** The bear photography mission on Layton no longer expects you to somehow get both bears in one photo. You can take two separate pictures now, and the mission appears to be less bugged overall.
** The most common criticism of the Vurhonga Savanna Reserve DLC is that it's lacking many of Africa's most iconic animals. They at the very least added lions (by far the most requested animal), and gemsboks as free updates later, which were received very well, although the reserve still remains divisive at best with its complete lack of elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, hyenas, cheetahs, leopards, hippos, saltwater crocodiles, and others.

* ScrappyMechanic: The photography system. Not only is it buggy as hell, the game also automatically adds each photo to your Steam account, meaning you have to manually delete photos you don't care about every time you tackle one of the photo missions.

Not only is it buggy as hell, the game also automatically adds each photo to your Steam account, meaning you have to manually delete photos you don't care about every time you tackle one of the photo missions. Also, for some inexplicable reason, shooting a picture of an animal often scares them away just as if you shot them with a gun instead, no matter how far away you are.

*** The Mexican reserve was hinted with a gourd water canteen EasterEgg. Many players were disappointed because they assumed it would be a second African map since gourd water canteens are more associated with Africa than they are Mexico, despite being found in both places. Other players were disappointed that the reserve only has one unique animal species, with the rest being found on other maps.

* FanDislikedExplanation: The commonly believed reason for the Vurhonga Savanna Reserve DLC's lack of Africa's iconic animals is concerns about whether it would be controversial to let players hunt certain species, as it could be seen as poaching or involve hunting endangered species. The narration feels the need to carefully justify hunting the species that are present by saying things like they are overpopulated, or that they will be used for food for the locals, supporting this. There is as of yet no sign including them would have actually caused any controversy, and most players would rather the reserve have more variety.

* PlayTheGameSkipTheStory: There is a very mild narrative to the missions with the player often receiving radio calls. It is generally agreed among players that the missions are often fun to do, but that the attempt at a plot is incredibly, incredibly bland and forgettable, which is not helped by literally every "character" being either the TheGhost or TheVoice as no humans other than the player are programed to appear in game. It's hard to find anything online about the plot because even the game's fans don't care enough to try to chronicle it.

** The most common criticism of the Vurhonga Savanna Reserve DLC is that it's lacking many of Africa's most iconic animals. They at the very least added lions (by far the most requested animal), and gemsboks as free updates later, which were received very well, although the reserve still remains divisive at best with its complete lack of elephants, giraffes, zebras, rhinos, hyenas, cheetahs, leopards, and others.

** On occasion, a single animal or even a whole herd will fail to run away and just stand there while you shoot them. This is seen as an annoyance by some players, but as positive for others, especially when the game hand outs something good.
** The photography system is badly designed enough sometimes the game will accept something random as a "correct picture," such as say, a deer completely concealed by vegetation when its supposed to be fully visible, or even a picture without a deer in it at all. To those lucky enough to experience it, it comes as a welcome relief because of how frustrating, time-consuming, and hard these missions can be.
