* UnexpectedCharacter: The return of Ro Laren 29 years after her last appearance in [[Recap/StarTrekTheNextGenerationS7E23PreemptiveStrike "Preemptive Strike"]]. Ro's ultimate fate has long been one of the big loose ends of the 24th Century era (especially in the wake of the Maquis getting wiped out by the Dominion on ''Deep Space Nine''). But even with the return of TNG secondary characters in the previous Seasons of ''Picard'', *nobody* saw Ro's return coming -- both because of Michelle Forbes' strained history with the franchise and because there were absolutely no leaks of her guest appearance prior to this episode (at least save for the vague synopsis which implied it ''might'' be Ro).
