* FanMyopia: Fans have complained about whenever ''Street Fighter'' adaptations use Guile as TheHero when M. Bison is the BigBad instead of Ryu even though Guile is well known as Bison's main [[{{Archenemy}} archnemesis]]. But again, the same adaptations do tend to [[CharacterDerailment derail]] the living hell out of Ryu.

** [[YourMileageMayVary On the other hand]], though, several of these plots had characters that were stagnant in personality and resulted in not much further development (Ken, despite learning not to be a jerk, is still a jerk in later episodes, and Blanka doesn't get ''any'' better about accepting his mutation or controlling his anger until his final appearance), or the plots were too quickly resolved within the next episode. The show may have attempted to create character arcs, but the results ended up with inconsistent characterization or resolution that came too fast, resulting in plots feeling rushed and characters feeling more [[FlatCharacter flat]] than ever.

* YourMileageMayVary: There was an episode in which Akuma payed his brother Gouken a visit. Akuma attacks Gouken with the Raging Demon, but Gouken was merely injured and had to rest for a while. Fans have complained on how the show took an overly LighterAndSofter take on that scene by having Gouken injured instead of killed off, [[NeverSayDie namely because it was a kids show]] and that because the scene was inaccurate to the game's storyline... until recently thanks to Gouken's appearance in ''Street Fighter IV''. Whether you might find this [[HarsherInHindsight annoying]] or [[HilariousInHindsight amusing]] is pretty much up to you.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: Even this movie has one, when Zangief helps everybody escape by lifting the thick steel automatic door all on his own.
* CrowningMomentOfFunny: ''[[TooDumbToLive Quick! Change the channel!]]''
** Honorable mention goes to the Japanese AN troops hacking into the surveillance camera feeds during the final battle, only to see Zangief and E. Honda wrestling each other amidst a scale model of Bisonopolis... with {{Godzilla}}-style roars in the background.

* BrokenBase: Ryu's known "Eternally Training Traveler" persona is a bit of a LoveItOrHateIt in the fandom. Either he shows the Warrior spirit and how a BloodKnight can still be very much a good guy. Characters like Garuda, Cracker Jack, Pullum, and Kairi (among others) are mildly popular as well. Arguably, ''EX'' is the darkhorse of the entire series.
*** Among fans of Skullo, there's [[DistaffCounterpart Skullo Lady]] from ''[=EX3=]''. Mentioned once, and never made a playable appearance. Fans were a bit disappointed.
* GameBreaker:
** Zangief, arguably in ''IV'', his special grabs now have ''godly'' priority. To make matters worse, the directional input for the special grabs has become insanely easier. It now only requires a half-circle motion with a diagonal up-forward or up-backward direction, followed by a punch or kick button. Also his EX Banishing Flat can beat pretty much every move in the game due to its abnormal invincibility. And his Siberian Blizzard Ultra seems to be heading this way, given the invinciblity frames while midair and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ef5MxDxv9_k its ability to out-prioritize almost everything]].
** Seth is banned only in some {{Scrub}} tournaments, though. Sagat is arguably stronger than him.
** Ace, from ''Street Fighter [=EX3=]'', in theory. Since his moveset is built by [[MegaManning mixing-'n-matching techniques from the rest of the cast]] (including the [[PutOnABus long gone]] Allen, Blair, and Akuma), Ace (simply put) is as good as you want him to be.
* LargeHam: Even Ryu becomes one in some of the crossovers.
** Dan.
** Listen to Seth's speech about humanity in his opening prologue in ''Super Street Fighter IV'' and you'll know for sure. Doubles as a [=~Hey, It's That Voice!~=] considering that speech is something you'd expect to hear from [[{{TheBigO}} Schwarzwald]].

* MemeticOutfit: Many of the alternate costumes in ''IV'' fall into this category. Some are nods to a character and/or the franchise's history (e.g., Cammy having a M.Bison/Dictator outfit, Cody having an updated version of his original ''FinalFight'' clothes, Blanka having Dan's outfit, Zangief having both Mike Haggar's outfit and his "Mecha Zangief" sprite from ''[[{{ptitlevhqbbppp}} Marvel vs. Capcom]]''), while others are nods to celebrities (e.g., all of Fei Long's outfits come from Bruce Lee's works, Dudley has an outfit tributing [[{{Queen}} Freddie Mercury's]] legendary 1986 Wembley Stadium concert outfit).
* MissedMomentOfAwesome: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyhNxbapFEc In the same animated trailer that revealed Gouken]], we see this amazing duel between Ryu and Akuma. While he was outmatched for a while, Ryu gets a HeroicSecondWind from a recollection of his childhood with Gouken and starts matching Akuma (arguably even getting the upper-hand at a few points). Later, as Akuma lunges at Ryu with his Shun Goku Satsu as the former is charging up his new Metsu Hadoken, Ken--''[[DynamicEntry out of nowhere]]''--interrupts the fight with a Shinryuken and gives a speech about how crazy Ryu was for trying to fight Akuma without his help. Naturally, fans were expecting an [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome epic]] BashBrothers[=/=]BackToBackBadasses moment [[DualBoss against Akuma]]. While Akuma ''is'' Ryu's rival ingame, Ken unfortunately gets the short end of the stick and is left out, and the ensuing fight [[CutscenePowerToTheMax is nowhere near]] [[{{HSQ}} as awe-inspiring]].
** Mixing this trope with WhatCouldHaveBeen, concept art shows that Guy's alternate outfit in ''IV'' was planned to be {{Strider}} Hiryu. Considering that Hiryu is such an EnsembleDarkhorse in [[CapcomVsWhatever certain areas of the fighting game community]]...

** Akuma's Demon Armageddon Ultra Combo. There's a reason why its FanNickname is the "(Demon) Roflcoptor"...

** Akuma's new Ultra in ''Super IV'', Demon Armageddon, has him kick the opponent in the air, then proceed to do a super version of his HurricaneKick that makes a tornado appear from under him in order to propel him high enough to give the opponent a massive kick to the chest that goes through them. The concept seems awesome, but the presentation is downright silly. Many times over this move has been compared to ''{{Beyblade}}'' and ''LooneyTunes''.
** Just try watching Rufus' and Zangief's cut-scenes without laughing at how over-the-top they are.
** And El Fuerte. Don't forget El Fuerte.
** Doubling as MemeticMutation in both the English ''and'' Japanese version: Guy's "'''PROFOUND SADNESS!'''"/"'''MUNEN!'''", [[{{Mondegreen}} or as the fans hear it]], "'''MUNANG!'''".
* NightmareFuel:
** Seth is completely naked, but his cybernetic implants manage to hide his unmentionables.
*** Subverted ''just slightly'' in his alternate costume, which has recently been released for download. It gives him pants and boots, which eliminate the first part, but contribute more to the second part due to the pants being ''extremely tight''.
*** His Ultra Combo from ''IV''. If he can do that, imagine what else he could do to you.
*** The BLECE weapon Seth is working on is a pretty gruesome thing. [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin It releases an energy that causes cells to boil and explode,]] hardly a pleasant sounding way to die.
** In his [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMuqJAbxVXI Big Bang Tornado]], Rufus starts to spin on the place really, ''really'' fast. While doing so, however, his head can be clearly seen ''standing perfectly still'', watching at the player with ''scary, evil eyes''... Brrrrr...
*** Actually, if you look closely when the game goes into slow motion, you can see him spinning his head. He's just [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotting_%28dancing%29 spotting]] [[ShownTheirWork to keep from getting dizzy]], he's just doing it ''really fast''.
** The PC version of ''IV'' can easily be hacked so that the characters can use other characters' moves. An unfortunate side effect of this is that some bits don't quite match up, resulting in some pretty horrifying imagery when the camera zooms in for an Ultra.
* PortingDistillation:
** The PC version of StreetFighterIV, in addition to running like greased lightning, also offers a plethora of selectable graphics mods to choose from to spice up the game, not to mention the gratuitous amounts of modded content available. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like ''Super Street Fighter IV'' will be getting a PC port any time soon.
** May be the case with ''SSFIV: 3D Edition''; it is a complete port of the home console version (with downgraded graphics that the 3DS can handle), but also has new features that take advantage of the 3DS's Tag Mode and Wi-Fi.

* [[ScrappyLevel Scrappy Game]]: The Xbox Live Arcade version of ''Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting''. The game had ridiculous lag (especially on Balrog's stage because there's so much animation going on in the background), horrible balance, and an infinite timer on the character select screen which, when coupled with the ability to de-select your character, lead to long times at the select screen due to counter-picking.

* TearJerker: T. Hawk's ending in ''Super SFIV'', [[YourMileageMayVary more or less.]] It turns into a [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming CMOH]] at the end, though.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks:
** Dudley's [[TheOtherDarrin new English voice actor]] for ''Super IV'' has caused a massive uproar amongst fans, despite the character finally returning to the lineup. It would seem that the popularity of Francis Diakowsky, who voiced Dudley in ''3rd Strike'', is just as big as the character himself. Not to mention that, while he still retains his rose taunt from ''3rd Strike'', many were pissed to know that the rose doesn't do ''any'' damage in ''SSFIV''. At all. Not even that one point of damage needed to finish an opponent [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome with style]].
** Almost any change to a character's stats in ''Super Street Fighter IV'' from buffs to nerfs, someone, somewhere, will complain real hard about the changes.
* TierInducedScrappy:
** Chun-Li's ''Super IV'' version barely avoids this. While she's still top tier, there are other characters just as good as (and more hated than) her.
* TheWesley: Seth, to an '''''UNBELIEVABLE''''' degree. He's recieved a huge amount of flack from reviewers and the fandom in general for his lackluster design, massively cheap A.I. and cloned move-list. Producer Yoshinori Ono acknowledges this hatred, [[http://x-ism.com/2010/04/09/yoshinori-ono-speaks-to-play3-de/ recently stating]] "Everybody hates Seth, that's why he's back as the end boss in ''SSFIV''. I want to torture people with him!" and admits "Seth will remain a target of universal hate."

* EarWorm:
** Most of the stage music of ''II'' qualifies: there are many gamers who will NEVER stop humming the stage themes of Ken and Guile.
** Also, the theme tune. If you can't hum that ''and'' see a nameless fighter punching his opponent's lights out in your mind's eye, you weren't even alive in 1991... or you were playing the {{SNES}} versions.

** Zangief is ALWAYS a fan favorite, even though he's never been in a protagonic role. Fans CLAMOR for him whenever he's missing from a game. To the point that KEN AND AKUMA were left out of ''[=~Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of the Superheroes~=]'', but Zangief wasn't.
** Fei Long. Not to the extent of say, Cammy, but he ''was'' the only other "New Challenger" to make it to the console ports of ''IV''. That has to say something.
** Cammy: She was the first of the New Challengers to be present in most later games, and the ONLY New Challenger to be involved in crossovers.

* FollowTheLeader: All the knock-offs, which did eventually lead to a GenreLaunch.

** Zangief, arguably in ''IV, his special grabs now have ''godly'' priority. To make matters worse, the directional input for the special grabs has become insanely easier. ** Bison's ''Champion Edition'' version has deadly priority with most of his attacks, and he has a scissor kick combo that can completely shut down half of the cast. Even when he was {{nerf}}ed in ''Hyper Fighting'' he still had some ridiculous combos.
** In ''Super Turbo'' and its successor ''HD Remix'', Akuma is banned for having ridiculously overpowered combos and juggles. He was eventually balanced out in later games, though, with his most balanced form so far being in ''IV''. That can't be said for his "Shin" incarnation.

* GrowingTheBeard[=/=]SurprisinglyImprovedSequel: The original ''Game/StreetFighter'' [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness sucks by modern standards]]: [[RyuAndKen two playable characters that are just a few pixels from]] PaletteSwap, unresponsive controls, special moves that rarely if ever work. ''StreetFighterII'', on the other hand, became the TropeCodifier for the FightingGame.

* BrokenBase: The ''[[StreetFighter EX]]'' series, for making ''Street Fighter'' [=3D=] in the first place.

** Recently, Ken has been earning a lot of scorn from mostly online players because so many people use him online. No one knows why, but it might be due to his ease of use instead of Ryu, who somehow got harder to use as time passed.
* ComplacentGamingSyndrome: In ''StreetFighterIII'', as a result of removing all of the old cast except Ryu and Ken. As a result, 75% of all players picked Ken, 20% picked Ryu, and 5% picked one of the other characters. It got a little better in ''Second Impact''. But in ''3rd Strike'', not only was Ken a tad bit easier to learn than Ryu in the ''III'' series, but he was ''top tier'' (alongside Chun-Li and Yun) in ''[=3S=]''. In other words, TournamentPlay was filled with Ken, Chun-Li, Yun, and the occasional Akuma. This status followed him into ''StreetFighterIV'', with lukewarm reception. There's a reason the trope [[RenamedTropes used to go by the name of]] "That Damn Ken".

* CrazyAwesome: Juri, with emphasis on ''crazy''.

** Ibuki, to the point where she placed 22nd on the aforementioned IGN's List of Top 25 ''Street Fighter'' Characters.
** Dudley. A lot of fans like him better than Balrog, to the point where he actually won a fan poll to see who fans wanted to appear most in ''Street Fighter IV''. Capcom granted the fans' wish by including him in ''Super Street Fighter IV'', [[TheRival alongside Balrog]]. In addition, he placed 25th on IGN's List of Top 25 ''Street Fighter'' Characters.
** Makoto. Unlike many of the newcomers in ''III'', she has actually been hailed as a great addition to the cast. Episode 33 of 1up.com's ''[[http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3156908 Retronauts]]'' podcast actually singled out Makoto as being "pure ''Street Fighter''" in relation to the rest of the cast, whereas she placed 23rd on IGN's List of Top 25 ''Street Fighter'' Characters. Perhaps being savvy enough to realize this, Capcom included her in ''SSFIV''.
** Yun and Yang. The fact that Yun has had the most out-of-series appearances out of all the ''III'' characters (''[=CvS2=]'', later revisions of ''Street Fighter Alpha 3'', ''CapcomFightingEvolution'') and the [[AndTheFandomRejoiced Fandom Rejoicing]] for the twins' inclusion in the [[UpdatedRerelease Arcade Edition]] of ''SSFIV'' cements them as this.
** Elena is both this and (unfortunately) TierInducedScrappy: while it's hard to dislike her optimistic personality and you'll find plenty of fanart of her (for obvious reasons), you'll rarely see her actually played, as she's considered to be underpowered.

* FanDumb: Apparently, a black British gentleman is still something so foreign to some people that lengthy debates about Dudley's ethnicity rage to this day. His overtly caucasian features don't particularly help matters...

** Gill, [[SNKBoss natch.]]
** Urien, arguably due to his Aegis Reflector combos which, if done correctly, take off an exceptional amount of damage, even killing the opponent in one swift stroke.

** Urien, due to [[ScaryBlackMan his]] [[{{Stripperiffic}} appearance]]:

** Yun and Yang are the same age in every game they appear in. Thankfully, their appearances in ''Street Fighter Alpha 3'' and ''Capcom vs. SNK 2'' are non-canon, but even in their ''SFIV'' cameo, they look the same as ever.
** We don't know anything about Q, or if it's even a him, or if it's even human. He is a creepy looking figure in a trenchcoat with a seemingly metal expressionless face, he breaths heavily and grunts without talking in fights. Absolutely everything about him is unknown, and he could be [[ParanoiaFuel anywhere at any time.]]
** Twelve is overall quite creepy on his own, but what really takes the cake is the ''downright chilling voice'' he has while copying an opponent with the X-Copy Super Art... It must be heard to understand...

* RuinedFOREVER: Basically how the most of the fans react whenever a new numbered iteration comes out that changes the gameplay from the last iteration. The current BerserkButton subject for the StopHavingFunGuys seems to be Hakan, which is interesting considering how good he is.

** Gill's Seraphic Wing. You ''will'' [[MemeticMutation taste]] [[FanNickname the rainbow]].

** Ken receives much flak he gets for [[ComplacentGamingSyndrome being used 99.9 percent of the time online]]. And before ''that'', there was his top-tier ''3rd Strike'' incarnation. Oh Ken, how you've been a flowchart over the years...
** Also Chun-Li's ''3rd Strike'' version. Her ''Super IV'' version barely avoids this. While she's still top tier, there are other characters just as good as (and more hated than) her.

** Rolento is ''way'' fixated with military jargon and utopic dreams, but hey, he can dish it out pretty well.
* EarWorm: Most of the stage music of ''II'' qualifies: there are many gamers who will NEVER stop humming the stage themes of Ken and Guile. Also, the theme tune. If you can't hum that ''and'' see a nameless fighter punching his opponent's lights out in your mind's eye, you weren't even alive in 1991... or you were playing the {{SNES}} versions.
