** [[YourMileageMayVary On the other hand]], though, several of these plots had characters that were stagnant in personality and resulted in not much further development (Ken, despite learning not to be a jerk, is still a jerk in later episodes, and Blanka doesn't get ''any'' better about accepting his mutation or controlling his anger until his final appearance), or the plots were too quickly resolved within the next episode. The show may have attempted to create character arcs, but the results ended up with inconsistent characterization or resolution that came too fast, resulting in plots feeling rushed and characters feeling more [[FlatCharacter flat]] than ever.

* YourMileageMayVary: There was an episode in which Akuma payed his brother Gouken a visit. Akuma attacks Gouken with the Raging Demon, but Gouken was merely injured and had to rest for a while. Fans have complained on how the show took an overly LighterAndSofter take on that scene by having Gouken injured instead of killed off, [[NeverSayDie namely because it was a kids show]] and that because the scene was inaccurate to the game's storyline... until recently thanks to Gouken's appearance in ''Street Fighter IV''. Whether you might find this [[HarsherInHindsight annoying]] or [[HilariousInHindsight amusing]] is pretty much up to you.

Wrong audience reaction trope.

* BrokenBase: Ryu's known "Eternally Training Traveler" persona is a bit of a LoveItOrHateIt in the fandom. Either he shows the Warrior spirit and how a BloodKnight can still be very much a good guy. Or he is a overly blatant StockCharacter with barely any CharacterDevelopment and is one of the biggest reasons why the series has been accused of being an example of StatusQuoIsGod. Both sides have been vocal (for lack of better word) for various reasons over the years.

Added DiffLines:

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
** The infamous moment in the first episode when Ryu gets slimed by "Arnold the Pig".
** In Guile's dream when Escher turns into, of all things, a WEREWOLF. This being the episode "Getting to Guile".
** The same episode had giant versions of the cast pushing Guile around. That's not even getting into the bacon house monster that Guile and Bison walk inside of in said dream sequence.
** Every time Blanka flips out in later episodes.
** Damnd, in the ''{{Final Fight}}'' episode, sticking electrical equipment into his mouth for what seems to be no apparent reason.
* CrowningMomentOfFunny:
** Bison's ultimate burn in the final episode:
-->'''Chun-Li:''' Monster! You killed my--
-->'''Bison:''' Yes, yes, I killed your father. What is it with you women, anyway?! [[CompleteMonster I killed]] ''[[CompleteMonster my]]'' [[SelfMadeOrphan father, too,]] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq5TSgXHenk and you don't hear me whining about it!]]"
** When Guile and Bison have to team up to fight Akuma, and Bison waits until the last second to save Guile from falling into [[ConvectionSchmonvection lava]]:
-->'''Bison:''' Not having your sense of morals, I had to weight the pros and cons of saving you.
-->'''Guile:''' And?
-->'''Bison:''' Self-preservation narrowly won out over the pleasure of watching you burn.
* GrowingTheBeard: The second season has several character arcs through its episodes(i.e. Blanka's accidental further mutation, a growing rivalry between Ken and Ryu, Cammy's brainwashing, and Bison's acquisition of an ancient healing statue that, over the course of the season, drives him to world-destroying insanity). All this and ''FinalFight'', too!
* HarsherInHindsight: When Rose looks at her cards, the final one is "Doom", which is portrayed as a flaming tower.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** "No one has ever defeated Sagat, and no one ever ''will!''" Cut to ''Street Fighter IV'', when Sagat is top tier...
** Fans cried foul when Akuma merely [[NeverSayDie "injured"]] Gouken. Then comes ''Street Fighter IV'', which established that Gouken did not die and [[HesJustHiding was simply hiding]] while recovering all this time.
* IdiotPlot: In ''No Way Out'', the villains probably would have won if they just used the tanks to bust down the gate ''first''.

Added DiffLines:

* MemeticBadass: Bison.
* MemeticMutation: See the [[Memes/StreetFighter page]].
* MissedMomentOfAwesome: The ''Final Fight'' episode was generally about as faithful as you could expect, with one glaring omission: At no point does Mayor Mike Haggar [[PapaWolf rip off his own shirt and rampage through his own city to rescue his daughter]].

Added DiffLines:

* {{Wangst}}: Blanka is sometimes criticized as being incredibly whiny about the whole "Mutation" thing. In fairness, he was unwillingly mutated, but literally ''every single appearance that centered around him'' had him angsting in some way or another, despite common sense dictating that he get over it.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Even people who hate the movie love Zangief.

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: The final Guile-vs.-Bison battle takes on a different tone when you realize that Van Damme is beating up a terminal cancer patient.
** Probably doubly so if you take into account CrazyPrepared.

* HilariousInHindsight: Guile says that he's gonna "kick that son-of-a-bitch Bison's ass so hard that the next Bison wannabe is gonna feel it." Cue [[StreetFighterTheLegendOfChunLi the next adaptation of the franchise...]]

* MemeticMutation: See the [[Memes/StreetFighter page]].
* MissedMomentOfAwesome: LongStory short, Sagat has RyuAndKen, and he's going to force them to fight the undefeated Vega in an MMA cage. Ryu is up first. Vega has his [[{{BFS}} Big Freaking Claw]] on. Just as the fight is about to begin... Guile's U.N. forces burst in and arrest everybody.
** What would have saved this scene, would've been having Vega beat Ryu nearly to death. Just as he's about to finish him off, THEN have Guile stop the fight.
* RetroactiveRecognition: [[TheTexasChainsawMassacre Leatherface]] plays Zangief.
* RootingForTheEmpire: On the one hand, you have the magnificently absurd and entertaining performance by Raul Julia, a great actor who tragically died in his prime shortly after completing the film. On the other, a corny and bland one by Jean-Claude Van Damme as the boring, traditional hero. Who do you honestly want to win?

* SpiritualLicensee: Heroic army lead by a handsome blond American takes on a crazy megalomaniac who wants to take over the world and his shiny-domed weapons supplier. Are we sure this wasn't originally a script for an unmade ''GIJoe'' film?
* TookTheBadFilmSeriously: Watch the "Making Of" featurette on the DVD. The actors seem well aware of the ridiculousness of the movie they are making. However, director Stephen de Souza seems to be under the impression that he's making the next ''DieHard'' / ''LethalWeapon''.
** Which might be a bit of FridgeBrilliance, considering he wrote the screenplay for ''DieHard''.

to:

* YourMileageMayVary: Was Raul Julia's Ham REALLY enough to make this film watchable?
** Of COURSE!!
* WTHCastingAgency:
** Exactly whose idea was it to cast a 52-year-old classically-trained theater actor with absolutely zero martial arts background in an action movie based on a video game? RaulJulia's [[SoMyKidsCanWatch kids']], that's who. However, as it turns out, he's by far the most memorable character of the movie for his LargeHam performance.
** Far worse has got to be JeanClaudeVanDamme, with his unshakable Belgian accent, as a character so American he's got the American flag tattooed on both shoulders.

!To be sorted
* BrokenBase:
** The ''[[StreetFighter EX]]'' series, for making ''Street Fighter'' [=3D=] in the first place.
** Whether or not [[OriginalGeneration the characters introduced in]] ''EX'' should become {{Canon Immigrant}}s or not. See "EnsembleDarkhorse" on the ''EX'' page.
* CompleteMonster:
** M. Bison is pretty much the living embodiment of evil, since that's the gist of his powers.
** Vega.
** Also Juri, unless her [[BreakTheCutie tragic]] [[ParentalAbandonment past]] makes her exempt from this trope.
* CrazyAwesome:
** Juri, with emphasis on ''crazy''.
** Hakan, with emphasis on ''awesome''!
* EnsembleDarkhorse: [[{{Understatement}} Quite a few.]]
** Retsu. Despite having appeared only in the original game, he's much more loved by the fanbase than other characters who suffered the same fate, and he has been used prominently in several related media.
** If one says the words "''StreetFighterEX''", the name Skullomania '''leaps''' to mind. To this day, he shows up on a disproportionate amount of character wishlists. Characters like Garuda, Cracker Jack, Pullum, and Kairi (among others) are mildly popular as well. Arguably, ''EX'' is the darkhorse of the entire series.
*** Among fans of Skullo, there's [[DistaffCounterpart Skullo Lady]] from ''[=EX3=]''. Mentioned once, and never made a playable appearance. Fans were a bit disappointed.
* GameBreaker:
** Zangief, arguably in ''IV'', his special grabs now have ''godly'' priority. To make matters worse, the directional input for the special grabs has become insanely easier. It now only requires a half-circle motion with a diagonal up-forward or up-backward direction, followed by a punch or kick button. Also his EX Banishing Flat can beat pretty much every move in the game due to its abnormal invincibility. And his Siberian Blizzard Ultra seems to be heading this way, given the invinciblity frames while midair and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ef5MxDxv9_k its ability to out-prioritize almost everything]].
** Seth is banned only in some {{Scrub}} tournaments, though. Sagat is arguably stronger than him.
** Ace, from ''Street Fighter [=EX3=]'', in theory. Since his moveset is built by [[MegaManning mixing-'n-matching techniques from the rest of the cast]] (including the [[PutOnABus long gone]] Allen, Blair, and Akuma), Ace (simply put) is as good as you want him to be.
* LargeHam: Even Ryu becomes one in some of the crossovers.
** Dan.
** Listen to Seth's speech about humanity in his opening prologue in ''Super Street Fighter IV'' and you'll know for sure. Doubles as a [=~Hey, It's That Voice!~=] considering that speech is something you'd expect to hear from [[{{TheBigO}} Schwarzwald]].
*** Listen to his TheReasonYouSuckSpeech in ''The Ties That Bind'' in English. The hamminess is virtually overflowing.
* MemeticMolester:
** Zangief.
** [[spoiler:Balrog slowly heads this way thanks to his ''IV'' ending, where he takes a [[AmbiguousGender child]] out of the collapsing S.I.N. base.]]
** Bison, due to his actions in regards to [[BrainwashedAndCrazy The]] [[{{Lolicon}} Dolls]] (one of whom is his OppositeSexClone) and his female EnemyWithout [[IncorruptiblePurePureness Rose]] (who he's had a tendency of either knocking out, whisking away, or [[GrandTheftMe possessing]]) as well as his new Ultra in ''Super SSFIV'', the [[FanNickname Psycho Abortion]] get shades of this. In particular:
-->'''Bison''' (''to Dhalsim'' -— ''Street Fighter Alpha 3''): "You have an excellent body."
** ''Juri'', and hers is probably the closest case to being canon. Her win quotes make it pretty clear that a win for her is [[IfYouKnowWhatIMean much more]] than merely beating your face in. Just check out all of her Rival Battles; she's openly hitting on the likes of Chun-Li, Cammy, and M. Bison.
* MemeticOutfit: Many of the alternate costumes in ''IV'' fall into this category. Some are nods to a character and/or the franchise's history (e.g., Cammy having a M.Bison/Dictator outfit, Cody having an updated version of his original ''FinalFight'' clothes, Blanka having Dan's outfit, Zangief having both Mike Haggar's outfit and his "Mecha Zangief" sprite from ''[[{{ptitlevhqbbppp}} Marvel vs. Capcom]]''), while others are nods to celebrities (e.g., all of Fei Long's outfits come from Bruce Lee's works, Dudley has an outfit tributing [[{{Queen}} Freddie Mercury's]] legendary 1986 Wembley Stadium concert outfit).
* MissedMomentOfAwesome: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyhNxbapFEc In the same animated trailer that revealed Gouken]], we see this amazing duel between Ryu and Akuma. While he was outmatched for a while, Ryu gets a HeroicSecondWind from a recollection of his childhood with Gouken and starts matching Akuma (arguably even getting the upper-hand at a few points). Later, as Akuma lunges at Ryu with his Shun Goku Satsu as the former is charging up his new Metsu Hadoken, Ken--''[[DynamicEntry out of nowhere]]''--interrupts the fight with a Shinryuken and gives a speech about how crazy Ryu was for trying to fight Akuma without his help. Naturally, fans were expecting an [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome epic]] BashBrothers[=/=]BackToBackBadasses moment [[DualBoss against Akuma]]. While Akuma ''is'' Ryu's rival ingame, Ken unfortunately gets the short end of the stick and is left out, and the ensuing fight [[CutscenePowerToTheMax is nowhere near]] [[{{HSQ}} as awe-inspiring]].
** Mixing this trope with WhatCouldHaveBeen, concept art shows that Guy's alternate outfit in ''IV'' was planned to be {{Strider}} Hiryu. Considering that Hiryu is such an EnsembleDarkhorse in [[CapcomVsWhatever certain areas of the fighting game community]]...
* {{Narm}}:
** Akuma's Demon Armageddon Ultra Combo. There's a reason why its FanNickname is the "(Demon) Roflcoptor"...
** Guy's death scream in ''Super Street Fighter IV'', "Profound sadness!"
*** Ninja Blades!
* NarmCharm:
** Akuma's new Ultra in ''Super IV'', Demon Armageddon, has him kick the opponent in the air, then proceed to do a super version of his HurricaneKick that makes a tornado appear from under him in order to propel him high enough to give the opponent a massive kick to the chest that goes through them. The concept seems awesome, but the presentation is downright silly. Many times over this move has been compared to ''{{Beyblade}}'' and ''LooneyTunes''.
** Just try watching Rufus' and Zangief's cut-scenes without laughing at how over-the-top they are.
** And El Fuerte. Don't forget El Fuerte.
** Doubling as MemeticMutation in both the English ''and'' Japanese version: Guy's "'''PROFOUND SADNESS!'''"/"'''MUNEN!'''", [[{{Mondegreen}} or as the fans hear it]], "'''MUNANG!'''".
* NightmareFuel:
** Seth is completely naked, but his cybernetic implants manage to hide his unmentionables.
*** Subverted ''just slightly'' in his alternate costume, which has recently been released for download. It gives him pants and boots, which eliminate the first part, but contribute more to the second part due to the pants being ''extremely tight''.
*** His Ultra Combo from ''IV''. If he can do that, imagine what else he could do to you.
*** The BLECE weapon Seth is working on is a pretty gruesome thing. [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin It releases an energy that causes cells to boil and explode,]] hardly a pleasant sounding way to die.
** In his [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMuqJAbxVXI Big Bang Tornado]], Rufus starts to spin on the place really, ''really'' fast. While doing so, however, his head can be clearly seen ''standing perfectly still'', watching at the player with ''scary, evil eyes''... Brrrrr...
*** Actually, if you look closely when the game goes into slow motion, you can see him spinning his head. He's just [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotting_%28dancing%29 spotting]] [[ShownTheirWork to keep from getting dizzy]], he's just doing it ''really fast''.
** The PC version of ''IV'' can easily be hacked so that the characters can use other characters' moves. An unfortunate side effect of this is that some bits don't quite match up, resulting in some pretty horrifying imagery when the camera zooms in for an Ultra.
* PortingDistillation:
** The PC version of StreetFighterIV, in addition to running like greased lightning, also offers a plethora of selectable graphics mods to choose from to spice up the game, not to mention the gratuitous amounts of modded content available. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like ''Super Street Fighter IV'' will be getting a PC port any time soon.
** May be the case with ''SSFIV: 3D Edition''; it is a complete port of the home console version (with downgraded graphics that the 3DS can handle), but also has new features that take advantage of the 3DS's Tag Mode and Wi-Fi.
* SequelDisplacement
* TheScrappy:
** Seth is universally utterly despised. See "TheWesley" below for added insult to injury.
* [[ScrappyLevel Scrappy Game]]: The Xbox Live Arcade version of ''Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting''. The game had ridiculous lag (especially on Balrog's stage because there's so much animation going on in the background), horrible balance, and an infinite timer on the character select screen which, when coupled with the ability to de-select your character, lead to long times at the select screen due to counter-picking.
* SurprisinglyImprovedSequel: One of the top examples of that trope.
* TearJerker: T. Hawk's ending in ''Super SFIV'', [[YourMileageMayVary more or less.]] It turns into a [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming CMOH]] at the end, though.
* ThatOneAttack:
** [[Memes/StreetFighter No, Blanka! Not the headbite!]]
** Akuma's Shun Goku Satsu. Especially the Shin Akuma variant, which is much faster and has better priority (in ''SSFIV'', Shin Akuma's SGS is ''crazy'' fast). ''Capcom vs. SNK 2'' also gives us a [[OriginalGeneration new version]] of Shin Akuma (fueled by the [[TheKingOfFighters Orochi power]]) who possesses what is perhaps the deadliest and most [[BadassBlink instanteous]] [[OneHitKill death]] ''ever'': [[DeathFromAbove Misogi]].
* ThatOneBoss:
** Akuma's Shin incarnation.
* TheyChangedItNowItSucks:
** Dudley's [[TheOtherDarrin new English voice actor]] for ''Super IV'' has caused a massive uproar amongst fans, despite the character finally returning to the lineup. It would seem that the popularity of Francis Diakowsky, who voiced Dudley in ''3rd Strike'', is just as big as the character himself. Not to mention that, while he still retains his rose taunt from ''3rd Strike'', many were pissed to know that the rose doesn't do ''any'' damage in ''SSFIV''. At all. Not even that one point of damage needed to finish an opponent [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome with style]].
** Almost any change to a character's stats in ''Super Street Fighter IV'' from buffs to nerfs, someone, somewhere, will complain real hard about the changes.
* TierInducedScrappy:
** Chun-Li's ''Super IV'' version barely avoids this. While she's still top tier, there are other characters just as good as (and more hated than) her.
* TheWesley: Seth, to an '''''UNBELIEVABLE''''' degree. He's recieved a huge amount of flack from reviewers and the fandom in general for his lackluster design, massively cheap A.I. and cloned move-list. Producer Yoshinori Ono acknowledges this hatred, [[http://x-ism.com/2010/04/09/yoshinori-ono-speaks-to-play3-de/ recently stating]] "Everybody hates Seth, that's why he's back as the end boss in ''SSFIV''. I want to torture people with him!" and admits "Seth will remain a target of universal hate."

Both sides have been vocal (for lack of better word) for various reasons over the years.
** Recently, Ken has been earning a lot of scorn from mostly online players because so many people use him online. No one knows why, but it might be due to his ease of use instead of Ryu, who somehow got harder to use as time passed.
* ComplacentGamingSyndrome: In ''StreetFighterIII'', as a result of removing all of the old cast except Ryu and Ken. As a result, 75% of all players picked Ken, 20% picked Ryu, and 5% picked one of the other characters. It got a little better in ''Second Impact''. But in ''3rd Strike'', not only was Ken a tad bit easier to learn than Ryu in the ''III'' series, but he was ''top tier'' (alongside Chun-Li and Yun) in ''[=3S=]''. In other words, TournamentPlay was filled with Ken, Chun-Li, Yun, and the occasional Akuma. This status followed him into ''StreetFighterIV'', with lukewarm reception. There's a reason the trope [[RenamedTropes used to go by the name of]] "That Damn Ken".

versions.

** Alex, when compared to the rest of the ''Street Fighter'' characters, that is. He was one of the four ''SFIII'' characters to make IGN's List of Top 25 ''Street Fighter'' Characters ([[http://stars.ign.com/articles/895/895023p4.html Alex placed 17th]]).
** Ibuki, to the point where she placed 22nd on the aforementioned IGN's List of Top 25 ''Street Fighter'' Characters.
** Dudley. A lot of fans like him better than Balrog, to the point where he actually won a fan poll to see who fans wanted to appear most in ''Street Fighter IV''. Capcom granted the fans' wish by including him in ''Super Street Fighter IV'', [[TheRival alongside Balrog]]. In addition, he placed 25th on IGN's List of Top 25 ''Street Fighter'' Characters.
** Makoto. Unlike many of the newcomers in ''III'', she has actually been hailed as a great addition to the cast. Episode 33 of 1up.com's ''[[http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3156908 Retronauts]]'' podcast actually singled out Makoto as being "pure ''Street Fighter''" in relation to the rest of the cast, whereas she placed 23rd on IGN's List of Top 25 ''Street Fighter'' Characters. Perhaps being savvy enough to realize this, Capcom included her in ''SSFIV''.
** Yun and Yang. The fact that Yun has had the most out-of-series appearances out of all the ''III'' characters (''[=CvS2=]'', later revisions of ''Street Fighter Alpha 3'', ''CapcomFightingEvolution'') and the [[AndTheFandomRejoiced Fandom Rejoicing]] for the twins' inclusion in the [[UpdatedRerelease Arcade Edition]] of ''SSFIV'' cements them as this.
** Elena is both this and (unfortunately) TierInducedScrappy: while it's hard to dislike her optimistic personality and you'll find plenty of fanart of her (for obvious reasons), you'll rarely see her actually played, as she's considered to be underpowered.

* FanDumb: Apparently, a black British gentleman is still something so foreign to some people that lengthy debates about Dudley's ethnicity rage to this day. His overtly caucasian features don't particularly help matters...

** Gill, [[SNKBoss natch.]]
** Urien, arguably due to his Aegis Reflector combos which, if done correctly, take off an exceptional amount of damage, even killing the opponent in one swift stroke.

** Urien, due to [[ScaryBlackMan his]] [[{{Stripperiffic}} appearance]]:
-->'''Urien''': "[[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything Lie there as long as you want, I've had my fun with you.]]"
** People like to joke that Ibuki, due her goal to meet "cool boys" in ''SSFIV'', is extremely horny and willing to go to great lengths to get some.

* MemeticSexGod: Or [[GenderFlip Memetic Sex Goddess]], in this case. There are few ladies in this series that don't get this kind of admiration among the fandom.

** Yun and Yang are the same age in every game they appear in. Thankfully, their appearances in ''Street Fighter Alpha 3'' and ''Capcom vs. SNK 2'' are non-canon, but even in their ''SFIV'' cameo, they look the same as ever.
** We don't know anything about Q, or if it's even a him, or if it's even human. He is a creepy looking figure in a trenchcoat with a seemingly metal expressionless face, he breaths heavily and grunts without talking in fights. Absolutely everything about him is unknown, and he could be [[ParanoiaFuel anywhere at any time.]]
** Twelve is overall quite creepy on his own, but what really takes the cake is the ''downright chilling voice'' he has while copying an opponent with the X-Copy Super Art... It must be heard to understand...

* RuinedFOREVER: Basically how the most of the fans react whenever a new numbered iteration comes out that changes the gameplay from the last iteration. The current BerserkButton subject for the StopHavingFunGuys seems to be Hakan, which is interesting considering how good he is.

** Also Chun-Li's ''3rd Strike'' version. Her ''Super IV'' version barely avoids this. While she's still top tier, there are other characters just as good as (and more hated than) her.
* VindicatedByHistory: As said above, the ''StreetFighterIII'' series was trashed when it was initially released because it was a complete departure from the considerably more user-friendly ''Alpha'' series, and some professional reviewers even went so far as to dock it for looking "[[CriticalResearchFailure like an SNES game.]]" Eventually, about a decade later, tournament-level players latched onto the series as most mainstream fighting games began to resemble ''GuiltyGear'' more and more and they desired something a little more technical, and casual fans discovered the game through emulation and a Playstation2 re-release, and the series is now a mainstay at the EVO tournament.

** Juri wears that Taekwondo equivalent of ass less chaps combined with a top that revealed a lot of sideboob. It doesn't help that in the early build of her model, the straps of her shirt [[SexyBack looked more like tatoos]]. Counting all alternative/full power forms present, this gives us a grand total of '''''TEN [[{{Shotoclone}} SHOTOS]]'''''. [[InternetBackdraft And boom goes the dynamite.]]
* CharacterDerailment: Dudley is ''far'' less [[BritishStuffiness imperious and snobby]] than he used to be when he first debuted and is portrayed as much more of constructive nice-guy in ''SSFIV'', likely because of his [[ExecutiveMeddling surge in popularity]]. Take into account that ''IV'' is set three years before ''New Generation''. Then, you'll see Dudley going from constructive nice-guy (in ''IV'') to an imperious and snobby [[GentlemanSnarker gentleman snarker]] (''New Generation'' and ''2nd Impact''; he softens up a little in ''3rd Strike'') during that time period.
** Chalk it up to the series' AnachronicOrder.

** Thanks to it being in both the intro ''and'' the main menu for the game, [[http://video.nate.com/210167067 "The Next Door - Indestructible,"]] the theme song of ''SFIV''. It's J-pop beat quickly got into a lot of players' heads. In fact, ''Gamepro'' even deducted a point in its review of ''Super'' for not including the song.

** ''Super Street Fighter IV'', thanks to some [[RelationshipWritingFumble unintentionally]] [[ShipTease romantic]] [[BossBanter scenes]], gives us Guy/Rose. Although it was supposed to be presented as Guy [[ApologeticAttacker reluctantly]] [[FightingYourFriend dueling with a member of his]] {{nakama}}, [[ShippingGoggles most fans find it hard to see the pair as anything other than an item]]. Keep in mind that canonically, Guy is ''married''.

Added DiffLines:

* VindicatedByHistory: As said above, the series was trashed when it was initially released because it was a complete departure from the considerably more user-friendly ''Alpha'' series, and some professional reviewers even went so far as to dock it for looking "[[CriticalResearchFailure like an SNES game.]]" Eventually, about a decade later, tournament-level players latched onto the series as most mainstream fighting games began to resemble ''GuiltyGear'' more and more and they desired something a little more technical, and casual fans discovered the game through emulation and a Playstation2 re-release, and the series is now a mainstay at the EVO tournament.

* PortingDistillation:

** Ryu's known "Eternally Training Traveler" persona is a bit of a LoveItOrHateIt in the fandom. Either he is the MostTriumphantExample of the Warrior spirit and on how a BloodKnight can still be very much a good guy. Or he is a overly blatant StockCharacter with barely any CharacterDevelopment and is one of the biggest reasons why the series has been accused of being an example of StatusQuoIsGod. Both sides have been vocal (for lack of better word) for various reasons over the years.
** Recently, Ken has been earning a lot of scorn from mostly online players because so many people use him online. No one knows why, but it might be due to his ease of use instead of Ryu, who somehow got harder to use as time passed.
