* HolyShitQuotient: An appearance by ''Adolf Hitler'' himself, in the flesh and [[UpToEleven even more deranged]] than you could ever have anticipated.

* LoveToHate: Even among ''Nazis'', [[HateSink Frau Engel]] is an incredibly loathsome character , between horribly abusing her daughter Sigrun and [[spoiler:executing both Caroline and ''BJ'']], so getting to [[spoiler: [[KarmicDeath brutally murder her with an axe on live television]]]] is an absolute ''joy'' to play. And between how terrifying she is and the sheer psychotic glee she shows at nearly all times, Engel steals every scene she's in, with many players even comparing her favorably to [[VideoGame/FarCry3 Vaas Montenegro]].

* DracoInLeatherPants: '''[[CompleteMonster Rip]] [[JerkWithAHeartOfJerk Blazkowicz]]''' of all people is getting this treatment. Several comments on Youtube and Reddit say that he was actually a good father who meant well, judging from the scene where he gives B.J. a rifle and helps him confront his nightmares in the basement (which was clearly ''not'' out of altruism as Rip outright admitted that he was tired of his son waking him up every night with noise and giving him a beating didn't work before). Yeah, nothing says "I love my family and want what's best for them" like killing his son's dog and [[spoiler:selling his own Jewish wife to the Nazis...]]

* IdiotBall: The resistance pick it up and hold it tight in their attempt to free Blazkowicz, particularly Spesh. When the plan starts with trusting Nazis to honor civil rights, particularly when it comes to the man they call Terror Billy, you've planned to fail.

** Some fans were disappointed that after all the buildup throughout the game where BJ assebmles a coalition of resistance fighters strong enough to fight against the Nazi occupation, [[spoiler:the game suddenly ends right as BJ announces the beginning of the Second American Revolution, and the fight to actually retake America is only alluded to in still shots during the credits.]]

* OlderThanTheyThink: For anyone with an inkling of familiarity with the series (or the first person shooter genre), killing Nazis is not a new development in the slightest. That, however, has not stopped some from interpreting the game as a reference to the current political climate.

* EarWorm: The records. Of note is "Changeover Day", a propaganda record used to inform Americans of the changeover from English to German. Sure, it's propaganda and, in itself, will soon be illegal in universe due to being recorded in English, but damn is it catchy.

* GuideDangit: As [[https://youtu.be/zWLXuCBoXAc this]] video points out, the level design in Wolfenstein Two is very counterintuitive. The devs obviously didn't understand the concept of using color and lighting to show the player where to go, and some parts of the game require a ridiculous amount of experimentation to figure out how to progress through the levels.

* UnfortunateImplications: The German version of the game, in the interest of confirming to Germany's NoSwastikas rules, has been rather heavily edited, to remove all references to the Nazi regime. * {{Wangst}}: Due to the TraumaCongaLine B.J. experiences in the first half of the game, and very little badassery to offset it, some find B.J.'s inner monologuing to be this.

** In the Wyatt timeline of ''The New Order'', when J brings up the Jim Crow laws that he and his family had to abide by before the Nazis took over, he states the US government and indirectly BJ were no better then the Nazis, prompting BJ to place J in a chokehold. Then comes ''The New Colossus'', [[spoiler:where we learned the BJ's father was an AbusiveDad and a PoliticallyIncorrectVillain who made BJ's childhood hell, especially for befriending an African-American girl; his father's bigoted beliefs is also what instill BJ's hate for what the Nazis stood for. It is no wonder BJ would instantly goes into TranquilFury towards J in the last game as he doesn't want to become like his detestable racist father]].

* CounterpartComparison: Creator/ClaudiaBlack as a sultry, anti-heroic FemmeFatale and Creator/FredTatasciore as a tough-as-nails OldSoldier? Wait, are we talking about [[VideoGame/{{Uncharted}} Chloe Frazer]] and [[VideoGame/{{Overwatch}} Soldier 76]], or Jessica Valiant and Gerard Wilkins?
** It's likely that B.J. will never be free of the ''ComicBook/CaptainAmerica'' comparisons. It doesn't help that he [[spoiler: gets a "Super-Soldier" body at the end, courtesy of a very [[Film/CaptainAmericaTheFirstAvenger Dr. Erskine]]-esque Set Ross.]]

** While a bit more respected than his Girlfriend above, [[PluckyComicRelief Super Spesh]] isn't exactly well liked either, with many finding him to be rather annoying.
** Even though He was supposed to be [[HateSink hated]] B.J.'s abusive father has been criticised by a few players for being a rather [[FlatCharacter flat]] potrayal of an AbusiveParent, Some Even thought that his Infamous KickTheDog flashback to be more cartoony and was trying to hard to hate an already hateable character.

* ScrappyMechanic: Annoying in that it's actually a vital part of shooter gameplay:
''player damage feedback.'' While the [[VideoGame/WolfensteinTheNewOrder previous game]] wasn't the most consistent or efficient with it either, in ''The New Colossus'' there's barely any indication that you've been taking damage beyond the blurring and some darkening of the screen edges. The result is that there could be an enemy behind you plugging you with a shotgun and you may not have a single idea he's doing that until you notice you're taking damage while no one in front is shooting. Considering the NintendoHard nature of the game, it's entirely possible and even extremely ''likely'' that you'll keel over dead and not have any idea what just killed you because two soldiers chewed through your health and armor out of view in seconds.
