* SpiritualAdaptation: If you think about it, this game has a surprising amount in common with ''VideoGame/{{Wipeout}}''. Notably, both games revolve around a very dangerous combat sport (taken to its logical extreme in ''[=WipEout=] Fusion'') set in the near future with a subplot about an evil corporation running the tournament (in ''[=WipEout=]'s'' case, it wouldn't be until the fourth game where that rings true), and both have very simplistic art styles to them (particularly ''[=Wip3out=]'').

* GoddamnedBats:
** Snipers. They're not at all difficult to take out on their own (if anything, the Z-11 is especially effective against them), but their tendency to be placed in the most out-of-reach spots in the arena often means having to scramble just to get a clear shot at them ''at best''. They tend to be at their most annoying in the latter portion of the game, where you'll be swarmed with anywhere from four to five of them at once, often accompanied by Polybeams (mentioned above).
** Warheads are pretty quickly dealt with if you're quick and skilled with both your Slug Shots and Dual Pistols. Too slow, however, and they'll raise their shields, forcing you to either drain them (wasting precious ammo and time) or just wait until they lower them. Try to contend with that ''and'' their [[MacrossMissileMassacre frequent missile barrages]] and you'll be having a bad day with these guys before you know it.

* DemonicSpiders: When they're introduced in Echo Basin, you will learn to hate Polybeams very quickly. It's one thing for their [[WaveMotionGun namesake attack]] to deal a crapton of damage, but said attack also lingers for a fair bit, doing plenty of chip damage to Kara that stacks quickly if you're not constantly spamming the roll button. Oh, and just to add insult to injury, if you don't kill them quickly with the Slug Shot/Pistol combo, they'll teleport to another part of the arena, ruining your combo flow and making them that much more annoying in the process.
