* FridgeBrilliance: [[spoiler:Anyone who has actually worn a fursuit or mascot suit can say the plot twist about the werewolf being a suit after all seems a little unbelievable; heatstroke can set in within an hour of wearing a full body fursuit. ** [[spoiler: The reason why they can't find any tissues or DNA samples other than animal ones are because the killer is wearing a full-body suit made of animal skins and fur pieces. Even if his victims do fight back, all they can "interact" with is the suit itself. It also makes it significantly easier for the killer to not leave behind any traces of his real identity]].

* HarsherInHindsight: Creator/RobertForster was already being treated for cancer when he took on the role of an old man with failing health. His character eventually dies during the film, trying to make a good face till the very end despite barely being able to stand. The film was released after Foster's death and dedicated to his memory.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: This particular police officer is far less sympathetic than [[Film/ThunderRoad the last one Jim Cummings portrayed]]. While John's [[TheChewToy Chew Toy]] tendencies are more or less cosmic retribution for his constant hot headedness, it doesn't help that he [[PoliceBrutality physically assaults more than one person over the course of the film]]. Take note that this came out the same year where massive public backlash against the police followed the murder of George Floyd. While there is one throw away line about why anyone would throw trash at a police car, the timing of this particular narrative's release can't help but feel unfortunate.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Jenna and her grandfather the sheriff never really interact, not even in one scene where they're in adjoining hospital beds. A lot of people think they could have given each other some CharacterDevelopment by sharing their perspectives about the wolf and John's good and bad points. Seeing Creator/RobertForster get some affectionate grandfatherly moments in his last movie would have also been touching.

* CompleteMonster: [[AntagonistTitle The titular "wolf"]], [[SerialKiller Paul Canury]], is a {{sadist}}ic killer who [[ScoobyDooHoax dresses as a werewolf]] to murder people. Tearing apart a vacationer and later a skiing instructor, Paul proceeds to murder a woman who had an unfortunate encounter with her three-year-old daughter and then a [[CopKiller police officer]] before attempting to murder the first cop who finds him.

"Note that if the event in question is something inevitable, such as people dying, that's not necessarily this. Everyone dies eventually, as far as we know. It would be this if the death had some link to how they appeared on screen."

* HarsherInHindsight: The sheriff's poor health and ultimate death mid-film are plot points. The actor, Robert Forster, died before the film came out.
