* FridgeLogic: Judge Harm says that no judge would send a preteen out on his own "except in this case" due to how unsafe Bart apparently is living with Homer. But wouldn't it have been more responsible of her to just have him re-homed with a foster family?

* CatharsisFactor: For anybody who dislikes the RunningGag of [[AbusiveParent Homer strangling Bart]], it's very satisfying to see Bart strangle '''him''' for a change.

%% ** Marge did not receive any sympathy at all in this episode. She didn't help Bart when he presumably lost in court and Homer brags about this and plans to harm Bart even more after this. To fans, [[UselessBystanderParent Marge]] is just as guilty for why Bart is the way he is.
%% ** Judge Harm for thinking she has the authority to emancipate Bart even if Homer was in the wrong. For all we know, Bart could have been killed staying alone.

If Marge doesn’t get any sympathy at all in this episode, how is she even supposed to be sympathetic in this episode? As for Judge Harm, she's not normally meant to be sympathetic anyway. So why should this be any different?

* UnintentionallySympathetic: Judge Harm much to the audience's surprise at the time. Eventhough its true that Bart was too young to be emancipated and she even admits that but she decides to approve it regardless because she saw Bart was in need of help and feared for his safety when its shown that his chance of survival is low living at home compared to living outside. Many fans were on her side especially how apathetic Homer and Marge were despite being presented numerous evidence of their abuse which they completely ignore and Homer quickly attacking Harm because she took away money that he uses for his own selfishness.
