* UnpopularPopularCharacter: While GG the Giraffe is TheFriendNobodyLikes to the rest of the band, she's very popular among the fans, having multiple pieces of merchandise dedicated to her including a collectible figurine.

As mentioned in the example itself, Upgrade has a good number of fans, and the example focuses too much on criticisms of Erin as a person rather than Upgrade as a character. The Jon is a Zero Context Example and also not hated enough to count.

* TheScrappy: While not as extreme as other examples, quite a few fans disliked Upgrade. A good example of why can be seen in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GNKFhqupvk this video]], in which the person filming talks with Jon, David, and Bunny (then known as Christopher) out-of-character, while Erin absolutely refuses to break character, one commenter deeming she has no personality outside of her acting and labelling her a narcissist, though many users in the same video express love and admiration for her, which is why this example isn't as extreme. To a far lesser extent, the Jon has been seen as this since his departure.

* SignatureSong: "Honeybee" is the band's most-viewed [=YouTube=] video by far, and often cited by fans as the song that introduced them to their music. "Brass Goggles" is another candidate, as it does a much better job of presenting the band's {{Steampunk}} robot gimmick, and it's treated as Steam Powered Giraffe's theme song.

** Is Rabbit just a normal robot or is there something seriously wrong with her? A lot of songs, as well as the Walter Robotics video, seem to suggest the latter. It especially stands out when comparing "Honeybee"(Rabbit lamenting over a human lover that died of old age while he kept going) to the later "Eat Your Heart"(in which Rabbit takes great pleasure in tormenting & upsetting someone in love with her, coupled with the extremely creepy artwork for the single). Could lament over the war & loss of her human partner have led to some serious issues?

** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvnTLpg5MEo Eat Your Heart]] evokes this before the song even begins thanks to the artwork showing Rabbit with an unhinged jaw eating a piece of a heart, one eye on a wire behind her head and a creepy heart on a plate. The song itself is about taking great joy in someone's misery after being heartbroken, yet Rabbit performs it in an upbeat 1950s style, as if somehow causing this type of suffering is normal.
