Misuse

* BrokenBase: There are a lot of people who dislike the episode for myriad reasons. It doesn't follow the normal format of a Trek episode, they don't like Troi because she is useless but in command, don't like Ro because of her cold desire to cut the other half of the ship loose and flee (in only her second episode as a crew member, creating a long standing dislike of her by many viewers), don't like the subplot for Worf & Keiko or think the children who are with Picard in his subplot are annoying.

* IdiotBall: Troi often ends up as TheWatson, but it seems especially ludicrous that she, a trained Starfleet officer, has to ask what a ''warp core breach'' does.

Idiot ball is not YMMV.

* IdiotBall: It is ''inconceivable'' that a senior officer aboard a starship (Troi) doesn't know what a warp core breach would do. It's so ludicrous that it doesn't succeed at making the character look like an idiot, only the writers.
** Especially considering how often Galaxy class ships have core breaches.
