* SpecialEffectsFailure: Except for "the big number" with Spock, Adam's singing is poorly lip synched and recorded on different equipment. Maybe he just naturally has that analog warmth built right into his vocal cords?

** A world that’s lush, but ultimately deadly to humans? A character saying “I see you” to express understanding? Perhaps they were looking for Pandora instead!

** Dr. Severin being a disease carrier who spurns vaccines and technology takes on a much darker tone in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the pushback against the COVID-19 vaccine.

* CriticalResearchFailure: Hippies in real life (at least the authentic ones) were, as a rule, more dressed down and decidedly plain, eschewing makeup, fancy hairstyles, and fashion clothes or accessories, all in keeping with a generally rustic and unisex appearance. There was nothing rustic about these space hippies. They wore fancy, colorful, expensive looking clothing, body paint, and tattoos. The female hippies in this episode wore makeup, lipstick, nail polish, fancy jewelry, high maintenance hairstyles, and very feminine, revealing clothing.Authentic female hippies, while definitely not puritanical, eschewed objectification of the female body with conventional notions of beauty and attractiveness. Fancy, festive clothing and body paint as you see on the show was not unreal, but for both men and women was usually reserved for dances, festivals and parades. Irina, especially, fit the HotGypsyWoman image more than the hippie stereotype. Also, all of them looked like they bathed regularly.Hippies not bathing was often a function of living in places without running water, or dysfunctional plumbing, as well as those who really did think the straights were too fixated on keeping perfectly clean and deodorized, or would bathe less often trying to save water for environmental reasons.
