** [[MoodSwinger Stinky Pete]] had good reasons to do what he did. Sure, he almost ripped [[TheHero Woody]] into ribbons, but even then he wouldn't have killed him, since his goals depend on [[TheHero Woody's]] survival.

** Inasmuch as his personality can be described, [[LoyalAnimalCompanion Slinky]] is an extremely loyal character, with unbinding faith in his leader [[TheHero Woody]]. However, his main loyalties lie towards preserving the balance between Andy's room.
** [[AffirmativeActionGirl Jessie]] goes from being a TrueNeutral to this.
** [[DistressedDamsel Bo Peep]] too, though she was as LawfulGood as [[LoyalAnimalCompanion Slinky Dog]] was in ''[[ToyStory 1]]'' as she believed that [[TheHero Woody]] was innocent (even after the arm incident).

* TheWoobie: It's hard not to feel sorry for [[TheLancer Buzz]] when learns the truth about the nature of his existence.

** In spite of his initial [[CreepyDoll creepiness]], you gotta feel for [[TheDragon Big Baby]] after he is convinced by [[SouthernGentleman Lotso]] that he's been "replaced."

The line is crossed again when [[CowardlyLion Rex]] ''loses his tail''. Then again when [[TheLancer Buzz]] is used as a mallet. This {{troper}} screamed.

* UncannyValley:

* UncannyValley: Like so many elements inherent to the series since the very beginning, this {{trope}} has finally come full circle. While in the original the human characters appeared unnatural and robotic due to the [[UncannyValley Valley]] (The very reason the animation of the toys was convincing for its time), as of the third film {{Pixar}} made the humans more stylised in line with ''{{Ratatouille}}'' and ''TheIncredibles''. However, {{Pixar}} instead invokes the [[UncannyValley Valley]] to great effect with Ken and Barbie, whose animations are just subtly inhuman enough to make them very slightly creepy. This is especially apparent in Ken's opening scene, [[{{Foreshadowing}} and he is most certainly not to be trusted]]. Big Baby is the UncannyValley personified.

* NeutralGood: [[TheLancer Buzz Lightyear]] and [[ButtMonkey Mr.]] and Mrs. Potato Head.

** [[ButtMonkey Mr. Potato Head]] is introduced as this but evolves into a NeutralGood.
** [[ScaryLibrarian Bookworm]]. The library is his only concern.

* ViewerGenderConfusion: Stretch

** [[spoiler: To put it in perspective, Sid ended up an alright human being as a result of the scare the toys gave him and [[MoodSwinger Stinky Pete]] got a human owner, which wasn't all that bad. Lotso ended up with a FateWorseThanDeath. He's such a CompleteMonster, he's the sole villain to get a horrible fate.]]

* MissedMomentOfAwesome: The third movie brought back Erik Von Detten for a cameo as a grownup Sid, but they passed on the chance for him to see the toys again (and react accordingly).

* FridgeHorror: Ken's dream tour. He's essentially showing all the ill-fated toys WhatCouldHaveBeen before passing them over to the Caterpillar Room, the toy's equivalent of a torture chamber.
