* ScrappyMechanic: The game's ranking system is considered incredibly at odds with the combat encounter design due to its odd sense of priorities. You can complete a stage with the highest combo and the fastest time possible, but if you let the chip damange stack up (and it ''will'' given just how packed the screen can get with enemies), you can expect to get nothing but C's and D's. This is doubly problematic as low grades means an abysmal payout of the game's currency, which means fewer opportunities to get some much needed upgrades to handle the later stages.

* NintendoHard: This game ''will'' stomp your head into paste if you don't know all of the combat mechanics inside and out, especially in the latter half of the game.

And that's not getting into the CycleOfHurting you can find yourself in with the particularly large mobs thanks to the game's lack of MercyInvincibility.

** SovKhan might actually one-up Atavaka by being nearly unfair. While Atavaka fights like a character from a fighting game, SovKhan fights like the ''[[SNKBoss final boss]]'' of a fighting game, possessing multiple long-range attacks that span the entire screen with no safe spots that he ''loves'' to spam, basically requiring the player to master parrying or risk getting constantly combo'd.

* ThatOneBoss: '''''Atavaka'''''. Most of the game's enemies and bosses can be challenging, but even they follow the norm of "having attack patterns" that the player can learn. Atavaka does not: You are no longer fighting a boss, you are going up against a Fighting Game player. ''A very, very skilled one''. Slip up, and you ''WILL'' get comboed into nothing, thrown around like a ragdoll, and just simply get the living crap beaten out of you. He's you, ''but better'', and that statement is ''not exaggerating in the slightest''.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: ''All of it''. One of the best points about the game is it's utterly ''godlike'' art direction thanks to lead artist Francine Bridge, from the character portraits to the combination of grimy cyberpunk and fleshy biopunk.
