Not YMMV and can only be crossed once.

* {{Gorn}}: Despite it being in written text, it managed to outdo ComicBook/OldmanLogan in the violence and brutal deaths department, with King Sombra's death standing out the most.

* MoralEventHorizon: If King Sombra didn't cross it by making Luna kill her sister, Star-Swirl, and the Mane Six, he crossed it by forcing Sunburst to fight a mind-controlled Starlight in his arena.

If the lighter moments are criticized, than being too dark isn't an issue. Must explain why those dark things are off-putting as opposed to True Art Is Angsty.

* AngstAversion: While the story does have a few light-hearted moments here and there (even though tonal inconsistency is cited as one of its flaws), it's still a post-apocalyptic story where AnyoneCanDie.

"Idiot Plot" is now Flame Bait.

* IdiotPlot: Due to the reveal that Discord faked losing his powers, the whole plot could have been avoided if he had simply whipped up some bits here and there when he visited Luna.
** Tirek keeping Luna alive doesn't make much sense either, especially since he could have absorbed her magic any time he wanted. Even more so knowing the other villains might not even be aware that Luna is alive.

Looked both tropes up and Angst Aversion was more fitting.

* {{Padding}}: This story had something ComicBook/OldManLogan didn't have. An actual resistance that saves the good guys from being executed. However, that resulted in the story dragging on longer than it needed to be.
