* NintendoHard: The Reptar Tough difficulty level is ''much'' harder than one would expect from a children's game in general, much less a Rugrats one. In fact, one of the only two written [[Website/GameFAQS FAQs]] for this game on the Internet has its author admitting that she had to have help from a more experienced gamer to even ''finish'' the FAQ!

* DifficultySpike: Baby Easy is very simple, while Rugrat Medium is more challenging, but still easy to beat in one sitting. ''Reptar Tough'', [[NintendoHard on the other hand]]... let's just say you'll probably swear at your TV screen and RageQuit. A ''lot''.

It says a lot when the question of whether this is a [[SugarWiki/NoProblemWithLicensedGames good licensed game]] [[TheProblemWithLicensedGames or not]] is solely determined by the difficulty setting.

* SurpriseDifficulty: On Rugrat Medium & Reptar Tough mode. Especially surprising seeing as this is a game based on the '''''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}''''' cartoon.

* GuideDangIt: The locations of all the Funny Money in the game is never explained to the player, and one of the only online walkthroughs of the game simply says "[[HintsAreForLosers Coming Soon]]" (said walkthrough was last edited in ''2003''). Needless to say, finding all of the Funny Money in this game is ''really'' difficult.

The game is a fun and simple (although rather bland) platformer. [[SurpriseDifficulty Note that this is only the case if you're playing on Baby Easy mode]].

** ''Acrobatty Dash'' on Medium and Tough is just cruel and inhumane. On Baby Easy you're given a nice, comfortable seven minutes to go through the acrobat course. On Medium and Tough? ''three and a half minutes'' and ''two minutes'', respectively, even though the level itself is ''exactly the same''. Cue much swearing, ripping of hair, and gnashing of teeth.
** ''Meanie Genie'' on Medium and Tough difficulty is PlatformHell ''incarnate'', with jumps requiring precision presses of the A button, lack of depth perception making it hard to tell if you're gonna land on a platform or in the boiling lava, the fact that it goes on damn near ''forever'', [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and the background music is annoying to boot]].
** ''Temple of the Lamp''. On Easy and Medium it's a nice, if boring "collect-the-rubies"-athon. On Tough? An exercise in frustration. For one thing, you have to collect a whopping total of ''70'' rubies. Yeah, that's right, ''70''. Secondly, those [[GoddamnedBats goddamn scarab beetles]] are all over the place, serving to make your job even ''harder'' [[FakeDifficulty for no real reason at all]]. Thirdly, most of the rubies are located high on the buildings, forcing you to make even ''more'' perfect A button presses. Thankfully, it's easy to avoid doing this level in favor of other, more fun ones, like ''Rugrat Rug Race''.
** ''Moon Buggy Madness'' is extremely difficult on ''all'' difficulty levels, not due to any intention of the programmers, but due to the [[FakeDifficulty floaty physics making it almost impossible to get a sense of control.]]
