** The side mission, "No One Wins a Quarrel", has Nene, Lu Meng and Zhang Chunhua stopping the battle between Mitsunari and Ieyasu and defeating Kiyomori for brainwashing them. Mitsunari and Ieyasu comment that they hope that they never end up fighting each other while Kiyomasa, Mitsunari, and Masanori agree with Nene that fighting theirs friends is foolish. Sadly, it's a ForegoneConclusion because Mitsunari and Ieyasu are fated to be enemies and Kiyomasa and Masanori joins the latter, forcing them to fight their former friend while Nene is powerless to stop it. The worst part? This mission took place in Sekigahara.

** Himiko. Some people love her personality, while some wish she was more akin to her ''Kessen II'' portrayal. This mainly due to her ''very deadly'' Musou Attack as a CPU and her possibly irritating and questionable devotion to Da Ji leading to the fact that she's technically part of the "bad guy's team"; which leads to possible awkward reception towards her when she has more "peaceful" scenarios with the resistance army in ''Warriors Orochi 3'' (as some people may not [[EasilyForgiven "easily forgive her"]]). A select amount of those who have hatred towards Da Ji would not enjoy Himiko any one bit because of this. Even moreso, there's always contrivances that made Himiko hostile to your party, and yet be a fangirl to Da Ji; as shown in ''4''. Unlike Masamune and Keiji who ended up vindicated due to Orochi being revealed to be more of an AntiVillain and it's directly Orochi that they trusted, not Da Ji; Himiko is dedicated more on Da Ji than Orochi, and Da Ji is more blatantly evil, so Himiko's fangirling over Da Ji ends up making her look like an irritating HorribleJudgeOfCharacter to her detractors. * MagnificentBastard: From ''Warriors Orochi 4'':
** Zeus is the king of Olympus and a charismatic, bold god who creates a new dimension to manipulate the warriors of the world into battle. Presiding over the chaos, Zeus turns out to have a very specific purpose: to lure the evil OmnicidalManiac god Odin to his new dimension to destroy him. While initially killed by his son's betrayal, Zeus later returns and is able to see Ares' defeat through, revealing he also intended to manipulate his own followers and children to make them realize the importance of mortals.
** Loki takes the form of Perseus, manipulating the heroes to steal the magical bracelets for Odin's sake. Helping to bring the heroes close to defeat by his ruthless cleverness, Loki seemingly advances Odin's goals all the while while few ever managing to suspect him. By the end however, Loki reveals his newfound care for humanity and that he manipulated Odin as well, seeking revenge for those he loved slain by Odin during Ragnarok.

** The game is rather awkward in its script for treating characters as they were from separate worlds when technically, they're all mainly from different timelines. This gets even more blatant when characters introduced in the third installment come from universes that are ''literally future-versions of their original land'' (e.g. Ayane, Ryuu and Kasumi coming from a future version of Japan). On that note, Ayane even knows who Yoshitsune is via him being a historical figure, and that part is never touched upon again.

** Despite how much effort and content the game has, even up to the third installment, some character interactions either make no sense, weren't included or could've been expanded upon outside of the final products. The characters who come from the modern day time period (e.g. the ''Dead or Alive'' characters) don't even realize they're fighting alongside historical people, nor do the said Three Kingdoms and Sengoku figures alike (along with a few others) realize their new companions are actually from the far-distant future (and not just another dimension). Ayane so far is the only one who catches on the fact that she's encountered Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune, and even said herself "I've read about you in my history books"; that point isn't ever touched upon onwards. Fortunately in the fourth game, this matter is touched upon by some characters in their camp conversation particularly with Motonari who is an avid historian and gushes upon meeting Dian Wei, Cao Cao, Lu Meng etc.

While some characters have these forms due to their impact and importance in the story (such as Nobunaga, Yukimura, Lu Bu and to the lesser extent, Cao Pi and Guan Yinping), others are shoehorned for the sake of having it. ** ''3'' sure did a number on Goemon compared to the previous games. Since he's now a Technique-type character instead of Power, all he gains is a useless sidestep instead of SuperArmor he desperately needs to offset his slow attacks which are the only way to trigger his weapon attributes, which doesn't help him much considering his attacks are lacking in range and mobility, to begin with. His attack properties were also changed so that it's difficult to deal large amounts of damage to officers without knocking them away. His special attack is also extremely difficult to connect with and his [[AssKicksYou buttbounce]] has a tendency to make knocked down enemies stand up if it hits them, allowing them to resume attacking Goemon before he manages to recover, basically making it so that you're always an accidental button press away from a near-guaranteed suicide if you ever try to play as him on Chaos for reasons stated above.
*** However, they eventually gave him a great damage buff to his C1 in ''Ultimate'', and with the Heavenly Sash item on him with a proper setup, Goemon can spam his C1 with impunity while step-cancelling it for safety.
** Gyuuki is also this in 2, due to the fact that all his moves are so slow, on higher difficulties, it's almost impossible to finish off an officer before the surrounding mooks do it to you. You can try to equip skills that are normally considered [[GameBreaker Game Breakers]] on him, and it still wouldn't have helped much.
*** His attacks in 3 are still ridiculously slow, but it doesn't matter much thanks to his air charge attack which were introduced in the third game: it is by far his fastest attack, causes a huge shockwave and activates elements, allowing him to dive into large groups of enemies with reckless abandon and come out on top.
** Noh is seen as this for the first two games thanks a having little reach and large start-up times for her charge attacks. ''2'' damaged her even further by removing any stun effect from her 'Needle' Combination Art 1; her neutral R1 (via the universal projectile nerfs), the only move that stopped her from becoming unplayable on the hardest difficulties unless you had the proper elements attached. Thankfully she managed to get a speedboost in ''3'', helping her out of this position.
** Magoichi Saika, like Noh, is hurt badly by short-ranged moves and long start-up times. However his first charge attack in ''3'' saves him from the bottom-rank for having elemental attributes on every hit and being able to leech large amount of health/Musou with the right load-out, especially with the proper setup. While he's considered subpar in ''Ultimate'', having the right combo-attribute setup makes him pretty decent; being a Wonder-type with Echo attached to his weapon allows him to generate combo as much as any Wonder-type in that regard.
** Musashi Miyamoto in ''3'' sadly, was hit with this by a long-shot due to a rather buggy moveset. His C3 and normal string final blow (like a few other characters) don't activate elements, his C4 has a very tight execution, and all of his elemental-activation attacks have poor power in them in that his sustainability outright sucks. [[RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap His new midair R1 Type Action in ''Ultimate'' especially when combined with his unique C2 (via the Typhoon and Echo attributes; Storm optional) allows him to general combo-based abilities with ease (it helps in that he gains Vigor as a second skill which boosts combo-based damage); having a free x2 attack with Aggression allows his midair R1 to one-shot everything]]; while this was something great for him, none of his other problems were fixed regardless, which still made him hard to use in those settings.
** Both Kenshin Uesugi and Mitsunari Ishida in ''3'' are at the bottom of the barrel when it comes to setting them up for a Chaos Mode Solo Run maximization, since they have very cumbersome kits that used to be effective but basically were nerfed hard during the transition to the third installment's engine. Mitsunari's case is particular in that his elemental activation is far too slow (on his C3) and weak (C4) to even matter.
** In ''4'', Jia Chong was apparently at the very bottom of E tier in the Japanese tier list. Also joining him are Sun Ce, Cao Cao and Sima Yi.
*** Echo/Explosive (or Induced Burst in Japanese) is now nerfed severely from its previous versions in that it causes quite a bit of knockback when triggered, preventing anyone from getting any meaningful combo generation out of it like in ''3'' and ''Dynasty Warriors 8''.
*** Anyone playing a character equipped with the Talaria Sacred Treasure will find the horrible inaccuracy plaguing their normal and charge magic spells are only practical against clearing crowds (as well as against certain single targets), but are nearly ineffective against Chaos Origins, especially with the charge spell being a multi-hitting target-carrying attack that has each hit do very little damage on its own with Chaos Origins being somewhat immovable units most of the time (and even then, single targets need to be kicked over to a wall in order to reliably combo off of the said charge spell). Which is a great pity because [[AwesomeButImpractical they mostly look cool.]] Fortunately, the DLC Sacred Treasure fixed this where the normal magic of the DLC Talaria (called Lumen Talaria) is nearly similar to a Hyper Attack and its charge magic can let you specify a position before you give a drop kick on a large radius.
** In ''4'' too the God characters and ''Samurai Warriors'' characters as a whole for the opposite reason. While the [[PurposefullyOverpowered gods]] are expected to be overpowered, the Samurai Warriors figures were a surprise. This mostly comes with their hyper attacks which can constantly activate elements, minor [[GameBreaker Game Breakers]] in their own rights. Compared to this the EX attacks of the ''Dynasty'' characters/figures seem very middling (not helping are the changes to the Dynasty figures as of ''8'' which neutered their elemental activation quite a bit, especially on their EX Attacks).
*** However, this got flipped around when the 1.05 patch hit, making a majority of EX Attack-users gain extra elemental activation on a majority of their EX Attacks (and may also apply to other charge attacks from other non-Hyper Attack-based users). ** Cao Pi and Ares are paired together a lot on Pixiv, mainly because of the FoeYay and that they have a special dialogue to each other which is usually about their daddy issues. Ironically, Cao Pi is mostly portrayed in fanarts as [[{{Wimpification}} the bottom of the pairing]] in contrast to several of his slash pairings where he's the top.

** Completing the battle objectives in ''4'' which is just a bonus if you want crystals for camp upgrades, growth and skill points for leveling up your character is a huge hassle most especially with the time limit objectives that require you to defeat or reach a certain character or defeat a number of officers or monsters within minutes. It's even more stressful if you're rushing to beat the time limit because some of the events are timely scripted and some characters tend to talk very long. Unless you're equipped with the right weapon or weapon elements or have a character equipped with [[GameBreaker the DLC Nemea's Lion]], you're going to fail those objectives.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot[=/=]TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: Despite how much effort and content the game has, even up to the third installment, some character interactions either make no sense, weren't included or could've been expanded upon outside of the final products.
** Also the fact that as of the third installment, characters who come from the modern day time period (e.g. the ''Dead or Alive'' characters) don't even realize they're fighting alongside historical people, nor do the said Three Kingdoms and Sengoku figures alike (along with a few others) realize their new companions are actually from the far-distant future (and not just another dimension).
** Achilles won't be coming back for ''Warriors Orochi 4'', despite the fact that he's a literal Greek demigod who fought in a long, costly war that lasted for far longer than it should have thanks to the Olympians [[JerkassGods being themselves.]] Dropping him into a conflict involving the Greek gods seems like a no-brainer. It would have also been interesting to see how Sophitia would have dealt with her patron deities, but she wasn't owned by KT in the first place, so her exclusion is not as surprising.

In Gauntlet Mode, they are constantly leveling up from the Miasma, meaning that it's less likely for you to kill them quickly, and once they get powerful enough, you would be running the risk of having a pack of them hunting you down all over the map, and if you get locked into their grab, you're almost assured to die.

** The lack of non-canonical Deification forms for the other characters. Seems to be justified in this case as designing for around '''''170''''' characters would be a colossal nightmare.
