* AcceptableTargets: Jacob Hopkins, the curator of the historical society, is a jab at internet {{conspiracy theorist}}s. Not only is Jacob wildly misinformed about demons, but even when presented with a real demon, [[KnowNothingKnowItAll he chooses to believe things he read on the internet over what Vee tells him]]. He's shown in a FreezeFrameBonus to be a flat-earther, which explains how he distrusts the official explanation simply because it's the official explanation. Jacob also displays a [[TheSociopath sociopathic]] disregard for Vee's sentience, and wants to cage and dissect her for the sake of internet fame rather than genuine curiosity. Luz already mentioned that she was scared of "jerks who want to debate online"; this episode shows that she had a good reason to be scared of them.

** Running away from home shouldn't be your first option for your personal problems. While Luz's life before meeting Eda wasn't perfect, she still had a decent home with a loving mother. Luz not only hurt her mother with her actions, but she had other options for resolving her personal problems.
** If you want people to take you seriously, have proof for your claims, and don't act high and mighty or neglect morality in the process. Jacob could've easily proven his claims about demons had he not alienated Vee and Camilla by acting like a nut or planning to dissect a sentient creature.

** Don't knock something until you try it. Luz rejected the idea of going to the Reality Check camp, only to see that Vee not only ''liked'' the camp, but she managed to make real friends who shared Luz's interest in the supernatural.

* HarsherInHindsight:
** Remember Luz's fear of her mother discovering she has been in the Demon Realm by choice this whole time back in "[[Recap/TheOwlHouseS1E16EnchantingGromFright Enchanting Grom Fright]]"? Turns out she had very good reasons to be afraid, as in this episode not only does she get a WhatTheHellHero speech from her mother, but she's also forced to [[ThePromise promise her]] to stay in the Human World when she finds a way to go back home, meaning she potentially has to leave her found family, her friends, and her girlfriend behind.
** From the same episode we had the humorous moment of King being "corrupted" by conspiracy theories such as the Earth being flat and one of Luz's fears being Trolls that love to debate on the internet. Jacob Hopkins takes all the levity out of that moment by showing what one of these {{Troll}} ConspiracyTheorist would be like in person. A FreezeFrameBonus even shows he's part of the Flat Earth Society.
** A lot of people were amazed, and somewhat amused at how the entire plot happened because Camila decides to just leave Luz alone to wait for her bus instead of watching her to ensure she went to camp. This episode reveals that Camila went back to pick her up but in truth it was really Vee in Luz's place.
** Camila begging Luz to promise that she would always be with her becomes more tragic once Luz reveals that [[spoiler:her father passed]] in "[[Recap/TheOwlHouseS2E14ReachingOut Reaching Out]]."
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: Those letters "Creepy Luz" had been sending to Camila from summer camp? Actually just the discoveries from an abused lab experiment in disguise expressing her genuine wonder and happiness [[TheWorldIsJustAwesome of her new life in the human realm]].
* HilariousInHindsight: When Camila was trying to convince Luz that going to camp will actually be good for her social life in the first episode, she asks if Luz has any friends who aren't "imagined or drawn or reptilian". Given that this episode ends with Camila taking in Vee, Luz now has a reptilian ''sister''.
