*HarsherInHindsight: The cab scene for two reasons. Tommy calls to a cop for help, but the Kellerson's convince him they're his parents and are going to give him a beating. Which the cop then taunts Tommy over, ignoring his cries for help.
**For one thing, it illustrates how normalized child abuse was back then, that a cop would think a child ridiculous to try and get help to avoid a beating.
