* AuthorAppeal: It’s fairly obvious Susan Kay wanted Erik and Christine to be together, whilst [[DerailingLoveInterests actively downplaying her canonical relationship with Raoul as much as possible]] to the point of having their marriage be sexless and cold while Christine has a night of passion with Erik that gets her pregnant. Much like ''Theatre/LoveNeverDies'', the author doesn’t seem to [[MisaimedFandom understand]] or at least [[DieForOurShip acknowledge]] the fact in Gaston Leroux original work Christine’s feelings for Erik were largely pity mixed with horror rather romantic, since she had genuinely given her heart to Raoul long before she met Erik.
