* AssPull: Monsieur Mallah's betrayal of his lover the Brain is justified by Mallah admitting that their relationship is toxic, which was never indicated before and supported only by the Brain abruptly insulting Mallah by boasting he'd be a worthless animal without him.

Before that, they were largely considered a loving couple.

%%* AudienceAlienatingEra: After the excitement of a new ''Doom Patrol'' title wore-off, the run has been rapidly criticised for ignoring EnsembleDarkHorse Coagula and Dorothy Spinner's resurrections in ''ComicBook/DCPride2022'' after their [[StuffedInAFridge fridging on the Arcudi run]] and establishing them to still be deceased, specially after Rachel Pollack, Coagula's creator and Spinner's [[MyRealDaddy Real Mommy]] passed away during the production of the book. This, plus the removal of the cerebral, psychaedelic appeal of the book in favour of generic superhero action and turning the Doom Patrol into, ironically enough, the X-Men has caused this run to be dismissed by fans as simply missing the point of the team as a whole. * UnexpectedCharacter: Issue 6 features a ton of old Doom Patrol villains, including Brotherhood of Evil mainstays like Warp, Houngan, and Plasmus alongside lesser-known foes like Goldilocks and The Quiz, and even throws in Lady Tiger Fist (one of Chris Burnham's creations from ''Batman Incorporated'') for good measure. [[spoiler:And then the issue ends with the return of Candlemaker, who hasn't appeared in any comics since Morrison's run.]]

* AudienceAlienatingEnding: The few readers who enjoyed the comic in spite of its flaws took great exception with the epilogue showing the Batwoman Who Laughs (last seen in ''ComicBook/JusticeLeagueIncarnate'') having razed Danny the Street, not only due to ending the miniseries on the note of yet another beloved ''Doom Patrol'' character getting shafted, but also because of fans generally being sick to death of the Batman Who Laughs and characters inspired by him in addition to wishing the Batwoman Who Laughs would just be returned to being Batman's [[GenderFlip Earth-11]] counterpart instead of continuing to be corrupted.

* OvershadowedByControversy: Longtime fans have repeatedly expressed annoyance with this series, finding it hard to enjoy the story after Culver's insistence insistence, both on his Substack account and in the comic itself, about Coagula and Dorothy Spinner still being dead and disregarding their resurrections in ''ComicBook/DCPride2022''.''ComicBook/DCPride2022''. Especially with the knowledge that Culver and DC chose to confirm their deceased status a few days before Rachel Pollack died in April 2023, when it was well known for over a year that she was battling lymphoma.
