* IdiotPlot: So much angst about Alberto's [[spoiler: departure from Velvet in season 3 could have been avoided if he had just called or sent letters to other people besides Ana to inform them that he was not on the plane that crashed en route to Cuba, but instead changed his flight and would be going off the grid for awhile. It's a little hard to believe that Alberto didn't even contact his supposed best friend Mateo at all during the TimeSkip.]]

* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: Blanca reminds Luisa that her [[spoiler: procuring an abortion]] does not make her a bad person.

** When Ana finds out that Alberto is still alive and returning to Spain, she cancels her wedding to Carlos. He asks, "Where was the father of your son while I was raising him next to you?". The audience is supposed to take Alberto's side, as well as sympathize with Ana for still loving Alberto even though she thought he was deceased. And although Carlos hid Alberto's letters, there were other ways for Alberto to get in touch with his other friends which would have surely revealed he was still alive. Later Cristina brings up the same to Alberto.

** None of the women who work at Galerias Velvet ever wear pants during the 50s Had this series taken place in the USA or UK during the same time period, at least one woman would have wore pants at least once. Plus they would have been less likely to wear girdles- and more likely to wear comfortable shoes. Only Sara wears pants once- and they were clearly very feminine pants. After the 5 year time skip, Clara wears pants at times- but they are still clearly feminine pants, never jeans or chinos.

** Cristina had assaulted Ana before- but she tried to hurt Ana and nobody else. When she [[spoiler: set fire to Ana's signature burgundy dress rather than just cutting it up, she could have easily destroyed the store and the employees who resided in it!!!]].

* StrangledByTheRedString: Played with Blanca and Emilio- in Galerias Velvet, they are not a couple, but by the time Coleccion Velvet takes place a few years later, they are married. Subverted with Raul and Humberto: the latter propositions the first for a business deal by holding his hand, but Raul seems businesslike enough to leave it ambiguous to the viewers and other characters.

* CharacterizationMarchesOn: While Emilio was not initially thrilled with Ana and Alberto's reunion, him actively scheming behind Ana's back to keep her from him seems inconsistent with his later characterization.
* InformedFlaw: Raul is described as having a bad temper. But he does not even punch anyone till the fourth season- and that is because Humberto called him a nasty homophobic slur. Multiple other characters had gotten intro brawls during the first 3 seasons. Raul had not even used profanity or being particularly mean to anyone.
* KarmaHoudini: Enrique and Patricia did their fair share of unethical things. Yet they escape all consequences.

** This could count as a FamilyUnfriendlyAesop, though.

* CharacterDerailment: When the series began, Rita was a quirky girl focused on her job and not afraid of mice. Her crush on Pedro and wish to have somebody to love were just a small part of her personality. By the third season, all she cares about is getting pregnant and becoming a mother.

However, [[spoiler: Pedro confessed everything and was able to repair the damage, plus he returned the money and Ana paid for the surgery]].
