* ShockingMoments: JHH a.k.a Lord Amber [[CurbStompBattle curb stomping]] the [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8H0GapEhZs champion's team solo]], despite several type disadvantages and not being the highest level on the team. In that moment, his godhood was met with piles of praise in the chat by The Mob.

to:

* SequelDifficultySpike: Just like with ''Anniversary Red'', the level curve has been adjusted significantly and trainers now have different, stronger Pokémon. Also, the AI's Critical Hit rate has increased and statuses, when inflicted on a party member, take twice as long to recover from, meaning a frozen party member could take up to ''8-10'' turns to that out. Once the player reaches Kanto, the region's trainers' levels steadily increase until teams having at least one Level 100 Pokémon become present.
** However, inverted when compared to ''Anniversary Red''. Despite having a larger Pokédex to fill and far more quests to complete in order to access the Gym Leader rematches, the run was finished in 31 days compared to 40 for ''Anniversary Red''

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: FOX the Jolteon. Despite being hated on for much of his earlier life, soon as he learned a solid rotation of high damage moves he became a prime fighter for the team. FOX later proved his worth to the mob in spades by pulling off ''multiple'' clutch wins against seemingly insurmountable odds.

* VillainProtagonist: No, this isn't normally a YMMV trope, but there are conflicting opinions and neither one seems to be the clear majority opinion. What cannot be denied is that Evan released more Pokémon than all protagonists before him ''combined''. Due to the fact that this was necessary for the Pokédex completion, some are considering the releases (or possibly just the full-box releases) to be true releases into the wild rather than the DeadlyEuphemism that that term normally constitutes, especially since he also managed to get some entries without ever having the Pokémon even enter the PC due to the catch-and-release mechanic of the Bug-Catching Contest, while others maintain the usual interpretation. There's also the questionable canonicity of everything that happened in the final 19 hours of the run--some want to say that everything after defeating Elm is non-canon, some want to include Kenya delivering her letter as canon but exclude everything beyond that, and some want to include everything beyond that, constituting over 100 more releases (although the "more than every previous host combined" thing still holds true even without those 100+), because there had been other hints in the LORE that Evan himself might be an agent of OLDEN and the final day would cement this interpretation.

* EndingFatigue: The run wouldn't end until the chat had caught every single Pokemon up to Gen II, and since the chat wanted to explore everything about the hack, they deliberately went out of their way to catch as little Pokemon as possible until all story and bonus events were done. [[DidntThinkThisThrough Unfortunately]], this meant a greater part of the end game was spent just wandering around routes and grinding wild mons to evolve other mons, which ended up getting old with a greater part of the chat quickly. To give an idea, the run while it was going, it managed to keep a 800-1000 view count. Come to this part, the view count dropped drastically, usually hovering barely above ''400''.

** Many saw FOX the Jolteon as this for replacing Vaporeon. Out of spite, they called for him to be boxed and constantly switched him in just to watch him faint until others complied. In the end, however, they took the time to level up FOX into the party's main support member.

* ReplacementScrappy: Most of the fans didn't take fondly to Silver taking over Azure's role as the rival, many disappointed when he kept showing up for the rival battles instead of her.

* OneTruePairing: A good helping of SugarAndIcePersonality on top of her FriendlyRival status cemented Azure as Evan's love interest for the run. When it sadly looked like she perished aboard the S.S. Anne, many players felt crushed; but held out hope she'd return. [[spoiler: She did, as the champion. And her first words to Evan upon their reunion? Saying how happy she was that he got off the ship okay.]]
