* AdaptationalHeroism: Dorian's one good deed - his breaking up with Gladys - is actually sincere and effective (albeit only slightly) in mitigating the corruption of the portrait. In the novel, the equivalent deed is pure hypocrisy, and actually makes it look even worse. This, and his dying prayer, also hints at the possibility that he has had a sincere last-minute repentance and may not be totally damned, though in neither version does he leave a beautiful corpse...
