** After the {{Retcon}} of Season Five's finale where it was revealed that what we'd been told since the first season--that Earth was a land without magic--was not precisely true because small bits remained if you believed strongly enough in them, many fans cried foul. Fast forward to now, with the reveal about Gothel being Mother Nature from our Earth, and that the magic our world once possessed was torn to "tatters and rags" after the destruction of her grove. Fans might find this even more of a nonsensical {{Retcon}}, but it is at least consistent and explains why there could be bits of magic here, why the curse could bring people here, why magic beans could make portals to here at all, and so on.
** And speaking of, considering we get to see that Gothel took the magic bean which she and Seraphina used from the ruins of her grove, this might also provide the explanation for why the portal effect is different than it was in the past--because these beans are from ''Earth'', not the original Enchanted Forest. Well, except for the fact that the bean Henry used to leave Storybrooke at the start of this season also used this effect. Maybe it's meant to suggest that the portal opens to an alternate Enchanted Forest instead of the original?
*** It could be due to going to the Alternate Enchanted Forest, but it could also be that the beans in Storybrooke were actually grown right there. They seem to have quite a few, given how easily Henry, Regina & Hook, Emma, and Zelena seem to be able to travel between realms, as well as a number of characters in the past few seasons; it's far from unreasonable to suggest that they might've finally managed to grow more beans with Anton's help now that they don't have any major threats to Storybrooke after the final battle.
