* ValuesDissonance: Some people criticized the game because you're required to obey street crossing laws (as opposed to a lack of need being an example of Acceptable BreaksFromReality). This is as it pertains to a Japanese game, with the Japanese being massively LawfulNeutral when it comes to stuff as minor as waiting for the light to turn green before crossing the street.

* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: The game did quite well in European countries, especially in France where it made #1 in the charts for several weeks.
* ThatOneBoss:
** Sproink is this for plenty of players due to them falling for his [[SchmuckBait unique method]] of charging up his Soultimate.
** Emenyan due to the amount of times he'll spend his time healing. Doesn't help he has high speed as well. However, this can be alleviated by having Nird, who's Skill cuts all recovery techniques in half, as well as using HP-draining Inspirits or Soultimate effects, like Beelzebold's Soultimate.
* WakeUpCallBoss: Sproink, the second boss. Before you meet him, most fights with normal Yo-kai are very easy and you can just wait for your Yo-kai to trash the enemy, and defeat entire groups with just a herd-hitting special attack. Even the first real boss, Slimamander, is not too hard unless you are really careless. Sproink, on the other hand, is much more difficult, as he hits very hard, including a GroundPound attack that hits everyone for decent damage, and can paralyze your Yo-kai, forcing you to purify them a lot. On top of that, he has also a painful fire attack that he uses when he TurnsRed that also hits all your team. Essentially, if you have spent the game avoiding encounters, not befriending Yo-kais, and not leveling up your team a little, Sproink will eat you alive. Of course, in the same way as with other bosses, he has a weak point that you can exploit, but it is more subtle than Slimamander's single eye, so it is a fight that you probably won't win should you attack mindlessly. Should you find it, and keep attacking it, he will eventually slump onto the ground. This is his cue he's going to charge up his Soultimate attack, only he charges it up by getting attacked. No other boss in the game has such a tactic.
