* FanPreferredCutContent: Much like "[[Recap/StarTrekTheNextGenerationS2E1TheChild The Child]]", most fans tend to agree that the original script for the unmade ''Star Trek: Phase II'' was a lot better than what we ended up getting, with that script's version of Ardra coming across as a far more sinister and intimidating character than the HarmlessVillain seen here. Though this episode does at least tend to be considered SoOkayItsAverage, whereas "The Child" is widely seen as one of the show's worst episodes.

* IdiotPlot: The entire episode hinges on the people of Ventax II seemingly forgetting that the technology to replicate all of Ardra's powers exists.

Recap Pages shouldn't spoil things that happen after the recapped episode.

** When Picard tells Ardra he doubts her claims, he says "[[SeenItAll I've encountered many who are more credibly to be called the Devil than you]].", likely referring to Q, Armus, or even the Borg. In "[[{{Recap/StarTrekTheNextGenerationS6E14Tapestry}} Tapestry]]", when Picard apparently dies, he enters a realm, finding Q saying "[[AGodAmI This is the afterlife, and I'm God]].", with Picard retorting "I refuse to believe that the afterlife is run by you. The universe is not so badly designed."

** The episode starts with Data playing Scrooge in a holoprogram of ''Literature/AChristmasCarol'' with Picard directing him. Creator/PatrickStewart would perform in a one-man version of ''A Christmas Carol'', which he later made into ''Film/AChristmasCarol1999'' in which Stewart starred as Scrooge.

* HamAndCheese: This is one of the show's sillier episodes (since season 1 anyway), but it's still entertaining thanks to Marta DuBois' [[EvilIsHammy magnificent performance]] as Ardra.
