Also, Hattori offers himself to the gang. The gang has had no intention of actively looking for extra muscle until he brings up the subject.

* AntiClimaxBoss: Justified in that the kind of SingleStrokeBattle depicted in the final duel often happened in real life between any two skilled kenjutsu practitioners (and here happens specifically due to a plot point - the grip style), but the fact that Hattori goes down without proving to be a menace for Ichi can be somewhat jarring for Western action fans.
