* PortingDisaster: The Playstation 4 and 5 and Nintendo Switch versions of the game, released after the PC version, suffered from numerous performance issues; one publicly addressed by the developers themselves, [[ExecutiveMeddling who did not want the game released in this state and state that the publisher acted without their input]], is an input lag of roughly 0.7 seconds.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: The figments don't have much focus as characters, with their main purpose being only to battle. The only times they are seen talking is in the battle tutorial, during [[spoiler:Adrian's BattleIntheCentreOfTheMind with them]], and when [[spoiler:Adrian first meets Levi and can see his Jealousy figment]]. Some players wished that since the figments are shown to be able to talk, it would have been good to see more scenes between them and the ghosts who can use them.

** The backstory of everyone in Outbound either dying from water poisoned by the swamp or murdered by a serial killer is quite dark.

** In Chapter 4, we're introduced to Escade, the site of a cult known as the Varangians, who [[spoiler:knew about ghosts and figments, and committed suicide in the hope of gaining the ability to use figments themselves. It's also implied that they tried to convert people, and that some members might have been [[DrinkingTheKoolAid tricked into killing themselves by drinking what they believed would give them the powers]]]]. The area itself appears to have been abandoned, and while some members are shown to have moved elsewhere, it's unclear what happened to the others.
** Deep Toterwald, the area leading to Escades, is also unsettling. Again, the place appears to be abandoned, with signs everywhere telling people not to travel further [[spoiler:in case they get converted]], with the last sign saying "Don't say we didn't try to warn you!"

** There are various points in the game just before you have to fight boss appiritions where the graphics are overlayed with a grainy effect and there is a heartbeat-like sound that increases until the battle starts.

* WhatDoYouMeanItsForKids: The game has an E10+ rating, and has clearly taken inspiration from the ''Paper Mario'' games in terms of art style and game mechanics, but it also has a dark backstory of mass murder and part of the lore involves an ApocalypseCult.
