* StrangledByTheRedString: Out of nowhere, Asumini and Njaa end up pretty much falling in LoveAtFirstSight during and after the FinalBattle. Unlike most couples who fall into this trope, there's no alteration of their characters (nothing about Njaa changes, since he was already a good lion trapped in a bad situation and family, and Asumini was introduced just the chapter before, no other Love Interests, no shipping, and no PairTheSpares (since neither was involved with anyone else). A bit of BecauseDestinySaysSo (in this case, the will of Aiheu) may play into it, since their daughter ends up as Mohatu's future mate, and while the fact she sees the good in Njaa and defends him surely helps, there may be a bit of TheDulcineaEffect in operation as well. The author has stated that if he had thought of including Asumini earlier, he would have, and there would have been proper Foreshadowing and build-up (although he isn't quite sure how he'd have included it). In the end, while fairly headscratching, it is inoffensive and sweet and comes across more as Throwing the Dog a Bone after all Njaa has been through.

Added DiffLines:

* HilariousInHindsight: Courtesy of WesternAnimation/TheLionGuard.
** Not only does the Swahili name this author gives the Pride Lands, Kiburi, end up used on the show as the name of one of the crocodiles in Scar's army, but there's also a vulture named Mwoga (voiced by Creator/CamClarke, no less). Meanwhile, the matriarch of the Pride Lands' elephant herd is named...(Ma) Tembo. To be fair, all of these names come from Swahili words for very common things, so the chance of them being used in a Lion King work somewhere was fairly high.
** The funniest recurrence, however, has to be the gold-and-white-striped zebra who shares the same name as this fic's protagonist prince, Dhahabu. Not only are they opposite genders and nothing alike in personality (other than the bit of arrogance he shows as a cub before quickly checking himself), but the main plot of her introductory episode revolves around a lack of water due to a dam. The difference being that this Dhahabu lied about the dried-up waterhole (to keep from upsetting her herd) while the fic's Dhahabu has no idea about the cause until Mahiri suggests it and he goes to check it out. Both of them do, however, assist in bringing down said dam to restore the water.
** A minor amusing point: the reason the makers of Simba's Pride decided to use the wind for Mufasa's communications with Rafiki was because they thought it would ruin the character's gravitas to see him as an actual talking character. Not only do actual talking spirit characters appear at the end of the fic (Mfalme and Sulubu), but Mufasa would finally appear as an actual character talking to Kion (and he wouldn't be the only one). Whether the result did turn out Narmy is up to the viewer (or reader, here).
* NauseaFuel: The injuries dealt to both Sulubu and Mfalme, as detailed on the main page, are enough to unsettle many a stomach, as well as NightmareFuel.

* TearJerker: Sulubu's death, as well as Mfalme's. The former has some of the saddest LastWords you can imagine for a Lion King fic while also being utterly true to the character, and the latter has to receive a MercyKill to end his suffering; just before Dhahabu delivers it, he gets one last lick on the cheek from his father and flashes back to the same thing happening the day of his birth. The pride grieving for Mfalme, especially poor little Mohatu and his brothers saying goodbye, is also heartbreaking.
