* MostAnnoyingSound: The Giant Boreworm in the third game. It's horrendous laugh will echo through your head for the rest of the game.

* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: The [[CthulhuMythos Cthulhu-like monster]] in the middle of phase six. Appears in one room with a significant amount of attention, but is soon forgotten about come the next. The Terror Mask doesn't even comment on it.

* LoveItOrHateIt: Pretty much what the reboot boils down to. It's an imaginative game with a lot of color and character and love from its developers with interesting bosses and funny dialogue, but at the same time it's repetitive when it comes to enemy design, repetitive when it comes to finishing moves, and overall it's outclassed by many other beat-em-ups, not to mention it's easy for the excessive gorn to slip into Narm territory.

* AndTheFandomRejoiced: The original rejoicing came when it was announced that the game was going to be remade. It soon returned when it was announced that the original arcade version was going to appear in the latest VideoGame/NamcoMuseum on UsefulNotes/NintendoSwitch.

* CounterpartComparison: A Mesoamerican mask that grants the wearer supernatural power. Is this the Terror Mask, or one of the Stone Masks made by the [[JojosBizarreAdventure Pillar Men]]?

* FreudWasRight: One of the monsters in the 2010 version, the Abhore has a huge, bloated right arm that leaks pus but it looks like some other whitish fluid. The Terror Mask lampshades this in one of the encounters with the Abhore:

The remake ends with [[spoiler:Jennifer getting possessed as well]]. Only in the second and third game does Rick get any sort of relief, and in the latter case [[NintendoHard good luck completing the levels on time to do so]].
