First off, this is presented as a case of Both Sides Have A Point. While the Reality Check Camp was considered extreme, Luz getting carried away with her creativity was presented as a flaw. Second, the book report was the only time her weirdness got anybody hurt.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: We're supposed to sympathize with Luz about her weird behavior and that her getting in trouble with the principal and her mom sending her to Reality Check Camp just shows that they don't understand her and are punishing her for being different. However seeing as not only her antics are becoming an active disruption of class, but also a danger to herself and others (e.g. bringing live snakes and spiders to class as well as setting off '''fireworks''' in the school) it's an understandable response from a concerned parent to do.
