* FridgeHorror: This game takes place in [[spoiler: the original VideoGame/EarthBound timeline where the chosen four never returned, having been sent back to an AlternateTimeline they created upon beating Giygas in the past.]] While at first, the player might not think much of this, but then it hits you. If [[spoiler: the chosen four created a timeline where Giygas never existed by defeating him in the past, and were sent to that timeline instead when they return, that means, going on Franchise/LegendOfZelda logic, ''Giygas still exists in the timeline the events of this game takes place in!'']]

* FridgeBrilliance: The Panic Attack enemies. When you first encounter them, they're DemonicSpiders because of their ability to spam status' that block magic / PSI as well as cause characters to freeze, in addition to the fact that Varik is likely the only one you have in the party at that point. As you progress through the game and get more party members, they become much easier to deal with. While from a technical stand point it's because you're slowly leveling up and having more party members to fight with, from a meta-stand point, it also makes since. When you have a panic attack in real life, it's much easier to deal with when you have others around you to help you calm down.

** The Darkhart battle is suppose to be depressing because it's the AnthropomorphicPersonification of [[spoiler: Dr. Andonut's]] worries that [[spoiler: his son, Jeff, despises him.]] However, the impact and melancholic nature it's suppose to have is rather negated for a lot of people due to it's battle music being ''[[CrowningMusicOfAwesome utterly freaking awesome!]]''

** [[spoiler: Dr. Andonuts']] [[ClusterFBomb cluster swearing]] VillainousBreakdown. While it fits considering everything we've seen so far, and [[JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope his mental state]] [[{{Understatement}} is far less than great at that point]], there's still a few who can't get over the fact that it's [[spoiler: ''[[AbsentMindedProfessor Dr. Andonuts]]'']] swearing up a storm like a drunken sailor.

* TearJerker: The Remember Me? enemies found in the Onett level certainly count. It's a combination of the music that plays when Buzz Buzz is dying, the fact that some of their attacks involve them hugging and making you cry because of how much they missed you, and that they just wave goodbye when they're defeated that makes some players tear up a little.
** Desperate Survivors are similar - they're bloodied, crying men who apologize for fighting you, are incredibly weak, apologize for ''your killing them'', and always drop the last ration they desperately clung to.

* FridgeLogic: One really wonders how ''VideoGame/{{Mother3}}'' would happen after this game. [[spoiler: After all, with Dr. Andonuts dead, Porky won't be able to use his technology to torment Tazmilly. Would he steal whatever the doctor had left over? Or maybe Porky wouldn't be able to salvage anything, and Lucas will have a normal life.]]

* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: It may be a hack of ''VideoGame/EarthBound,'' but it's not rated K-A[=/=]E. Even ''VideoGame/EarthBound's'' new rating of T would be pushing it.
