* {{Mondegreen}}: Subverted. Sally prepares for a Christmas pageant in which "I come out and say, 'Hark!', then Harold Angel starts to sing." Everyone assumes that she's simply confused by the name of the song...until a kid named Harold Angel actually shows up.
** Also played straight a fair bit with Sally, such as a sequence where she believes that Santa Claus wears a yellow sou'wester and rubber boots (having misheard 'reindeer' as 'rain gear'), or her description of Arbor Day as "the day the ships come sailing into the 'arbor".

*** The two strips after it though, are [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming downright adorable]], unless you are a Linus/Sally shipper.
**** the final strip was this for me as well as a crowning momment of heartwarming

* HarsherInHindsight: Listen to stories of [[KidsAreCruel bull]][[TeensAreMonsters ying]] that have been in the news recently, then go read a Peanuts strip, or watch any of the specials (such as the Auditorium scenes in ACharlieBrownChristmas). [[DudeNotFunny Not as funny as it used to be, is it?]]

* ViewerGenderConfusion: Some people actually thought that Peppermint Patty was a boy - it doesn't help that in the animated adaptations, she is ''voiced'' by a boy, and that in the 80s and 90s, it became a little more acceptable for young males to have longer hair than it would be in the 50s-70s. (Where it was ''older'' men who had longer hair primarily!)

* CargoShip: If taken to the extreme, Schroeder/Toy Piano and Linus/Security Blanket. Unfortunately, those two pairings might be the [[AllLoveIsUnrequited only two non-unrequited relationships]].
** "Non-unrequited"? What, is the word "requited" [[ItsEasySoItSucks too simple]]?
