** Jack nibbles on a severed toe out of boredom and curiosity when he's held captive by the Pelogostos. In 2015, Johnny Deppy visited a children's hospital in character as Jack Sparrow, where a girl noticed that Depp had his finger bandaged; Depp, still in character, joked that he ate his fingertip. It was later proven that his finger had actually been cut off, though opinions vary on whether by Depp himself during a drunken bender, or by his then wife in an act of domestic abuse.

Unfortunately Beckett acquired perfectly legal control of Port Royal as the King's representative. It is only in the interception of Swann's message and the killing of the messenger that he acted as out of the law.

** Davy Jones gets soooooo many moments that stand out. He kills dozens of innocent people in attempting to track down Will and Jack, the innocent foreigners who merely chance upon Jack's hat and the trading crew with the stern captain for starters. Then there is also him ordering the defiant crewman who spurned his offer of crewmanship killed immediately and, in a rage, having the survivors of the aforementioned trading ship slaughtered wholesale without even offering them the chance to take his wretched bargain by saying that there were no survivors. Some fans also believe that he really crossed it when he keeps William Turner prisoner, sets him to be brutally tortured by his own father and then threatens to kill him to spite Bootstrap.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: One of the few complaints people had about the first movie is that Jack Sparrow's "broken" compass just happens to be the only thing that can lead you to Isla de Muerta without any proper explanation as to why. This movie gives a proper answer: it's a magical compass that points to the thing the user wants most in the world and he got it from a mysterious Voodoo woman named Tia Dalma years before the movies. Reportedly, the filmmakers had intended for the compass to be able to specifically lead to Isla de Muerta when making the first film, but the line establishing this was cut from the film, so when the sequel came around, they were able to retcon it to fit the story.

* ContestedSequel: Several consider this film to be a major step down from the first film due to the switch from LowFantasy to HighFantasy, Jack taking Will's place as the Main Character, HappyEndingOverride and the fact few plot threads intorduced in this film get resolved. Others however consider it an EvenBetterSequel due to the expanse in action and drama, introduction to Davey Jones, Cutler Beckett, and the Kraken while expanding the series' mythology and providing natural character arcs to the cast. There's also a third group that finds the film weaker than the first but still a worthy follow up. Regatrdless of one's stance it's near unaminously agreed to better than the third film.

The humour in the first film was quite clever and low-key, mostly due to Creator/JohnnyDepp improvising most of his stuff, so this film tried to write ''for'' the Jack that Depp had created, which had the consequence of making its tone DenserAndWackier. Likewise, the first film was more LowFantasy with {{Ghost Pirate}}s as the antagonists, while one marked a switch to HighFantasy with the introduction of the [[KrakenAndLeviathan Kraken]], the ''FlyingDutchman'' and the East India Trading Company's plot to take over the seas.
