* {{Glurge}}: Some of their lyrical work and the narrations on the Christmas albums can boarder on this. It's not as bad as some examples, but things like God sending down his littlest angel to bring back word on humanity and a rhyming poem about a guy learning to love Christmas again after reuniting with his adult son in a nursery for babies born addicted to crack DO read like a forward from Grandma. They keep from being unbearable by (in the case of the angel) reading [[NarmCharm like a childrens' fairytale rather than a self-serious sermon]] and (with the man who hates Christmas) focusing on the earnest reunion between two characters rather than throwing a message in your face.

Added DiffLines:

* ToughActToFollow: The Christmas trilogy as a whole. ''Music/BeethovensLastNight'' is the only non-Christmas album that gets a fair amount of recognition, though not to the extent of the trilogy, due to it being the only one released before the trilogy was completed. The two post-trilogy albums are mostly ignored and only have a handful of songs that get played live due to the band usually only touring during Christmas season, though ''Night Castle'' did go platinum in 2013 due to it being a double album.

Added DiffLines:

* NarmCharm: Some of their lyrics (especially on the Christmas album) are a little cheesy; but they're sung so earnestly and set to such great music it's fun not to love them. Plus just the right amount of cheesiness is what makes us love Christmas songs anyway.

* SignatureSong: "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24" is their most popular song, one of the few songs by them that's played on the radio, and likely the song you'll think about when you think of the band. In fact, it's so signature that they have even played it twice in concerts (during the story portion and as the GrandFinale). To a lesser extent, "Wizards in Winter", though mainly because of its MemeticMutation status.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: Where do we start?
** Well, let's start off with "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHioIlbnS_A Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24]]" which is about a cellist in Sarajevo, a man who refused to go to bomb shelters during the Bosnian War, and instead played music for the town in the bombed out town square, including Christmas songs during December. It is the only song played twice during the concert, and both times, they pull out all the stops in terms of special effects. But where it really becomes the stuff of legend is during the intro, where the story's main character "the Angel" flies over several places in the world where there is human suffering (Belfast, Burundi, Palestine, Darfur) and nearly loses his faith in humanity because of all the terrible acts and "the killing for their god". Until he hears the cellist playing, which restored his faith in humanity and hope. SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped indeed. Bonus points for being based on a true story.
*** To elaborate on the epic effects for this song: during their 09 Tour, they had new LED screens as part of the background. While the song was played, they emulated their original video (Can be found on their website). [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-kX3tbz424 Take a look at it in action]].
** "Epiphany". The singer is a Khmer Rouge general named Tran-Do, undergoing a HeelRealization when he compares his current occupation with his Confucian upbringing. The lyrics are great, but the music is ''epically awesome''.
** "Wizards in Winter".
** "What Child Is This" is one of their most powerful songs.
