* BaseBreakingCharacter: Dove Dillinger initially. Fans either love the ''Queen of Noirs'' for her quirky personality, and genuinely loveable relationship with her little brother Loren; while others find her utterly annoying and overpowered, wanting the ''God Slayer'' to finally get taken out and humbled by Erina. [[spoiler:Dove does get a much ''RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap warmer reception'' after she gets involved in a relationship with Asahi and her tragic backstory is finally revealed.]]

* EnsembleDarkHorse: Aisha Akintola, the Littlest Competitor. Originally a very minor OC, but one who got a massive boost in appearances once fans demanded more of him.

* IKnewIt: Zancrowe gets a few of the future points about Manga/FoodWars correct such as Akira being the winner of the Autumn Election, Erina actually respecting and recognising Megumi’s ability and Takumi refusing to take back his mezzaluna after Soma got it back and vowing to earn it himself after defeating Subaru and then Soma.

* SalvagedStory: ''Nouvelle'' originally discarded all mentions of Azami's Central movement and Asahi's Noir shenanigans. These two elements take center stage in ''Classique'', just being retrofitted into happening simultaneously, and very much at odds with each other, with the poor Tootsuki alumni stuck in the middle of it all.

* HilariousInHindsight: In this story, a major plot point is that Erina's cooking tastes near identical to Soma's late mother's (Tamako Yukihira's) cooking. It wasn't until near the end of the manga that Tamako was revealed to have been horrible at cooking.

* CrackPairing: The stories run on this: Takumi with Hisako, Akira with Megumi, Eizan with Shouko, and so on.
* CreepyAwesome: Ashitaro, truly a detestable and abusive character, but someone with the skills to put almost all other chefs of his generation to shame.
* EnsembleDarkHorse: Aisha Akintola, the Littlest Competitor. Originally a very minor OC, but one who got a massive boost in appearances once fans demanded more of him.
* FoeYayShipping: Both Asahi/Dove and Loren/Nao are built on this, and have large fanbases because of it.

* MemeticBadass: Megumi. Unlike canon, she ended up failing upwards in this series, out-stalking Subaru, helping save Soma, defeating Shouko to gain an Elite Ten seat higher than even Soma's, and effectively remains undefeated throughout both stories.
