* SugarWiki/AwesomeArt: The game's shift from pre-rendered 3D graphics to TwoAndAHalfD was executed really well. The environments look highly detailed, yet semi-cartoony, resulting in something breathtaking to the eye. The cutscenes have also been overhauled, with much better detail and less difference with the in-game graphics thanks to the improved hardware. ''VideoGame/OddworldSoulstorm'' would only improve on this, thanks to the even better UsefulNotes/Playstation5 hardware.

* PortingDisaster: The [=PS3=] version, while still playable, suffers from longer load times, sound glitches, occasional frame rate issues, and FMVs that can occasionally glitch out.

* WinBackTheCrowd: The initial release was an ObviousBeta that fans were divided about, especially regarding the LighterAndSofter tone. However, Just Add Water listened to these complaints and delayed ''Soulstorm'' so that they could fix the game's bugs and control issues. Once the game was patched, the game was met with warmer reception from fans and currently holds a rating of "Very Positive" on Steam. That said, the BrokenBase about the different tone still remains.

* TheyChangedItNowItSucks: With ''Abe's Oddysee'' being such a classic, it was inevitable that ''New 'N Tasty'' wouldn't live up to everyone's expectations. But the changes to the controls and the glitches at launch (both of which were partially rectified by patches) were scratching the surface; the entire audio and visual presentation, and even various cutscenes, were significantly overhauled or completely altered outside of the music. [=RuptureFarms=] got hit the hardest, going from a grungy and dirty environment to something a lot more brighter, polished and sci-fi looking. Opinions were rather mixed, and the lukewarm reception put the planned remake of ''Exoddus'' squarely into DevelopmentHell until Spring 2021.

* ObviousBeta: The game suffered suffered from terrible bugs on its initial release, and the other console versions were hit with many delays. The Wii-U version was hit especially hard. Though the game was eventually patched, it still remains infamous for its buggy launch.

* BrokenBase: Whether or not the game is better than the original game. Some fans prefer the original game for its tighter design and grittier atmosphere, while others prefer ''New 'n' Tasty'' for its beautiful graphics and incorporation of elements from later games in the series, such as the ability to lead more than one Mudokon at a time.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Alf was already this from the start, but this game made him even more popular thanks to the DLC where Abe has to save him.
* {{Narm}}: The ending theme, known as Elodie Adams' "Born To Love You", while an undeniably awesome song from an amazing singer, doesn't exactly fit with the game's tone itself.
