* GoddamnBats: The dark powers' main shock troops are venomous Harpies, which attack in seemingly endless waves. (All it takes is one getting through and administering a bite, and it's lights out).

* NightmareFuel: From a certain point of view, Aargh and Dafydd's StealthHiBye appearances and departures could be seen as this, as they could literally be anywhere, unnoticed, until they decide to make their presence known, startling James at times. In fact, in 'The Dragon and The Gnarly King', several paragraphs talk about how Aargh is able to get close to young Robert, without either of his minders noticing the wolf, and slipping away, foiling an attempt to kidnap the boy by his mere appearance. Likewise, in 'The Dragon in Lyonesse', Dafydd manages to get into the Great Hall of James's castle, simply by walking through an open door, while the guard at the gate was distracted, and warns James and his wife that someone who'd been hired to kill them could do the same. Makes one glad that the two view James as a friend, for someone who was a foe, and had their stealthy abilities, could seriously harm James.

** Guess ''The Dragon and the George'' series doesn't flow off the tongue as easily, or hold the same impact.

* EvenBetterSequel: For some reason, the series is known as The Dragon Knight series, despite ''The Dragon and the George'' being the first book in the series, and ''The Dragon Knight'' is the second.

* NeverLiveItDown: Jim made the mistake of introducing himself to Carolinus as a "Master of Arts" (his title as a college graduate). This term means something ''much'' more prestigious among Magicians, and Carolinus has never let him forget that little slip-up.
