* {{Fanon}}: Because [[DemotedToExtra Mrs. Burton doesn't show up too often in the TV series]], it's widely believed that the Burton parents are undergoing a divorce and that the episode takes place a week after the divorce.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: The book goes into detail about how Mindy has some kind of OCD or something and is ObssessessivelyOrganized, but it never becomes important to the plot. You'd think it would be part of some plot point, such as her noticing the gnomes are "frozen" in a different position before, due to her attention to detail, but nothing of the sort happens.

The complete opposite of the trope.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: We are meant to see Mindy as stuffy and unfun, but she comes across as a lot more likable than Joe, as she's a ''lot'' more mature and doesn't play annoying pranks on people all the time. One also gets the feeling she just wants to left alone, but Joe [[AnnoyingYoungerSibling keeps bugging her all the time.]]

* SelfFanservice: Despite being fourteen years old and not being very curvy in either the book or the episode, Mindy gets a decent amount of fanart that portrays her as much [[BuxomIsBetter bustier]] and [[HartmanHips curvier]] than in the book or episode.

There is a whole page of characters in the Goosebumps franchise to be Woobie’s. If you want to add more to it, go there.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Joe Burton. He's meant to be a cute prankster kid but mainly just comes across as annoying, and [[FoolishSiblingResponsibleSibling his sister Mindy]], who we aren't supposed to side with, comes across as a lot more reasonable and sympathetic.
* TheWoobie: Mindy is this, as she obviously has some [[SuperOCD serious untreated mental issues,]] and one strongly gets the feeling that she just wants to be left alone, only for Joe to constantly bug her. She even states multiple times that she hates pranks, but Joe won't [[{{Jerkass}} stop playing them on her anyway.]]

* StrawmanHasAPoint: There's a part where the gnomes wreck the neighbor's melons and Mindy accuses Joe of doing so, getting him in trouble. We are supposed to think she's a bitch for getting him in trouble for something he didn't do even though (as she ''herself'' even points out) all the evidence points to him, there's no evidence of his claim that the gnomes are alive and evil, and he has a habit of telling tall tales and pulling pranks, meaning she's quite justified in thinking he did it.
