Being merged with Ass Pull. Caballeron is misuse complaining about the redemption as opposed to lack of foreshadowing/impossability (the whole episode was building up to it and Fluttershy did the same thing to Discord).

* AssPull: Doctor Caballeron's sudden HeelFaceTurn came off as one of these to many fans, with all the bad things he had done to Daring Do beforehand and that he was trying to hide his true nature behind Fluttershy throughout the episode. Having him suddenly confess through the truth amulet that Fluttershy changed him, right when fans were expecting him to yell that he was using her all along, felt like a slap in the face.

* AssPull: Doctor Caballeron's sudden HeelFaceTurn came off Ahuizotl being GoodAllAlong, as one it's so completely against how he's been portrayed in every other form of these to many fans, with all media and the bad things he had done to show itself. In his debut episode "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E4DaringDont Daring Do beforehand and that Don't]]" where he was trying to hide his true nature behind Fluttershy throughout the episode. Having him suddenly confess through the truth amulet that Fluttershy changed him, right when fans were expecting him to yell that he was explicitly using her all along, felt like a slap in an ArtifactOfDoom to bring about ''800'' years of scorching heat on the face.Tenochtitlan Basin (though it could be argued his motives were simply to make it so hot that no more adventurers would want to come and steal artifacts), while "Daring Done?" states he nearly destroyed the town of Somnambula and plunged the surrounding area into eternal night, which are a completely different, Egyptian inspired location from the place he's supposed to be guarding.

* ShockingSwerve: Many feel this way about Ahuizotl being GoodAllAlong, as it's so completely against how he's been portrayed in every other form of media and the show itself that it seems to only exist for the sake of a plot twist. Especially in his debut episode "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E4DaringDont Daring Don't]]" where he was explicitly using an ArtifactOfDoom to bring about ''800'' years of scorching heat on the Tenochtitlan Basin (though it could be argued his motives were simply to make it so hot that no more adventurers would want to come and steal artifacts), while "Daring Done?" states he nearly destroyed the town of Somnambula and plunged the surrounding area into eternal night, which are a completely different, Egyptian inspired location from the place he's supposed to be guarding.

Requires explaining the intelligent thing you'd expect them to do instead. "Keep Calm and Flutter On" Shows this is consistent with Fluttershy's character.

** Daring Do. Both Dr. Caballeron and Ahuizotl point out how her apparent "good deeds" were really just her stealing artifacts for herself, and caused them a lot of problems, showing how even someone as heroic as her has flaws. Yet during the entirety of the show's run, [[PoorCommunicationKills neither character ever tried to reason with her]] and on many occasions put not only her, but many other ponies, in life-or-death situations. This makes Daring Do come off as a scapegoat for villains who blame all their misfortunes on her after repeatedly trying to steal from her or kill her and failing, and only ALighterShadeOfGrey at most, considering that the villains have done much worse things than her.
** Rainbow Dash has also fallen into this as well. She's supposed to be in the wrong for refusing to consider that Dr. Caballeron may be a misunderstood and tragic figure, with Fluttershy even calling her out for not giving him a chance to speak his peace. However, given his [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS6E14StrangerThanFanFiction past]] [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS7E17DaringDone appearances]] involved him kidnapping Rainbow (and Quibble Pants in the former episode) to use as bait for a trap for Daring Do, ''and'' he's tried a very similar scheme as in this episode before (lying about Daring Do to defame her to the public), it's really not hard to understand why Rainbow wouldn't trust him.
* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Ahuizotl is also this. The episode presents him as having done nothing wrong and Daring Do's theft of artifacts as having been entirely at fault. However, some fans see Ahuizotl as being the one more in the wrong for trying to flat out ''[[DisproportionateRetribution murder]]'' her repeatedly via DeathTrap while being comparably far more lax and even willingly working with the far more greedy and villainous Caballeron, especially given it never seemed to occur to Ahuizotl to just ''tell her'' about it. All of which gave Daring Do next to no reason to actually think he was anything but an evil monster in the first place.
* WhatAnIdiot: Fluttershy wants to hear both sides of the story and getting to who [[GoodAllAlong Caballeron and Ahuizotal]] really is as a result. However, not only does she completely disregard her best friend Rainbow's warnings about Dr. Caballeron, she completely ignores the threats and insults, and many flaws that he tries to cover up. She also risks her own life trying to talk to Ahuizotl and getting his side of the story, making her seem StupidNeutral at worse.

Irrelevant to wasted plot. And the only times flashbacks were meant to be unreliable made it obvious with blatant errors.

** The episode briefly touches on how Caballeron offered a partnership with Daring Do but she refused, and also deals with how neither of them gave any thought to Ahuizotl's actions. Despite being prime fodder for an OriginsEpisode where the beginnings of the three are explored, it isn't utilized. For that matter, while we get a brief flashback of Caballeron offering Daring Do a partnership, the episode makes it clear he's an UnreliableNarrator, so it's dubious if that flashback was even real.

** Dr. Caballeron has come off as this to a good portion of the fandom. Yes, he realizes the error of his ways in the end, and he even makes amends with Daring Do as the two co-write a book together under their aliases. However, many felt that it was hollow and didn't justify the many times in the past he's put not only Daring Do, but her own friends and innocent bystanders in harms way just to steal treasure, or more recently try to turn ordinary townsponies and her own fans against her with misinformation and lies. In the end many felt he shouldn't have been as EasilyForgiven and should've faced the consequences for all things he's done.

** Fluttershy, of all ponies, falls into this herself for some fans as throughout the episode, she keeps giving the bad guys a break despite the fact that they have done pretty nasty things to not only Daring Do, but her and her friends as well. Not only that, but she also doesn't realize or just flat-out disregards the fact that Dr. Caballeron and Ahuizotl's past actions have much more dire consequences than Daring Do's.

* HarsherInHindsight: Pretty much every Daring Do episode has fallen into this after it was revealed that she was not only hoarding a lot of the treasure she recovered, but was also (unintentionally) raiding a sacred jungle with treasure that belonged to its natives.

For that matter, while we get a briefl flashback of Caballeron offering Daring Do a partnership, the episode makes it clear he's an UnreliableNarrator, so it's dubious if that flashback was even real.

** Some think the "both sides have a point" aesop would have had more weight if we saw Daring Do ''did'' have more pronounced flaws than were apparent, and that Caballeron really was DrivenToVillainy by her actions. However, Daring Do has no such dark reveal about herself and Caballeron's backstory isn't expanded beyond what he claims early in the episode, and given that the episode makes it clear he's an UnreliableNarrator, it's dubious he was even telling the turth.

** The episode opens up the possibility of A.K. Yearling officially retiring the Daring Do series after more of her misadventures were exposed. Not helping matters is [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS7E17DaringDone unlike the last time where this happened, where a whole town despised a fictional character that she was able to win back]], here it's her fans turning on her as a writer and attacking her for building the character up despite the morally questionable things she's done as Daring Do. Instead, Dr. Caballeron's book exposing Daring Do is just the setup to the main episode plot and the idea of fans turning on her only amounted to one scene.
** We could have used this episode's climax as a way to clear up previous issues with a PerspectiveFlip between Daring Do, Dr. Caballeron and Ahuizotl throughout the series using the truth amulet as a TruthSerum. It wasn't even suggested.
** In light of Ahuizotl publishing his side of the story possibly breaking A.K. Yearling's masquerade, we never see the possible fallout that came from revealing the events of a [[FictionAsCoverup supposedly fictional book series]] being RealAfterAll.
** The "hear both sides of the story" plot could've shown how Daring Do came to see Ahuizotl as a villain and feel she had to steal the artifacts to protect everyone from him and others, perhaps even giving a good OriginsEpisode for the two...but instead how that happened is never mentioned and the aesop is completely one sided towards the former villains.

** Dr. Caballeron has come off as this to a good portion of the fandom. Yes, he realizes the error of his ways in the end, and he even makes amends with Daring Do as the two co-write a book together under their aliases. However, many felt that it was hollow and didn’t justify the many times in the past he’s put not only Daring Do, but her own friends and innocent bystanders in harms way just to steal treasure, or more recently try to turn ordinary townsponies and her own fans against her with misinformation and lies. In the end many felt he shouldn't have been as EasilyForgiven and should’ve gotten some kind of punishment for all things he’s done over the years.
