** Some people expected Gold's Eevee to evolve into Umbreon to help with the former's parallel towards Red. This was proven true in Episode 32.

* JerkassWoobie: Silver is mean to both people and [[BadPeopleAbuseAnimals Pokémon]], but he has [[FreudianExcuse an utterly heartbreaking reason to be so]]: he was the son of [[TheDon Giovanni]], the ruthless boss of Team Rocket, and witnessed the team murder countless Pokémon in cold blood for money and abuse countless other Pokémon for power, and after seeing firsthand the full extent of his father's evil, he could take it no more; he [[DisownedParent disowned his father]] and ran into hiding in Johto.

** Ariana is a criminal and suffers from a nasty case of AesopAmnesia, since she kept Team Rocket alive against Giovanni's wish. She's also a mother desperately trying to find her missing husband, son, and daughter. She even gets a brief HopeSpot when Silver comes back to her, but then witnesses him ultimately choose to fight against Team Rocket - and therefore against her - during the climactic battle.

** In Episode 17, Morty literally puts Gold into a nightmare where he goes through the events of ''Fanfic/PokemonLostSilver''.
** In Episode 19, we see the effects of Radio Tower affecting multiple Pokémon, either forcing them to evolve like the Shiny Magikarp, or making them ill like Jasmine's Amphy. But Silver's Croconaw? The soundwaves turn an already stern Pokémon into a raging beast as it mauls Arianna's Vileplume to death while evolving into Feraligatr. And yes, we see Feraligatr draw blood to the poor Vileplume while ripping it apart limb by limb.
*** Also, take a look at Silver during that sequence: he clenches his fists so hard ''they starts bleeding''.
** Episode 25 brings back Feraligatr mauling any Trainer's Pokémon that dares to skip the checkpoint building and not pay a fine by the Team Rocket Grunts. By nightfall, the route is ''caked'' in blood.
*** It gets worse. When Silver and a few Grunts go to Violet City, he directly orders Feraligatr to kill Falkner's Fearow, taking frustrations out on a person that he wrongfully assumed was dating Kris.
** In Episode 26, all of Gold and Kris' Pokémon get affected by Team Rocket's radio waves and begin attacking each other. Then, when all of Kris' team is knocked out, all of Gold's remaining Pokémon that did not faint ''attack'' Kris while Gold tries his best to restrain Quilava. Thankfully, Quilava comes back to his senses and knocks out his teammates, but imagine how different things would have turned out if Gold failed to reach out to his partner.
** In Episode 27, Silver takes a turn for the worse once again by ordering Feraligatr to rip off Gold's Quagsire's arms in a Pokémon battle. Everyone present in the battle is shocked, including his mother Ariana, by the fact Silver would do it. But it gets worse, Silver was shown to ''hesitate'' commanding Feraligatr to do it, but something inside him snapped and he gave the order. Also, if Lance and Dragonite did not intervine, Feraligatr would have killed Quagsire in the moment.
** In Episode 28, Team Rocket manages to catch all Johto Legendaries except for Celebi. Much like Giovanni catching Mewtwo, this is a sign of the DarkestHour, with the only silver lining being that Mew, Mewtwo and Red's Hypno and Gengar are giving Team Rocket an ultimatum: if they step in Kanto, they lose the Legendaries.

Silver, leaving everyone he knew and loved behind. We also see his mother's reaction eight years since his disappearance, heartbroken that Lance has not yet found Red.
** In Episode 16, Kris' Slowpoke has a complete breakdown after getting mocked by Eusine for having no tail, making it believe that there is no chance it will evolve into a Slowbro. Everyone in the room, Gold and Kris, their Pokémon, and other Trainers, feel bad for Slowpoke as Team Rocket ruined its life for a sick profit.
*** But speaking of Team Rocket, Proton was in the Pokémon Center at the time this took place, and this makes him wonder if going back to Team Rocket was the best choice for him.
** Episode 19 for both Silver and his mom Arianna. For Silver, he is forced to relive the moments from ''Pokemon Red'' that scarred him as a kid (such as a Team Rocket Grunt getting eaten by Arbok and forced to see Red and Blue get beat up by his father) and angrily tell a police officer he is not part of Team Rocket. For Arianna, she is forced to see her son basically disown her and Giovanni, and fails to understand why Silver is doing this.
** Episode 24: Just when you thought Silver would start loosening up and become kinder, he does a tragic 180 by stealing a Sneasel and running away, only for Chuck to stop him. It's there that Silver realizes that no matter what, he's a wanted criminal for stealing Pokémon and he has no one for support (Gold hates him, and any feelings he has for Kris is pushed aside for wrongfully believing she likes Falkner more). And with that, Silver goes back to Team Rocket, returning his Pokédex as he does not feel worthy of keeping it.
** Episode 27: Gold seeing Silver's Feraligatr maul his Quagsire and rip off its arms. All the poor boy can do is stare in shock and collapse to his knees.
** Episode 28: We see that Gold has tried different potions in an attempt to regrow Quagsire's arms, but nothing has worked. Not only does he shut himself off from his mom and Kris, but he beats himself up for not stopping Silver or using any of his other Pokémon to defeat Feraligatr. Worse, the guilt of letting his Pokémon get maimed causes his golden heart to dull out. Thankfully, Quagsire reuses his ability to grow arms using Ice Punch to cheer his trainer up and then all the other members of Gold's team emerging from their Poké Balls for a GroupHug.
** Episode 29: Although it's great to see Silver and his Feraligatr finally join Gold and Kris in the fight against Team Rocket, you can see some guilt on their faces of what they did as members of Team Rocket and before then. Hell, Feraligatr takes one look at his Johto Starter members, and looks ashamed of the kind of immoral actions he committed.
** Episode 30: The battle between our heroes and Team Rocket is over, Johto is saved, and everyone is relieved to see it all end. However, Silver is ''not'' happy at all, as he completely wrecked with guilt over his actions working for Team Rocket and having Feraligatr kill innocent Pokémon. Silver goes as far to tearfully ''beg'' Ho-oh and Lugia to kill him and resurrect the Pokémon he killed. Poor guy really needs a hug.
