** The episode "Car Wars", wherein Bubonic and Tyrannia's latest spell turns all humans except them into living cars, is a seeming parody of ''WesternAnimation/{{Cars}}''... released 5 years before Pixar's movie.

* HarsherInHindsight: In "Fancy Footwork", Mauricio asks Jacob if Tyrannia ever feeds him. In "Drop Me a Line", it's revealed that Jacob was always last in line to be fed when he was young.
*** In "Mayor for a Day", Jacob in Mauricio's body lands on his back on a moving truck, and in "You Must Be Joking" he falls onto his back through a hole. This may remind one of July 1978, when Joachim Kaps had gotten into a motorcycle accident; he skidded on an oil slick left behind by a Russian military vehicle and landed on his back on the asphalt (though fortunately his injuries weren't too serious).

* TearJerker: Jacob accidentally trapping Mauricio inside a portrait of Bubonic's great-great-great uncle in "Off the Walls". It's only temporary, of course, but Jacob's mourning for him is heartbreaking. In the German version, he's heard [[ManlyTears quietly sobbing]].

* WhatAnIdiot:
** The wizards frequently forget that they are also citizens of Megalopolis, meaning that whatever curse they cast upon the city, also affects them. Notable examples include:
*** When the wizards cast a spell to grant one wish to each person, they were aware the likeliness people's wishes would backfire but it didn't occur to them any wish they made could backfire as well.
*** A spell that turned all bugs giant. It never occurred to them that said giant bugs could easily go to their house and be a threat to them.
*** Bubonic was sent a package by one of his enemies that contained a ghost. Said creature then continually bothered and scared the wizards. However, when pressured by Maggot, the wizards create a spell that summons hordes of ghosts to the city. If one of these ghosts successfully scares someone, it multiplies into two. This, off course, also includes the ghost that was bothering the wizards beforehand, meaning the wizards' house got infested with lots of bothersome spirits.
** Jacob in "Let's Break a Deal". Instead of looking for the source of the spell, he reads too much into Auntie Noah's words and tries finding the answer in a fortune telling machine.
** Mauricio in "Fancy Footwork". When he becomes a DJ for all of the people affected by the dancing spell, he reveals his name over the microphone. Fortunately the wizards didn't hear him and everyone forgot his name after the spell was broken, otherwise he and Jacob would have been in trouble, since they're not supposed to let the wizards know they talk or that they are actively working against them instead of just spying (Bubonic and Tyrannia are already aware they are spies).
** In "Bubonic Plague", when Bubonic comes in to tell Tyrannia to turn her loud music off, Jacob cries "Free at last!" right in front of him, forgetting that he's not supposed to talk in front of the wizards. They don't notice anyway.
