** Any Pokemon that learns Ominous Wind. On top of the inflicting damage to everyone in your team, the move also has a chance of raising all of the enemy's stats, including speed, which means they have the chance of spamming the move on you until you're good as dead. The worst offender of this is Drifblim, whose speed can be increased even further if it has the ability Unburden.

* The X-Ray specs mean that you'll never be surprised in dungeons where visability is at a premium (essentially all the time mid-to-late game.) It tells you exactly where all the enemies and items are on the floor which drops massive hints as to what might be in there. A ton of treasure but no visible pokemon? That's a monster house. A bunch of items with only a single enemy in the middle? That's an item shop. A yellow dot on the map when you and your partner are together? That's the pokemon you need to rescue, deliver an item to, escort your guest to. This essentially blows side missions wide open and makes escort missions more bearable.

** Since Mewtwo was created by humans, he might be the only Pokemon in the series who has some knowledge and history about them. But it remains an unexplored plot hole since no one bothers to ask and he never says anything about it.

What? Being SLIGHTLY more beloved is not a valid use of this trope.

* GermansLoveDavidHasselHoff: Somewhat played with: In homeland Japan, the ''Pokémon Mystery Dungeon'' games are received well both by the local critics and fans for being unique, but the fanbases are quite sizable (if not to the [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} Pokémon anime]] heights). But in the West, when the games received bad-to-moderate reviews from critics, the PMD fanbase there (who appreciated the games) are ''much'' larger than they're in Japan.
