* StrawmanHasAPoint: Squidward had every right to call them out for causing him such agony over the day, especially when they stole his pedicure unsolicited.

* NightmareFuel: The ferally enraged Squidward [[JumpScare jumpscaring]] [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick (twice, no less) before unleashing a '''[[UnstoppableRage vicious]]''' tirade on them for their antics (again, twice no less) makes it clear that the two idiots finally pushed him past his RageBreakingPoint and then some, making one of the few times Squidward's anger towards the two was genuinely unnerving. Hell, Rodger Bumpass' performance should be applauded for conveying pure, unfiltered malice, but holy moly, it really sticks with you. The [[NightmareFace faces he pulls]] during said rant don't help.

* CatharsisFactor: Harsh as it may be, one could not help but feel very satisfied when Squidward [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech furiously chews out]] [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick for their thoughtless behavior towards him.

* FranchiseOriginalSin: To many, this is ''the'' episode which began the "[[KafkaKomedy Squidward Torture Porn]]" trend of him being tortured for no good reason (in this case, wanting to relax on his Sunday), something that mainly continued until Season [=9B=]. It also marked the beginning of [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick's {{Flanderization}} into oblivious, blithering idiots completely ignorant of the trouble they cause around them, unlike in this episode where they recognised they messed up, albeit after Squidward had to get it through them by ''screeching'' at their faces in rage he's never displayed beforehand.

* JerkassWoobie: Squidward isn’t exactly nice in this episode, but considering [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick just won’t let him relax no matter what, leading to the entire episode being a lengthy TraumaCongaLine for him, you can’t exactly blame him for being stressed and lashing out.

* StrawmanHasAPoint: A bizarre example where both sides are presented as being in the wrong, and yet BothSidesHaveAPoint.
** In Squidward's case, even though he shouldn't have gone to such authoritarian measures to keep [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick out of his life, he had every right to call them out for causing him such agony over the day, especially when they stole his pedicure unsolicited.
** Even though all they caused Squidward was misery, and they weren't willing to abide by his rules when he [[PersonaNonGrata cast them out]], it's hard not to agree with what [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick were trying to do, that being doing favors for Squidward to prove themselves as good neighbors. Especially when they realize they were going about their situation all wrong, and try to do something more humble that fits Squidward's liking (which he still {{reject|ed apology}}s).
