treatment in Episode 7, where she looks for ideas to commit acts of evilness in an attempt to win more points with Hell in the first half, and the second half where she comes down with a cold.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: As the TokenGoodTeammate she struggles to do evil deeds. Being forced to lie for Gabriel she says can't take much more and is turning to the darkside, before Raphiel reminds her that she was on the dark side to begin with.
* ClingyJealousGirl: As the story progresses, she starts to become even more attached to Gabriel than before. And nothing embodies this trope like their introduction into their third year at school when they are separated into different classes. Vignette ends up struggling to stay focus during school hours. Making mistakes like calling other students Gabriel out of habit and then apologizing when she realizes she's talking to someone else. She is constantly fidgeting about and looking at the time. Raphael takes a lot of pleasure in watching her struggle to cope with this change. Even stating that she's suffering from Gabriel Withdrawal syndromes.
** This goes further when...[[spoiler: Michael joins Gabriel's class. And she gets along very well with her. Much to Vignette's displeasure at how well they get along with each other.]]
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: She more or less takes care of Gabriel and keeps her from going too off the deep end. She also sometimes does the same for Satanichia and Raphiel.
* CornerOfWoe: Happens in the OVA when Satanichia refuses to go to the onsen with her.
* CountingSheep: In the second half of Episode 7 where she comes down with a cold; she does this in an attempt to fall asleep more easily. Except she forgets what animal she's supposed to count, and settles for Cerberi (plural for Cerberus), and later, ''Gabriel'', of all things.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Purple hair and eyes.
* CutenessProximity: She and Raphiel find Gabriel in a werecat costume adorable.
* TheCutie: Vignette is downright ''adorable'' at almost everything she does, and she's the only girl of the four that the others cannot sincerely badmouth for anything.
* DarkIsNotEvil: She's a black haired demon, but she's a genuine NiceGirl who wishes to help everyone.
* EnragedByIdiocy: While she's a NiceGirl for the most part, her role as the OnlySaneMan to Gabriel and Satanichia can only go so far before they got on her nerves.
%%* EstablishingCharacterMoment: She serves as the [[OnlySaneMan sane one]] who keeps Gabriel in check.
* EvilIsPetty: Although she's usually quite nice, when she does try her hand at being evil it comes off as this. Her idea of being evil includes: loosening her bow and leaving her socks baggy, leaving Gabriel's pen with the tip out, and not taking notes for a whole 60 minutes in class. The sheer 'evilness' actually overwhelms her.
* FlatWhat: Her face when she reacts to Satanichia's "evilness" spiel reeks of this.
* {{Foil}}:
** An exact opposite to Gabriel, being a kind and responsible demon, in contrast to Gab's rude and lazy angel.
** Also to Sataniachia. While both of them are demons who fail at being evil, Satania actually has a desire to be evil but comes as a [[EvilIsPetty petty]] HarmlessVillain whose more immature than malicious, while Vignette has no desire to be evil to begin with and spends her days being nice.
* TheHeart: Vignette is the main reason Gabriel, Raphiel and Satanichia are friends and spend time together, though she sometimes resorts to violence in order to make them get along when they get too overbearing.
* HornsOfVillainy: Her horns appear on her head every time she summons her pitchfork. Although she averts the villainy part, as despite her status as a demon, she is anything but villainous.
* HypocriticalHumor: In a particularly fully twist of {{irony}}, Vignette is ''awful'' at being a demon just like Satanichia, but in different aspects than her fellow demon. Unlike Satanichia, who puts up a hammy front of what her impression of how a demon should behave is, ''Vignette is not even trying'', and it's shown that this has made a dent in her monthly allowance.
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: Vignette never steers away from the path of good deeds no matter how often she learns BeingGoodSucks. Even her attempts at being evil come off as very minor and petty things that no one would even notice. The blind girl who can sense otherwordly beings actually starts Vignette had a more prominent divine aura then the angels did.
* InSeriesNickname: "Vigne", short for "Vignette".
* {{Irony}}: As shown in the first [=OVA=], Vigne's "holiness" shines brighter than Gabriel and Raphi's ''combined''... and she's a ''demon''. She's that much a NiceGirl.
* LensFlareCensor: has a Divine-class holy light covering her whole body when she's naked, outshining both Gabriel and Raphiel combined
* LovingBully: She has little inconvenience decking Gabriel and Satanichia if they get too overbearing.
* MagneticHero: It's because of Vignette that the four girls are friends to begin with, as she extends her hand to all of them without judgement or prejudice. She also makes it rather obvious that they are all very dear to her, and makes a considerable effort to make them get along. As such, albeit the other three girls don't exactly get along that well, they are Vignette's friends for who she is.
* NatureVersusNurture: Despite being born a demon she doesn't remotely act like one, being a kind soul who cares for her friends. She even gets mistaken for an angel at one point, to which Gabriel suggests she quit being a demon.
* NiceGirl: Lampshaded by Gabriel, in that Vignette doesn't actually act like a demon as she is responsible, friendly, and has a habit of helping others in need.
* NoJustNoReaction: Played for laughs. Her friends find her application of the trope so frightening that they relent to her wishes with little protest.
* NoodleIncident: It was briefly mentioned in episode 2 of the anime that her job used to be "making single men disappear." What this meant was never explained. Though the lines in question implies demons in general used to do it, not Vigne specifically.
* OnlySaneWoman: For a demon, Vignette is perhaps ironically the most level-headed, kind, and responsible individual as opposed to the lazy Gabriel, the "evil" Satanichia, and the sadistic, trollish Raphiel. Though at times she is also shown to be NotSoAboveItAll due to the others' antics.
* PhraseCatcher: "It's an Angel" or some variation as she tends to lighten the mood and help people anywhere she goes.
* PokeThePoodle: Like Satanichia, her idea of villainy is nothing more than doing simple bad deeds, and she's not even good at them. The first half of episode 7 has her doing things like not dressing up properly, leaving another student's (Gabriel in this case) pen uncovered, and not taking notes in class (skipping class entirely wasn't an option, being too far beyond the pale).
* PoliteVillainsRudeHeroes: The Polite Villain to Gabriel's Rude Hero (Although, Vignette is not technically evil, she's just referred to as "The Kind Devil").
* SoProudOfYou: Vignette is particularly delighted at the fact that Satanichia adopted the stray dog that always follows her around.
* StealthInsult: Invoked. Vignette is very snarky, but the "stealth" part is not so pronounced. For instance, whenever she throws barbs at Raphiel, Raphiel in turns deflects her rather direct insults as being harmless.
* StraightMan: The sanest and most normal member in a CastFullOfCrazy.
* TeamMom: She often finds her self in this position being the most responsible one, when her friends are: a LazyBum, a [[TheGadfly troll]], and a [[EvilIsPetty petty]] [[HarmlessVillain villain wannabe]].
* TenderTears:
** When she learns that Satanichia decided to adopt the dog that always torments her.
** With Satanichia during the second [=OVA=], when [[spoiler:Gabriel saves their human friend from mortal injury and restores her eyesight.]]
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: She blows up Gabriel's room just to kill a cockroach.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Out of the main quartet, she is the only one with no immoral qualities whatsoever, the angels don't act like angels, while her fellow demon Satania tries (and fails) to be evil.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: As said on MagneticHero, her three friends don't get along and are unreliable as all hell, but they ''are friends'' because of her.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Her katsaridaphobia (fear of cockroaches) is taken to ''[[ExaggeratedTrope absurd lengths]]'' to the point that she attempts to kill one with her pitchfork, ''blowing up'' Gabriel's room in the process.

A devil who often comes up with petty ideas of "evilness".
----
* AttentionWhore: She loves being the center of attention, [[EvilIsHammy hamming]] it up big time with her proclamations of how evil she is.
* BadLiar: Her attempt to pass off as an angel to infiltrate Heaven fails miserably, and is quickly dragged away by two customs guards.
* BehavioralConditioning:
** She can be conditioned using [[TrademarkFavoriteFood melon bread]]. Vignette and Raphiel each holding up melon bread in front of her while endlessly repeating the phrase "Merry Christmas" finally gets her to submit and enjoy the holiday festivities.
** Similarly, Raphiel is able to put Satania into a trance by saying "Merry Christmas" and "melon bread" in conjunction with each other.
* BeingEvilSucks: She comes to learn that being evil isn't all fun and games as she had been led to believe. Misbehaving in class leads to punishment, stirring up trouble among her friends leads them to bully her back even worse, and being rude leads them to neglect kindness they would have otherwise given.
* BizarreTasteInFood: Her friends call her "taste-deaf" as she finds food with excessive spice to be delicious. Several attempts at pranking her this way have failed.
* BlobMonster: Buys one in the HotSpringsEpisode OVA, which she attempts to defeat Gabriel with.
* BookDumb:
** She lacks a lot of common sense, not knowing what disposable chopsticks that are stuck together are and thinks they are a single chopstick. When told to break the chopsticks in half, she snaps it down the middle rather than breaking where she's supposed to.
** Despite scoring poor marks during the mid-term examinations, she somehow passes.
* BoundAndGagged: Once by Vignette to stop her from ruining Christmas with her shenanigans, and again by Gabriel to hide her from her sister. In the latter episode, it's revealed that Raphiel supplied them with the necessary material, which she conveniently carries around just in case.
* BreakoutCharacter: The anime gives her more focus than the manga, making her a {{Deuteragonist}} of sorts.
* BrutalHonesty: She is outright dismissive of Coffee Angel's House Blend.
* ButtMonkey: Poor Satanichia; she gets regularly abused by Gabriel or messed with by Raphiel and nothing ever goes her way.
* CatchPhrase: "I am the Great Archdemon Kurumizawa Satanichia Mcdowell, Queen of all Hell!"
* CardCarryingVillain: Played For Laughs, she proudly admits that she is a satanic hellspawn who is out to cause as much misery to humanity as possible but nobody takes her seriously because of how petty her definition of evil is and most people just find her weird.
* CheatersNeverProsper: Averted. She cheats against Tapris in a game of Old Maid and gets away with it.
* {{Chuunibyou}}: Her "evilness" spiel easily paints her as this.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: To a larger degree than Gabriel, what with her "evilness" spiel and all. Her family also consists of oddballs, minus her LiteralMinded, [[OnlySaneMan snarky little brother]], acting like they're rich and living in a castle.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Red hair and eyes.
* CuteLittleFangs: She sports one.
* CuteClumsyGirl: One of her defining features and one of the aspects that makes her so endearing to fans.
* DaddysGirl: To a point. Satanichia's parents ''adore her'' and her hammy spiels, but lending her money to move to a new apartment that allows mascots? '''Nope!'''
* {{Deuteragonist}}: In the anime, [[BreakoutCharacter she is almost as prominent as Gabriel is, if not more]].
* TheDevilIsALoser: At best, no one takes notice of her "evilness" spiel. At worst, it gets her into trouble.
* TheDogBitesBack: At the end of Episode 8, she takes advantage of Raphiel's ranidaphobia, getting back at her by chasing her while carrying a frog.
* TheDragAlong: Invoked. In spite Vigne's efforts to include her in their group of friends, it's apparent that Raphi and Gabriel only keep Satania around because she's unwittingly hilarious and ripe to make fun of. Still, even with all the chewing she goes through on their account, Satania does enjoy spending time with all of them.
* DumbJock: Satanichia may be dumb, but she is quite competent in sports, second only to Raphiel.
* EatingLunchAlone: "Suspiciously" sneaks off to eat lunch by herself; she scoffs at the idea of eating together with "lowly" beings. Vignette can't help but feel sorry for her.
* ElegantGothicLolita: Not in the story proper, but the anime's ending theme shows her dressed like this.
* EpicFail: Her botched introduction to Tapris, when she falls over to the side while locked inside a locker after a failed attempt to unlock it. [[PluckyGirl She handles it very gracefully, though]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Her first scene shows her laughing maniacally at not putting a bottlecap in its proper receptacle.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** Heartless and demonic as she claims to be, she cannot bear the thought of a stray dog being put down if she can do something to prevent it, even if it's the very same stray dog that has been stealing her melon bread for months.
** In the second [=OVA=] she admonishes Raphiel for [[spoiler:adhering to the heaven's mandate of non-intervention in the human world, even for the sake of saving an innocent girl that they had befriended and was ran over by a car; while Raphiel sticks to it, however, Gabriel doesn't, thus saving the girl]].
* EvilCounterpart: To Gabriel. While Gabriel is a "faillen angel" who neglects her angelic duties, Satanichia is a failed demon who tries to be evil but has no success. While both of them are antisocial, Gabriel does so because she became detached from society and indulged in her game, while Satania does so because she is out to prove she's bad but has little luck. Gabriel was an overachiever before she sunk, while Satania is BookDumb and easily manipulated.
* EvilIsHammy: Parodied, where she is constantly looking for ways to cause mischief... only for no one to take her seriously, and usually gets into trouble for it.
* EvilIsPetty: Her idea of acting evil includes recycling a bottle with the cap still on, not refilling the toilet paper dispenser, and deliberately not doing her homework.
* EvilLaugh: She often breaks one out during her hammy spiels.
* EvilRedhead: The evil part is downplayed, but she's still a red-haired demon.
* ExtremeDoormat: As long as you tell her to do it in an authoritative way she tends to do whatever anyone tells her no explanation needed, such as handing her devil python over to Gabriel or being told to raise her hand so Vignette could give her a high five.
* FauxAffablyEvil: The rare instance she does so rather than being straight up rude, is when she is intimidating Tapris.
* {{Foil}}: Vignette is about as bad a demon as she is, but in a ''different'' way. Satanichia thinks of herself as legitimately evil but her idea of evil comes off as [[EvilIsPetty petty]] and [[PokeThePoodle childish]], while Vignette's conscience leads her to struggle doing anything bad in the first place and she at times asks for pointers from odd advisers like Gabriel or the Master on how she should act bad.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Gabriel finds her tremendously annoying and Vignette tolerates her at best and only invites her to things out of pity. Raphiel takes delight in teasing her relentlessly.
** In the penultimate episode of the anime, it's shown that when Gabriel asked the Master to allow Satanichia to keep the dog, Gabriel referred to Satanichia as "her friend", which is saying ''an awful lot''; still, it's later shown that Satanichia is just as ancillary to Gabriel as Vignette and Raphiel in terms of "friendship", which is nothing to be calling home about, actually...
* GenkiGirl: Always loud and energetic.
* GirlishPigtails: A pair which form a loop.
* GratuitousEnglish: "I... feel... so... good!", which she exclaims during a mock job interview with her homeroom teacher.
* GunsAreWorthless: The worst that her Devil Python does is make its victim [[MirthlessLaughter laugh non-stop for ten minutes]].
* HammerspaceHideaway: Satanichia was able to hide inside Gabriel's desk drawer by generating an infernal portal inside it.
* HarmlessVillain: Satanichia thinks she's committing great acts of evil, but about the worst she's done is try to shoot her rival with a magic gun that would cause Gabriel to laugh uncontrollably for ten minutes.
* HatesBeingAlone: Satanichia gets lonely very easily, so she makes every effort she can possibly muster to be included whenever Gabriel, Raphiel and Vignette gather. Thing is, said efforts are [[DidntThinkThisThrough not very well planned]] most of the time.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard:
** She's gullible enough to lend her Devil Python to Gabriel, who then uses it without hesitation to shoot Satanichia and cause her to laugh for ten minutes straight. By the time homeroom begins, Satanichia is still laughing... and meets the teacher's wrath.
** The slime that she summons in an onsen turns against her, trapping her inside of itself.
* HonestJohnsDealership: Satanichia is addicted to the Hell Shopping Network and she buys their crappy products as often as she can, sometimes blowing most of her allowance for the month. All her friends insist that she should seriously stop buying stuff from them, even if she means to buy something to gift to her friends. In episode 13, Gabriel even shoots the host through the TV with an angelic bow in an effort to make Satanichia stop.
* HypocriticalHumor: After being set up by Raphiel so she's left without her normal clothes, she calls Raphiel a demon, before Gabriel reminds her that Satania is the actual demon.
* IdiotsCannotCatchColds: Satanichia is quite proud of the fact that she has never been sick her entire life. She even takes Gabriel's jab at her idiocy in relation to her immunity to colds as praise, because she didn't get the joke.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: In spite of her overall attitude, she absolutely loves spending time with Vignette, Gabriel and Raphiel... though this is somewhat mutual at best. Before Vignette brought her in, she was '''extremely''' lonely.
* InSeriesNickname: "Satania", short for "Satanichia".
* IronButtMonkey: She's not particularly happy with the stuff Gabriel and Raphiel put her through, as she has taken punishment from them that would have killed a normal person several times over (especially from Gabriel, who has little inconvenience with beating the crap out of her). Still, she doesn't mind enough that she wouldn't seek their company nevertheless.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: In the anime, she adopts the stray dog that keeps stealing his melon bread because she cannot abide for it to be put down at a dog pound. She even gives the dog the bigger half of her melon bread when they reach Hokkaido. Even [[spoiler:Gabriel]] is moved by the gesture and even pulls some strings behind Satanichia's back for her to be able keep the dog.
* LargeHam: She will break into hammy spiels of how she'll one day rule hell, complete with exaggerated gestures and bombastic delivery.
* {{Leitmotif}}: One played by an OminousPipeOrgan.
* LikeFatherLikeSon: As seen in episode 10, she inherited all her caricature and non-existent "maliciousness" from parents who drink tomato juice under the guise of blood and fantasize that their confectionery is a factory of the devil's elixir.
* LiteralMinded: Assumes that tanuki udon and kitsune udon are literally a tanuki and kitsune, respectively, in bowls of udon.
* MockMillionaire: Her family, minus her brother, acts like they live in a [[BigFancyHouse big fancy castle]] but in reality they live in a bakery shop while pretending that they're rich.
* MomentKiller: She manages to genuinely intimidate Tapris by hiding her presence in the room while speaking in an ominous voice. However when asked to reveal herself, she had shut herself in a locker and [[DidntThinkThisThrough the door has been locked]].
* MyFriendsAndZoidberg: Gabriel could argue that, sure, Vignette and Raphiel are her friends; Satanichia? Not quite so. "Barely tolerated" would be a good description of how Gabriel views Satanichia. Still, Gabriel is not above helping her, so long as Satanichia doesn't find out.
* MyNewGiftIsLame: Satanichia often tries to impress her friends with gifts that cater to her tastes and not quite what's needed/wanted at the moment. She is terrible at both shopping and gifting. Funnily enough, her intentions are almost always sincere and kind, but she ends up messing up everything anyway.
* NiceGirl: In spite of her best efforts to be otherwise, Satanichia is both kind and doting, and she's shown to be rather fond of her friends even when she's supposed to be antagonizing them, striving earnestly for their approval and to be included. She still has a rather inflated impression of herself, though.
* NightmareFace: One day, as it's raining outside, Satanichia angrily notices that someone took her umbrella. Cue Raphiel, who offers her umbrella to walk together back home. Understandably, Satanichia is vigilant of Raphiel the whole way, and she's so terrified of the prospect of what Raphiel will do to her that ''even the veins on her eyes are popping''. Ironically, Raphiel had no plans of doing anything to Satanichia at that particular moment other than walking home.
* NoblewomansLaugh: Does this after proudly admitting to not doing her homework...''[[PokeThePoodle deliberately]]''. In true Satania fashion she can't even get ''this'' right: it starts off well enough, but rapidly devolves into goofy, maniacal cackling.
* OhCrap:
** Even while under the effects of the Devil Python, she is visibly nervous as her homeroom teacher approaches her.
** When she learns that the dog that always torments her is about to be put down at the dog pound.
* {{Ojou}}: Episode 10 reveals that Satanichia comes from a pretty affluent family, and lives in a BigFancyHouse. Turns out [[MockMillionaire it's fake]].
* PaperThinDisguise: Her attempts to disguise herself as an angel is to attach a fake halo connected via a wire, as well as forgetting to hide her demon horns. She immediately gets dragged off by angel security for her trouble.
* PerpetualPoverty: Satanichia spends most of her allowance buying things from the Hell Shopping Network. Her case is such that Gabriel has to actually shoot the host of the shopping network in an effort to make Satanichia stop buying their crappy products.
%%* PlayfulCatSmile: She has one that shows up frequently when she's being mischievous, even when she's just speaking.
* PluckyGirl: Annoyingly so. She doesn't get discouraged easily, though she is very prone to biting more than she can chew.
* PokeThePoodle: Her idea of "evil" is ridiculously petty. For example, she considers the mere act of pulling Gabriel's chair before she could sit on it as an act so heinous she might get banished from hell because of it.
* PunchedAcrossTheRoom:
** Falls victim to this at the hands of Gabriel, being punched in the gut and thrown out of Coffee Angel.
** Again, when she rings the doorbell outside of Gabriel's house repeatedly, to which Gabriel responds by kicking her door and sending it flying off the hinges and into Satanichia, knocking her out cold.
* RedundancyDepartmentOfRedundancy: Her chocolate-loaded Christmas shortcake:
-->'''Satanichia:''' "Perfection! Behold the ''Special Satanichia Black Special and Special''"
* {{Revenge}}: Satania finally gets to have her revenge on Raphiel for being endlessly messed with when she finds out Raphiel is scared of frogs.
* TheRival: Satania views herself as Gabriel's TheRival, although Gabriel [[UnknownRival doesn't give a crap]] and beats her up for her trouble.
* RunningGag: In the anime, the stray dog that always steals her melon bread.
* {{Satan}}: Just as the Gabriel and Raphiel are named after famous archangels, Satanichia is named after the devil.
* SitcomArchnemesis:
** To Gabriel, with the two of them often going out of their way to make each other's lives miserable. Satania tries to mess with Gabriel and that earns her a beating from Gabriel.
** The stray dog that kept stealing her melon bread, though she eventually adopts it as a familiar.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Satania loves to proclaim she's the epitome of evil, but her actions always fall short of her boasts and she comes off as immature.
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: While trying to infiltrate heaven she claims she's definitely an angel and not a demon trying to infiltrate and spy on heaven in order to make a name for herself in hell.
* SelfDeprecation: Makes a remark about how her antics don't work after eating a "despair" candy, one of the "flavors" of the Seven Color Drops.
* SmallNameBigEgo: She talks a lot about how she'll be the next queen of Hell, but most people don't pay any attention to her.
* SmugSmiler: At times, when scheming something "evil".
** Especially at the end of Episode 8, when she realizes that Raphiel is afraid of frogs. She uses this fear to her advantage, chasing Raphiel while carrying a frog.
* SomethingWeForgot: Satania had the misfortune of arriving at Gabriel's apartment while the angel was in a bad mood, who ends up kicking the door off the hinges into Satania and knocking her out cold. Gabriel then leaves and decides to stay the night at Vignette's house, but has a nagging feeling she has forgotten something. Cue to the still [=KOed=] Satania underneath Gabriel's broken door with a mosquito landing on her face.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Is her nickname transliterated as "Satania" or "Satanya"?
* StandingInTheHall: She gets this punishment for deliberately skipping her homework.
* SuperGullible: She'll believe nearly anything that's told to her, even more so if she's buttered up with some overblown praise.
* SureLetsGoWithThat: When Zelel came to visit, to keep Satania behaved Gabriel had knocked her out, bound her, gagged her and stuffed her in the closet. However once Satania breaks out, Gabriel claims she's an archdemon. To everyone's surprise Satania is all too happy to go along with the story and declares she was indeed an archdemon.
* TalkingToThemself: Does this after overhearing Vignette's beach trip plans, hoping she'd get invited as she wasn't approached about it.
* TeamRocketWins: She finally finds some success in her attempts at being evil in the form of [[SuperGullible Tapris]], who sees her as an actual demonic threat and genuinely believed her to be responsible for corrupting Gabriel.
* TenderTears: When she admonishes Raphiel for [[spoiler:not acting to save their friend's life from mortal injury during the second [=OVA=]. This is so moving that it prompts Gabriel to restore the girl to health, violating heaven's mandate to non-action. Seeing the girl once again drives Satanichia and Vignette to TearsOfHappiness]].
* TerribleArtist: Her image of the ClassRepresentative is poorly drawn. [[https://i.gyazo.com/b6f23ccdfaaf1266f65dc36e4c6c4d73.png See for yourself.]]
* ThenLetMeBeEvil: Inverted. Satanichia is ''nowhere'' as evil as she totes herself to be; if anything, she's borderline NiceGirl in spite of her best efforts.
* ThrowTheDogABone: She gets this in the form of Tapris who is the only person to actually treat her like a demon. Raphiel was behind this because she thought it'd be hilarious.
--> '''Satanichia''': That was ''awesome''! Who knew forcing an angel to surrender would feel ''this'' good?
* {{Tomboy}}: Invoked. Satanichia is somewhat of a muscle-head, at least compared to her three companions, who are more "girly" to say the least. She's also not above picking frogs in the street, or wrestling a dog for her melon bread. Still, Satanichia is not an off-the-wall tomboyish, as she is still girlier than most examples of this trope.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Melon bread in the anime.
* TryingNotToCry: In the second OVA, she denies that she's crying while actively bawling when [[spoiler:Gabriel basically reconstructs and completely fixes the blind girl after she was run over by a car, facing divine punishment for her actions]]. Satanichia's not fooling anyone, though.
* UnaffectedBySpice: To quote Vigne, she's "Taste deaf" to spice. As Gab and Raphi both found out to their disappointment when they tried pranking her with it.
* UnsportsmanlikeGloating: Brags about her victory after beating Tapris over a game of Old Maid.
* VillainProtagonist: By her own admission she's an evil demon, but she's a main character as well as a HarmlessVillain whose idea of being evil is [[EvilIsPetty very childish misbehaving]].
* WhatTheHellHero: In the second OVA, [[spoiler:Satanichia tearfully berates Raphiel for her inaction at saving their new friend girl who was run over by a car, as Raphiel and Gabriel are forbidden under the rules of Heaven to intervene]].
* WorthyOpponent: She is the bane of Tapris, though it stems from the fact that they're both dumb as bricks.
* YouKeepTellingYourselfThat: In spite of her hammy spells, overblown pretensions, unwarranted pride and belligerent behavior, Satanichia ''loves'' spending time with Gabriel, Vignette and Raphiel and strives to be included as much as she can.
* YourAnswerToEverything: "Evilness".
* YourApprovalFillsMeWithShame: An inverted villainous example. She hates being called nice and kind by her friends the rare times she does show it, insisting that's she's a demon doing it for her own benefit.

An angel who was in the same class as Gabriel back in heaven. She is sadistic and often enjoys teasing Satanichia.
----
%%* TheAce: She is second only to Gabriel, prior to the latter's regression into a slacker.
%%* ArchangelRaphael: Her namesake.
%%* BerserkButton: Do NOT call her a demon, as Tapris finds out by mistake.
* BigBreastPride: She enjoys flaunting her buxom figure to the flat-chested Gabriel.
%%* BishieSparkles: Much like Gabriel, Raphiel is often accompanied by these.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: She's soft-spoken, cheerful, and comes across as a sweetie. She also loves to annoy (like pressing her boobs on Gabriel's face and head) or make others suffer (her manipulations of Satanichia) for amusement.
* BlatantLies: She fools Tapris into believing that Satanichia was responsible for Gabriel's regression into a faillen angel.
* BoobBasedGag: She's the bustiest of the four, and her boobs are the butt of the show's boob-related gags, such as experiencing DCupDistress over outgrowing her bras or deliberately triggering Gabriel's ACupAngst.
* BuxomBeautyStandard: She's the bustiest of the main characters, something [[ACupAngst the flat-chested Gabriel is clearly jealous of]].
* CameraFiend: She sends to airways have a camera on hand to capture shots of her friends in embarrassing situations.
%%* PlayfulCatSmile: Often has one on her face when she's being mischievous and messing with others.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: The stuff and rules she can come up with for games and even gatherings can be extremely off the wall.
* ComedicSociopathy: In the well-oiled machine of ''Gabriel [=DropOut=]'', Raphiel is the element that throws the wrenches at the gears.
* CutenessProximity: She and Vignette find Gabriel in a werecat costume adorable.
* DCupDistress: One episode shows she has trouble getting bras that fit her figure, and she had to endure a fitness test while trying not to move so much so as to not rip off her bra.
* TheDreaded: She becomes this to Satania, who after being messed with and pranked endlessly came to be terrified of Raphiel and started suspecting everything was a trick. When Raphiel went for a walk with her, Satania was paranoid to the point in thinking a puddle in front of them was a booby-trap.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Her introductory sequence has her mess with Satanichia.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Her personal servant, Matilda, has a rather blatant crush on her.
* EyesAlwaysShut: While she does open her eyes a fair bit, they are closed in about half her appearances and often when she's talking to others.
* FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon: Literally. She's a literal angel yet uses her angelic exterior to mess with others for her own amusement, especially Satania.
* FallenAngel: Much like Gabriel, although it's more subtle in her case as [[BitchInSheepsClothing she still pretends to be a model angel]]. In Raphiel's case she's a [[TheGadfly massive troll]] and a [[StalkerWithACrush stalker-in-training]].
* {{Foil}}:
** To Vignette. Whereas Vignette is a demon who can't help being nice, Raphiel is an angel who loves being mischievous.
** She's also an opposite to Gabriel. Gabriel is a JerkWithAHeartOfGold, having a cold and rude exterior to hide a softer side underneath. Raphiel puts on a sweet and caring demeanor, but is secretly a [[TheGadfly massive troll]] who loves to torment her friends for her own amusement.
* TheGadfly: She ''loves'' to mess with Satanichia, even outright calling Satania her new toy. Though she does so with everyone to some degree.
* GenderBlenderName: Raphiel is a male given name, though the original angel itself is genderless.
* HeroWorshipper: In a twisted example, she is most amused and enabling of Gabriel's antics and actively encourages her to escalate the zaniness of the situation. She even tells Vignette and Satanichia that she loves all versions of Gabriel. All in all, she messes with Gabriel the least because she's hilarious all on her own and without any help.
%%* IdiotHair: Sports one, though she's not really an idiot, just incompetent at being an angel.
* InLoveWithYourCarnage: It's Gabriel's immorality that Raphiel is drawn towards, such as when Gabriel piled lies upon lies to her older sister, Raphiel is impressed rather than shocked.
* InSeriesNickname: "Raphi", short for "Raphiel".
* {{Irony}}:
** Even considering her straight-arrow behavior, politeness, and angelic demeanor, Raphiel is the evilest of the four girls. Vignette speculates that she's just as "faillen" as Gabriel, if not more.
** Raphiel is a "devilish" angel; Vignette is an "angelic" demon. Among the four girls, they get along the best.
** Despite being a crazy stalker she herself has a crazy stalker in the form of her personal servant.
* ItAmusedMe: Her main incentive to do anything is its entertainment value for herself.
* LovingBully: Invoked. By the way she stalks and hammers on Satanichia, one might wonder if she does it just to amuse herself. She is not as dedicated to either Gabriel or Vignette as she is to Satanichia in that respect.
* ManipulativeBitch: She often goes to a lot of effort to set up her trolling antics.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: The one time she decided to not troll Satanichia. The latter finds out about her ranidaphobia.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: To Vignette's speculation, Raphiel is just as "faillen" as Gabriel is, only that Raphiel has a KarmaHoudini quality to her mischief.
* OddFriendship: In hindsight, Gabriel, Vignette and Satanichia should be as fed up with her as they are with Satanichia herself. At least Satanichia is trying to become friends with them; Raphiel is just there to {{Troll}} them.
* {{Ojou}}: Raphiel is shown to belongs to an affluent family of angels, lives in a BigFancyHouse, and has her own personal butler.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Sure, she likes to troll her friends, [[spoiler:but when it comes to a blind girl's fight to stay alive after a serious accident and seeing Satanichia and Vignette in tears, that's no time for jokes and smiles]], as shown in the second OVA.
* PetTheDog: One time she genuinely wanted offer to walk Satanichia back in the rain with an umbrella. Ironically, at this point Satania has become so paranoid of Raphiel that she suspects everything to be a trap that she's set up.
* PerpetualSmiler: She is always smiling, even when she's scared or angry.
* {{Sadist}}: [[{{Schadenfreude}} She gets a kick out of making others suffer]].
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: To mess with her friends, Raphiel would pull every contact she has in heaven even to modify the ''freakin' weather''.
** Averted in the second [=OVA=], as despite being a member of an influential family of angels (influential enough to pull off the above example just for trolling), Raphiel is powerless to save the blind girl they befriended when she is hospitalized and in the brink of death, as intervening with human affairs is forbidden by Heaven's mandate. Raphiel is even ashamed of how she could do nothing for the girl.
* SilverTongue: She has one that could sell condoms to nuns, and she knows how to put it to good use. In spite of her penchant for lying and trolling her friends, Raphiel is nothing short of polite and demure, to the point that it's remarkable what she can pull off without being even remotely rude.
* SoProudOfYou: She is moved by Gabriel's efforts to [[spoiler:save the blind girl in the OVA]], especially considering that Gabriel would endure divine retribution for her deeds.
* SpockSpeak: Continues to play this trope straight, unlike Gabriel who no longer uses formal linguistics (at least, outside of formal situations) after she became an extreme slacker.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: She is obsessed with messing with Satanichia, to the point of breaking into her house, though it is debatable if she likes her in a romantic way or just likes messing with her.
* StunnedSilence: In the second [=OVA=] she's visibly ashamed when [[spoiler:Satanichia berates her for her inaction to save their new friend's life after she was run over by a car, as Raphiel is forbidden to intervene by Heaven's mandate]].
* ThoseTwoGirls: Out of the four protagonists, she and Vignette spend the most time together and have the closest to a normal "friendly" relationship; this, because they are not hostile to one another.
* TranquilFury: In the rare instances she gets angry she still keeps the smile on her face and never raises her voice. The only indication of her mood is the words she's saying and a tell tale CrossPoppingVeins.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: She's apparently ranidaphobic (afraid of frogs). [[TheDogBitesBack Satanichia uses this to her advantage, chasing Raphiel while carrying a frog.]]
%%* YourAnswerToEverything: {{Troll}}ing others.

Gabriel and Raphiel's underclassman. She believes Satanichia to be responsible for Gabriel's current state.
----
* AmbiguouslyGay: Her true feelings for Gabriel tend to slip-out via FreudianSlip. She also really, ''really'' wants to be Vignette's friend.
* BrokenPedestal:
** Downplayed. She's completely shocked at her idol Gabriel's moral degradation, but at the same time she found glimmers of hope that deep down the angelic Gabriel she admired still exists (even as she mistakenly blames Satanichia for Gabriel's change).
** Also has this reaction with Vignette, who Tapris admired for her kindness and was under the belief that she had to be an angel too. She is shocked and devastated to find out that she's actually a demon.
* ButIReadABookAboutIt: When trying to learn how to use a PC and the internet Tapris goes to the library to use their computers but has no clue how to use anything or even what a mouse is called, which she mistook for a hamster. The librarian shows her the book section on computers, but it still doesn't help. Though she did learn C and Java, and intends to continue with PHP.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: The most genuine example; she sees protecting Gabriel's dignity as her duty.
* ClingyJealousGirl: One of the reasons for her dislike of Satania aside from believing she corrupted Gabriel is out of jealousy, seeing Satania possessing degrading photos of her idol which she herself would have loved to partake in.
* ADayInTheLimelight:
** She gets a lot of focus in Episode 5, descending to Earth in search of Gabriel.
** Gets this treatment again in the second half of Episode 11, where she is seen gradually integrating into human society.
%%** In Chapter 41.
* DitzyGenius: She is smart enough to go from zero computer knowledge to learning programming languages in just a few hours, but is also extremely gullible and easy to manipulate.
* EarlyBirdCameo: Appears in Episode 1 of the anime, but isn't introduced until Chapter 25 of the manga. In Episode 5 she gets fully introduced but instead of being a new freshman she is instead a prospective middle-schooler.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: She descends to Earth in Episode 5 while in a spacesuit, to search for Gabriel.
* FishOutOfWater: Thus far, Tapris is the only angel who has had trouble adjusting to the human world, despite supposedly studying it back in heaven.
* {{Foil}}: To Satanichia, as both strive to be the best angel and demon respectively, but both are restricted by their low intelligence. It's no wonder Tapris is the only one who sees Satania as a proper demon and a legitimate threat.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: She wants to be Vignette's friend above all, but she is still wary of the fact that Vignette's a demon.
* InSeriesNickname: "Tap", short for "Tapris".
* LovableCoward: She is terrified of even breathing the air, reassesses cats from level D threat to B after one just walks up to her, and assumes the absolute worst of everyone she meets.
* NiceGirl: The only angel to actually act angelic, even if she has a habit of thinking everyone who talks to her is a delinquent.
* OddFriendship: She has a great deal of admiration and earnest drive to become Vignette's friend, a being that for all intents and purposes should be her enemy. This happens to be mutual.
* SkewedPriorities:
** Regardless of the level of "threat" or enmity, she will always refer to her sempais with the proper honorifics.
** When she's having her "duel" with Satanichia, she shows herself more interested in Gabriel's ''saucy'' pictures that Satanichia swings in front of her.
** She ends up being more preoccupied with Gabriel's trash pickup schedule than the fact that her "gift" from Gabriel was the trash itself.
* SlidingScaleOfVillainThreat: She assesses the threat level of any sentient being with a grading system, using some sort of wrist-worn device to do this.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Is it Tapris or Taplis? Crunchyroll uses the former transliteration.
* SpockSpeak: Like Raphiel, Tapris speaks formally at all times.
* SuperGullible: The only one who [[HarmlessVillain Satanichia]] is capable of fooling into believing she's genuinely evil rather than just an immature brat. She thinks Satania is the one who corrupted Gabriel and vows to stop her, but turns out she's just as incompetent at being an angel as Satania is at being a demon.
* TenderTears: She is upset over the fact that Gabriel is no longer the happiness bringer she was. [[spoiler:In some ways, Gabriel is still a happiness bringer indeed, but she's not particularly kind about it (like when helping Satanichia with the stray dog and when she saved the blind girl's life in the second OVA)]].
* {{Tsundere}}: Shows shades of this as she confiscates a photo of Gabriel in her work uniform from Satanichia.
* UselessAccessory: Often seen wearing a light blue scarf.
* WhatTheHellHero: A couple:
** When she sees just how far her beloved sempai Gabriel has "faillen";
** When she learns that Vignette is a demon and assumes that she was playing nice with her to deceive her.
* YouKeepTellingYourselfThat: Tapris both loves and admires Vignette, but is extremely wary of the fact that her dear sempai is a demon. As the other girls keep telling her, this should not be an impediment for them to be friends.

The homeroom adviser of Gabriel, Vignette, and Satanichia. So named because of his iconic shades.
----
* TheDreaded: Known in the student body as being an intimidating teacher.
* InSeriesNickname: Glasses, which are actually shades.
* ManlyTears: When Gabriel returns to her angelic ways, the guy gets uncharacteristically emotional.
* NiceGuy: All in all, even when he's a SternTeacher. He even has candy out for Halloween.
* NoNameGiven: His real name is unknown.
* NotSoStoic: He sheds a tear after Gabriel says it was thanks to his teachings that she was able to do as well as she did.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: He's simply "Glasses" to the rest of the student body.
* ScaryShinyGlasses: Not often, but when he does, it's chilling. Most notably right after the mock-interview he holds with Satanichia and Vignette.
* SternTeacher: Played with. He's a generally easygoing, if stoic man; still, he is rather stern with Satanichia in particular, who is rather good at testing the limits of his patience.
* TheStoic: Never changes his facial expression, even during Satanichia's antics.

----
* ClassRepresentative: Again, of Gabriel, Vignette, and Satanichia's class. She's later revealed to have always been her class' representative since the 3rd grade.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Pretty much everyone addresses her as "Prez". Averted with Tanaka and Ueno of the Cooking Club, who address her by her real name.
* FirstPersonSnarker: Whenever she has to deal with Gabriel, Vignette, and Satanichia, her internal monologues reflect how she feels about her situation. For example, she unintentionally eavesdrops on Gabriel and Vignette's conversation during in episode 2, and becomes increasingly exasperated about the topic of their conversation.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: She is often at a loss whenever she happens to overhear Gabriel, Satanichia and/or Vignette talk about their angelic/demonic stuff, to the point that she cannot reach a logical conclusion to what they discuss.
* NiceGirl: She strives to make Gabriel and Satanichia more involved in class, which very few others would even attempt to do in the first place.
* NoNameGiven: Her real name was unknown until Episode 8.

* ButtMonkey: His house blend is pushed aside by Gabriel and Satanichia, to his dismay.
* {{Delinquent}}: Claims to have been rebellious back in his earlier days.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: He is known only as "Master".
* ExtremeDoormat: Gabriel is able to easily twist him into submission to have her way.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Though his eyes have been seen open at least a few times.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: ''Three'', to be exact; GratuitousItalian, GratuitousSpanish, and GratuitousFrench, when serving Tapris and Raphiel.
* NiceGuy: Alongside Vignette, the Master is one of the nicest characters in ''Gabriel [=DropOut=]'', putting up with all of Gabriel's antics without harboring the slightest grudge.
* NoNameGiven: His real name is unknown.
* PurpleProse: He tends to get very romantic when describing his blends of coffee. He talks like he stepped out of [[Characters/{{Seinfeld}} J. Peterman's]] catalogue from ''Series/{{Seinfeld}}'' in terms of GentlemanAdventurer and MilesGloriosus.
* SecretlyWealthy: He has been able to globe-trot for coffee and run a client-scarce coffee shop because he owns some real estate, including Satanichia's apartment complex. In fact, Gabriel is apparently his only employee, and she only works one day a week with little to no qualms from him.
* SoProudOfYou: He harbors a great deal of admiration for Vignette, though he's initially dismayed at her attempts to do bad deeds.
* ThrowTheDogABone: After his house blend is pushed aside by Gabriel and Satanichia, he gets a break when Vignette tries it and loves it enough to become a regular customer.

Still, Gabriel finds herself unable to turn Haniel down and complies with her young sister's wishes.
* BigSisterWorship: She ''adores'' Gabriel and loves spending time and playing with her.
* BlushStickers: Sports these, highlighting her innocence.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: She is blissfully unaware of how low Gabriel has "faillen". Gabriel also makes an effort not to show it to her.
* GirlishPigtails: Of the two side up variety.

Gabriel's overachieving older sister.
----
* TheAce: Said to be even more talented than Gabriel.
* BerserkButton: She argues that she would be more lenient towards Gabriel had she not lied to her and admitted that she fell.
* {{Clairvoyance}}: She's able to see through Gabriel's invisibility barrier.
* CoolBigSis: Invoked and inverted. Gabriel would have plenty to be proud of when it comes to Zelel, but hers isn't the path Gabriel chose to take. However, it's implied that under different circumstances, Zelel is a doting and caring sister towards Gabriel
* TheDreaded: Gabriel is terrified of her, in particular her unwaiving righteousness and her commanding presence. She's so afraid of Zelel that she even clings to Satanichia for help...
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Her reaction towards the leashed poodle indicates that the dog itself poses no inherent harm towards her, making her snigger; Satanichia's dog, however, is not leashed, making her go ballistic.
* IcyBlueEyes: Subverted. While she initially comes off as strict, she freaks out at the sight of the white dog.
* IdiotHair: Sports a strand, although she is anything but idiotic.
* InvisibleToNormals: She's so powerful that normal mortals are unable to perceive her.
* {{Irony}}: Smiles at a poodle she encounters on her way to Gabriel's house, then shown to be afraid of the white dog that recurring appears throughout the series.
* NotSoStoic: She initially comes off as strict... only to later be revealed that she is ''deathly'' afraid of the white dog.
* ScreamingWoman: Hilariously, she screams over the presence of the white dog.
* SuperGullible: Subverted; she sees through Gabriel's BlatantLies, and brings her back to heaven to rehabilitate her.
* TsurimeEyes: Highlighting her strict personality.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Zigzagged. When she passes by a poodle on her way to Gabriel's house, she smiles at it. On the other hand, she is deathly afraid of the white dog to the point that she is unable to remain on Earth to actively discipline Gabriel as originally intended, and returns to heaven. However, it's implied that she might have not wanted to deal with Gabriel in the first place, and used the dog as an excuse to bail.

A character appearing in the second OVA, she is a legally blind middle-schooler who befriends the four otherworldly girls.
----
* AesopCollateralDamage: Her arc drives home the point that ''Gabriel is an Angel'', warts and all.
* AmbiguousSituation: It's not known whether she realized that she was talking to Gabriel at the end of the episode, though by her warm thanks to Gabriel, it's implied that she was aware.
* BlindSeer: It is heavily implied through her dialogue and actions that being blinded gave her the ability to sense the supernatural aura of the girls. How or why it did so is never explained.
* DisproportionateReward: [[spoiler:Gabriel violates heavenly mandates in order to save her life, completely fix the damage done upon her and even fix her eyes. She'd rather have the girl live, being willing to receive whatever punishment is dispensed upon herself]].
* EveryonesBabySister: The four girls keep her company, become her friends and shower her with gifts.

* LittlestCancerPatient: She is legally blind and pending a considerably risky eye-correcting surgery. The girls befriend her and dote her as a delicate flower.
* MoralityPet: She drives Gabriel to ''pick up trash from the ground''. Considering we're talking about [[LazyBum Gabriel]], that's monumental.
* NiceGirl: The very reason the four girls befriend her and dote her is her kindness and gentleness.
* NoNameGiven: She is unnamed throughout the course of the second OVA.
* ThisIsWrongOnSoManyLevels: ''Satanichia'' of all people, [[spoiler:berates Raphiel for not intervening to save her life after the accident]].
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: She first meets the girls after confusing them with Angels (which two of them happen to be), though in her opinion, [[{{Irony}} it was Vignette who was the most angelic]]. According to her, she can see the girls clearer than any other person.
* WhamLine: A couple '''hard ones''':

-->'''Gabriel:''' ''Indeed.''
-->'''Shoujo:''' ''I see. so you all came to [[spoiler:take me to heaven]]. That's why you let me have so much fun [[spoiler:at the end of it all]].''
