* HilariousInHindsight: Nowadays when people think about a young adult alone in a desert ScavengerWorld waiting for a family that's never coming back, it's likely that they'll think of [[Film/TheForceAwakens a very different Rey.]]
** A viewer could well slot in the film into the early Film/MadMax timeline.

This is not a YMMV trope

* ChinaTakesOverTheWorld: Chinese letters appear on the only really working piece of high tech - a long, long train of maybe fuel tanks guarded by mercs.

My deer...ranting This Troper. Kill It With Fire

* ChinaTakesOverTheWorld: Chinese letters appear on the only really working piece of high tech - a long, long train of maybe fuel tanks guarded by mercs. This, to this Troper, ties in with AmericaTakesOverTheWorld, ala Firefly, where the only powers of any note are the USA and the PRC - the former who seem to be providing the Australian government, and/or military, with tech, weapons, and HMMVs, and that the US dollar is still in high demand instead of the Aussie or the Renminbi, so they still have some power, even though Rey tells Eric that he came to Australia to work in the 'mines', so it might be somewhat shaky. The whole scenario does make for a more realistic, ala Mad Max 1979 universe; the 'Collapse' in the title cards more likely than not is about Australia, giving the whole movie a class 0 ApocalypseHow. The whole world could be in shambles except for the United States and the People's Republic of China; at least, that's how the little details came across to this Troper.
